      @@SomewhereOnTheOutside I think it has something with her label too. She was MEANT to be a star qhen she signed the contract. She had the notes so she jumped 70% of the path, u know? I guess that her record label painted her with this image of "she hit the highest notes, say that on TV" so they were always be surprised by any high note she put in a song. I mean, theres a lot of singer who can hit higher notes tham Mariah but… Shes the known one, shes the legend. Period. This narrative of “highest notes” and blablabla being repeated countless times on tv gave her a thing to be remembered of(besides her unparalled talent of course)

    I think the F#8 was Mariah! she opens her mouth in the same way she does to hit whistles now, the dolphin was very surprised, and the tone difference between the F#8 and the dolphin is quite different as well

    To ke F#2-F#8 is pretty accurate and its also her total vocal range that i think she always had.

    • @lightning0506
      @lightning0506 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since when is it accurate, when both extreme notes aren't within her comfort zone and not even legit vocals?
      F#2 was pure air and mostly imagined, while F#8 was an M4 whistle, which everyone can do with a bit of practice and go much higher than that, including notes in 9th octave as well
      Mariah's actual range at her best would be something like G#2-G#7 (highest limit is unknown, but considering she never really hit highest notes in M3 whistle since 1993, not really singing above C7 at all since 1998 I consider this as her border)
      P.S Also, considering that Bb7 issue - there's an alternative source with higher quality which doesn't have that artefact, which Thi Hills channel has, hence this note was G#7/A7 peak, not a Bb7

    People are obsessed with Mariah's range, that they forget about the most important thing in a singer's voice: CONSISTENCY! Mariah sure have an impressive vocal range, she can go down to Tenor low C (C3) and can even go all the way up to Soprano double high C (C7) and that's her best, I'm not saying that she can't go higher or lower, but we gotta agree that her voice has a center... and those super high notes and super low notes... Come on (nobody has a perfect consistency with more than 4 octaves)... She sure have full voice, but she's right... it's "not possible" to sing all the way through a whole show f.ex., it's still very impressive that she could keep her consistency:
    C3 - G5 - C7 (a Full Mezzo-soprano).

    • @lightning0506
      @lightning0506 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      C3-G5-C7 is a very typical trained soprano range with whistle register, even some males can possess that kind of range + it's literally the most used range in music

      Her tessitura (where her voice naturally seats) and voice size/timbre/type is a typical mezzo
      Remember whistles Are disconnected register
      They've nothing to do with soprano high C or whatsoever
      Whitney Houston for example couldn't whistle but her voice type is a typical soprano in her heydays as she got higher tessitura and weight/timbre/size of a typical soprano & coloratura
      With her well developed chest and HEADVOICE

    • @lightning0506
      @lightning0506 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Swahili14 Mariah isn't a mezzo, that's an extremely weird way of thinking. She was never comfortable singing in lower parts of her range, mainly staying within F3/E3 area as her lowest consistent notes and even they were often meh in quality
      Her voice wasn't simply developed enough to possess solid soprano qualities, as she mainly relyed on heavy belting and whistle register (btw, that's a myth, whistle can be connected quite easily and many singers has proven that), but even with such voice she managed to belt many F#5's and G5's in the 90s
      What you're saying is like saying that amateur tenor, who struggles beyond G4 is a baritone, that's just illogical way of thinking. You aren't born with perfect voice, I possess a voice of a high tenor, yet I struggled as low as E4 during my bad days, cause I have a bad health overall, doesn't change my voice type though
      Same applies to Mariah, she was often alleged to having weak health + nodules (which I believe weren't there till like 1998), so it's very understandable, why Mariah wasn't able to showcase her soprano abilities to the full. Doesn't change a fact she was a soprano. Her voice got lowered in 2011 significantly after giving a birth, that's when you can call her a mezzo, her current voice (as if it wasn't bad enough) isn't just mezzo, it's just an extremely damaged voice with almost no consistent range at all

    The problem is that many want to extend an vocal range that is already huge. For me, Mariah's vocal range is only valid if it is sung.
    Putting inaudible notes and exclamations that are often not so valid is not fair!
    Mariah's vocal range is already really big and it's a good size!
    I honestly don't understand this obsession with her vocal range and the obsession of many to add notes that "don't exist" or put pitch to say that this is the "highest vocal note she reached in belting" whether in live performance or on studio albums...
    How long are they going to insist on this?
    If not even the singer herself knows what her real vocal range is!

      @@ilovetati91Im not lying. This "Bb7" is only present in one tape (populatised by one lamb). Other (and newer) sources of this performamce dont have it, you can check it by yourself. Unfortunetly this Bb7 is just a poor quality artifact.

    Poor people who are nonstop reling on ‘how high’ anybody goes.. Mariah is all about many other details.. there are a lot of people who can sing high.. this is not importante…

    The dolphin clip is not real come on, lol. 5 octaves and some change is plenty for a GOAT female vocalist. Rare, but if men have the top part of their range they can surpass that easily. She's also one of the few singers I can think of without a real break in that range, meaning she has the ability to hit all notes from the top to the bottom.
