Addressing poverty, mental health and educational issues through social entrepreneurship.

Evidence suggests a strong relationship between poverty and mental health which is cyclical: poverty increases the risk of having a mental illness, and having a mental illness increases the risk of descending into poverty. Over the years,through similar holistic innovative scientific intervention endeavours, Dr.Margoob,s research has clearly established that efforts to address the burden of Common Mental Disorders(CMD) in Low and Middle Income Country settings like Kashmir where only 7% of treatment needing mental health related problem patients are getting professional help will continue to be dismally limited if the service activities remain restricted to individual-level institutional interventions alone. Crucially, it is community interventions that promote security, education and social welfare and health safety nets that are more likely to protect the mental health of populations, and allow for the full development of human potential.
