I love the universal impact the beginning of this song has on everyone. and then there's that moment when Delp hits that first "away" and you realize this is going to another level.
This was recorded in the guitar players basement in 1973. It went gold in one month! The sudden fame overwhelmed the lead singer Brad Delp but he pushed on. This album to date has sold over a billion copies world wide! The second album went gold in 3 days! The lead singer was put under so much pressure to tour and perform that he took his own life to escape the sudden fame. There is no disaster like success if you are not ready for it. He will be greatly missed.

Boston emerged in 1976 from guitarist Tom Scholz... Brad Delp (vocals) and Sib Hashian (drums) helped record that first Boston album which sold 17 million copies in the US til today! 🔥🔥🔥 Unfortunately, after Boston's 2nd album "Don't look back" in 1978, Scholz turned the band into a solo project w/ the 3rd album "Third stage" coming out 8 years later... that was the last album w/ Brad Delp on vocals (He ended his life in 2007 😷 Sib Hashian passed away in 2017)
Tom Scholz has recorded Boston albums w/ session musicians since 1994... but none have matched the success of those 1st three albums w/ Brad Delp on lead vocals.
This song is so great and you have to love it, its just rock and roll at its finest and cruising song , everyone was playing Boston

It should be noted that Darrell ( the Rock Johnson's) father in law was Boston's drummer Sib Hasian.
Interesting fact; the lead guitarist, Tom Shultz was an engineer at M.I.T, and recorded this entire album in his basement. He played all the instruments, wrote all the lyrics, and produced each track on his homemade equipment. He then called in his friend, singer Brad Delp to do the vocals. Once it was all completed, he then shopped it around to various record labels. Most passed on it, but once it was signed on with a lable, and started getting air play on local radio, they then realized "dang, we need a band, so we can start to perform live". The rest is history. For decades after, their debut album was the biggest selling one of all time. To this day, it's still one of the best!

Interesting fact befire this was released it was actually recorded in a CBS recording studio. Maybe it started out in a 70s basement but professional recording right here
@@allensaunders449 Only the vocals were recorded in a pro studio. Capitol in LA. A mobile recording unit was used to transfer the tapes from Tom’s basement. These were then mixed in Capitol with the vocal takes.
@@Dreyno the album was released on epic records not capital I thought they were associated with CBS might be wrong there. Capital records no. There are alot of myths regarding this first release. The initial tapes were from his basement. Many professional changes before release

One of my favorite bands back in the day. They put out a lot of really great music. I'm glad you have this Boston video turned up loud, so we can hear the music over your running commentary.

The 1rst Boston album is an absolute masterpiece. Outside this song, "Peace Of Mind" and "Smokin' " are classic anthems. Another great Boston from the 70's: "Don't Look Back".
During the 70's, there was another band more or less in the same vein (but with a harder edge): Starz. If you want to check out this band, I suggest you songs like "Cherry Baby", "Sing It, Shout It", "So Young So Bad".
