    Thanks for the great review! This, as well as other research I have done, led me to test-ride the Homage a couple weeks ago, and I ordered one on the spot. I opted for a dual-battery 20mph enviolo version, since I want to be able to ride on all bike trails in Colorado. I live just southwest of Denver where there is proliferation of urban and off-road trails where I can ride it. My test ride convinced me that of all the ebikes on the market, the R&M Homage is the perfect one for me!

    I have just received mine yesterday (Rohloff and double batteries) and ride a few dozens kilometers in hilly countryside around Toulouse, France (front rack and bag are still missing, but that does not prevent to ride). I am very impressed by the behavior of the bike (heavy to push but very nimble to ride) and the new generation of Bosch CX motor.
    As I notice in bike characteristics list, the 60 teeth ring is not a good choice for regular eBike (surely a better choice for HS version): why don't you choose the 50 teeth ring used on Delight Mountain bikes, in order to have a more usable developments range ?
    Question: what is the maximum weight which can be handled by the bottle holder attachement, on the diagonal "tube" ? Is it possible to use it to attach a 2.6 kg chain lock ? (Abus 110cm CityChain X-Plus, using a Blackburn cargo bottle holder); the delivered regular Bordo is a good lock, but it is a little "light" compared to the bike value...
    All in all: I am very pleased with my new bike !

    • @rieseundmuellerGmbH
      @rieseundmuellerGmbH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your feedback, we're very glad you like your Homage so much! 😊 You can attach a lock with 2.6 kg weight to the eyelets for the bottle cage, no problem. As to the chain ring: The "ideal" gear ratio is very dependent on personal preferences and especially the Rohloff hub already offers a wide range. Therefore, we did not want to make the gear ratio of the standard bike (non-mountain) unnecessarily short. However, if you want to have a different gear ratio, your dealer can change it to that of the Delite mountain rohloff.

    I wish the front carrier had a simple quick connect, disconnect so it could be quickly & easily added or removed when needed.
    As a reference......Harley Davidson offers many "detachable" options on their motorcycles including the windshields & saddlebags and rear racks. On & Off in seconds....Just an idea.....
    The Enviolo Automatic hub would be a nice option too, for the Homage..... Why is that wonderful product available on the Nevo, but not the Homage?

      The minimum height is about 5 cm from the edge of the seat tube to the seat clamp, thus not including the height of the saddle itself. When extended, the usable total length of the dropper post is about 20 cm.

    Hi, Sebastian.great review! I have the Homarge 4 , Step-through, GT roilloff 14 gear, dual battery and ABS. Its a fantastic bike. Probably the safest and best made avaliable. I need your help? I need a bike carrier for my towbar on my Tesla. It must clamp safley to the Homarge 4. I Have tested and returned all of the Thule ones; non that ive looked at online can clamp it securley. The H4 has no cross bar and a very thick bar with the dual batteries. Most bike towbar carriers need you to lift the bike to place it on the racktrack. At 74 with a heart condition I need a roll-up track bar to load the bike. Many have this but again the H4 ebike has GT tyres that need wide track roll-ups and it is very heavy. I hope you have come across this already and look forward to seeing if you can track down an answer before spring! Thanks Graham.

      Hi, we are delighted that you like your Homage so much. However, as we haven't carried out tests with different car carriers, we are unfortunately unable to make a recommendation. Our dealers are the right people to contact for advice on accessories.
      However, we can tell you that the seat tube is much better suited for attaching the clamp than the centre tube. Many manufacturers also offer adapters for the clamp.
      There may be other Homage riders here who can give you a tip. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

      I purchased the Riese and Mueller Homage Electric bike approximately 3 months ago. After doing some research,
      I also purchased the the Kuat NV base 2.0 two bike rack, which is rated for E bicycles to transport the bike.
      the Kuat fits the cars hitch box receiver.
      The rack was purchased, assembled, and installed on my vehicle by my local Bicycle shop.... Easy on & 0ff. Secure and no wobble.
      The Kuat NV base 2.0 works perfectly,.... I load the Homage using the optional side load ramp and simply roll the bike up using the Homage "walk assist" button to then.... attach the rack clamping wheel strap & front arm.. Done
      Highly recommend.

    I know it's not designed as a mountain bike. Do you think it can climb a steep fire road well and keep up with the Delite Mountain?

    • @rieseundmuellerGmbH
      @rieseundmuellerGmbH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We actually did not let the two models pit directly against each other. 😉 Still, such trails should not cause the Homage any difficulties. Of course, it is a bit heavier than the Delite mountain and, in comparison, more designed for urban use, which should be kept in mind. If you often want to ride unpaved roads, you best take a look at the GX option and possibly also the saddle lowering. A test ride at and advice from one of our dealers in your area seems essential, however, to find out whether the Homage is the perfect bike for you. You can find the nearest store via our website: r-m.de/dealer-search

    Will the thickness of the down tube effect ones leg position for peddling?

    • @rieseundmuellerGmbH
      @rieseundmuellerGmbH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We tried to make the down tube as slim as possible even with the two batteries. With DualBatt the tube is about 14 cm wide, maybe that helps to get an idea of whether it could interfere with pedalling. However, this should certainly be checked individually, and is best done on a test ride. 😊

      Unfortunately, we cannot give you a specific recommendation in this regard, as there are many different suppliers of bicycle racks and we cannot test them all. In any case, it is important to consider the permitted weight and the fact that the rail must be designed for wider tyres.

    In my opinion building, an ebike that needs a special frame to hold a proprietary motor is a mistake... you end up with a massive heavy frame that can't be used in any way without the motor, and you can't swap motors in the future. The motor shouldn't be just big enough to move the bike and rider but should have enough power to move the bike, a large rider, additional gear (hundreds of pounds potentially), and even a loaded trailer if wanted. Since you shouldn't charge lithium batteries past 85% or deplete them past 20% (to triple their life) a 650Wh battery has 422Wh that's useable without stressing the cells. Couple that with the fact that a pair of smaller (expensive) proprietary batteries take longer to charge than a single large lithium pack both because chargers only charge a single battery at a time and because large lithium packs can be charged at a higher amperage (with no stress on the cells) the whole idea of having two smaller batteries becomes more a sales gimmick than helpful to the rider. Not to mention a good way to sell additional drastically over-priced proprietary disposable lithium packs. What I want to know is if Riese & Müller will ever make a bike that's designed as more than a yuppy commuter. When I started 6 years ago I wanted the best all-around ebike possible and that's what I have... a better ebike than anything produced today. It's easy, start with the best touring frame built, add a 1000W mid-drive, use a pair of 58.8V, 35Ah (2058Wh) lithium packs. I have only seen 2 Riese & Müller bike rolling but have never seen one in person or in any pictures or videos that are carrying front panniers or handlebar bags... I wonder why that is. For all those below that undoubtedly are commenting on their future purchase of a Riese & Müller... you can do so much better while spending less money and be able to maintain the bike. - photos.app.goo.gl/ADgC6oyPM2gyrCq27

      @@ysesq Well, then that's ridiculous! An undersized motor with small batteries in exchange for a belt drive? Look... I'd love a belt drive but with a continuously straight chain line to the Speedhub, I get 6 months out of a chain (approx 3000 miles) and one side of the rear gear with minimal chain fuss. That's less than $50 a year and I can do it on the side of a trail somewhere if necessary. I know that I can ride anywhere that overpriced wonder can, can carry more weight while towing a trailer, can ride faster and further, and be able to take full advantage of any future motor or battery upgrades. Or let someone strip the motor off, ditch the battery and ride to Argentina like John Isles and Cathy Colless did. The best thing about using a BaFang BBSXX mid-drive is that you can start with any bike you want... the perfect bike for you, for how you want to ride, and with an investment of about $1500.00 you can have an ebike that will beat any simular production ebike sold today. If you own that perfect bike for you then $1500.00 and a little homework. Tell me something Ms. Anonymous, have you ever seen a R&M with front panniers?
