Never have been really tied to expiration dates, BUT a well stocked pantry is one thing, a well stocked store room seems like a real good idea and at the same time a very time consuming chore to keep the stock rotated (fresh).
This why I suggest a good supply of emergency food from a place like 4 Patriot’s and then incorporate three/four deep stockpiling. This way you rotate every time you use up an item.
