I've seen worse ads than this. Nationwide dropped a Super Bowl commercial with a kid who turns out to be dead, talking about avoidable accidents. People went nuts. Nationwide later said it wasn't about selling insurance but starting a convo. With how much those Super Bowl spots cost, that's one pricey way to make a point. Take it as you like. And loyal customers are one thing, but you can’t make MORE money by having the same customers. The point of advertising is to get NEW customers and get old ones to come back. If you deter new and old customers your business loses money.
Pride is what causes a lot of businesses to fail. There are a million other alcohol stores and Mexican restaurants that don’t make those types of jokes on billboards and will gladly take your paying customers from you. So you have to put your own shit aside if you want to survive and make profit.

So if you have an ad that reaches ten times more people because it offends 23% of people, then it clearly benefits the business. In reality the ads probably reached millions from going viral and only a minority have an issue.
