She is placed on my great ones playlist and this song is forever great. Believe it or not I met her a long time ago when I was visiting LA . She was doing a live show at a club. This was before she became big. What made night remembal was that was the first time a lady ask me for a dance.
My ABSOLUTE favorite vocalists are women, Angela. Lately I've been listening to "Nights Over Egypt" by Incognito featuring assorted and varied female vocalists on assorted live performances and recordings. And of course the original by The Jones Girls.
I love everything about this song. Her voice, the beautiful ambient music and the message. The lyrics/subject matter actually reminds me of a song from a completely different genre...Highwayman by the Highwaymen which was a group of country music legends.
I love a lot of Teena's songs, but I've never heard this one before! I share your sentiments on this song! It has a profound message that some may not be in line with! I don't know if we're in a simulation, or if our souls live on in different ways, or so many other possibilities, but I hope the next existence is an improvement for all! Dionne Warwick also performed a song titled Deja Vu in the late 70's or early 80's which is distinct from this one, but also worth 🎧 listening to! Have a great one! Goodbye!
Angela-You are doing a terrific job with your song reactions.I would like to suggest for FridayNight / Ladies Night the song “I Have a Love / One Hand , One Heart” by Barbra Streisand JohnnyMathis(her favorite singer). This is a dynamic performance by this perfect pairing !!
Thank you, BB, for this request. A classic! Angela, I’m not sure if you’re being sincere with mentioning that Teena played guitar 4x. You could be applauding her for that OR you’re trying to make Lady T more palatable to your classic rock-loving subscribers.
I cringed at her reaction _ONLY_ bc at 53, I’m old enough to know the song, Biko, “Cry Freedom, and the anti-Apartheid movement. Angela, my guesstimate, is in her early-mid 30’s. Having subscribed to her channel during the early part of the pandemic, I’ve come to know what to expect from her reactions. She’s aiming for this professionalism (among TH-cam reactors) but she often falls short. Doesn’t have the bandwidth, the life experience nor the exposure to appreciate certain things. “Biko” is one of those travesties. As for researching, in fairness, many music reactors do not bother hence the “brain dead” comments. I applaud them for their courage, their hustle ie appearing on camera to give their opinions and opening themselves up to criticism. I always keep in mind: these ppl aren’t broadcast journalists. They’re just trying to generate some revenue.
My favorite Teena Marie song. Such an awesome singer, songwriter, producer and musician. Miss her so much 💔
This is what we miss about Teena, so poetic and prolific ! Please don’t miss the last verse! We love you and miss you “ Lady T” !

She was a true musician! Miss her.
I have always liked this song. Great voice.

I always thought this song was dreamy.

That's the feeling I get when I go to work.
Angela, saw her in the 80s!!😂
Lady T KILLED IT

You should listen to Rick and Tina "Happy".
Yes dance at the end of the the song.... Angela! Like to see ya dance disco.
Your reactions are always amazing. I hope you get to react to a-ha take on me (mtv unplugged) . Its a different version to the original.
Everyone , I beg of you , please spell her name right ! It’s “ Teena”, not “ Tina” . That is how you spell her name ……
Thank you. What I always found irritating was often the misspelling came from within her own fan base. 🤦🏽♂️
Gurl RULED r&b music back then .
Yup. 80’s R&B had quite the talented female singer collective: Teena 🕊 , Phyllis 🕊 , Stephanie, Evelyn, Deniece, Anita, Regina, Vesta 🕊 , Miki, Shirley, Meli’sa, Angela Bofill 🕊 , Angela Winbush, Alyson Williams,Sharon Bryant (Atlantic Starr), Joyce Kennedy (Mother’s Finest), Renee Diggs 🕊 (Starpoint). 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
So great! Like a gospel song! So long...8 mins!!
Rick James produced this.
That is such a wonderful song
I watched your reaction to Biko and from what I saw you are Brain Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
