I grew up on lady T and yes she was white and black she wrote the most beautiful songs just an incredible talent. Oh and let's not forget she play guitar and piano and wrote all her songs and played the instruments just bad.
I'm 67 years old....Tina infected the pores of our soul, back in the day... And actually ANYBODY who listens to her catalogue of music will get infected too😂 A TRUE GIFT FROM GOD...💖👌 NOW.....Look up: ( IF I WERE A BELL ): The Live version with her and her piano accompaniment.... OFF THE EFFING CHAIN 😂❤
Ultra talented, ultra deep, she has a permanent pass to the cookout. Her portfolio us very deep and I hope you do dig deeper into this phenominal artist!
Just to let you know how talented Rick James was, he wrote this song for Teena Marie. Rick James is very under-rated musically. Teena wrote the lyics and Rick did the music.
This was a standard on the R&B scene. The song that introduced her to the soul/r&b scene. Thus was born the Lady T icon/ legend. She's royalty in the black community. Her Songs that are well known to us would be considered rare gems to you because they didn't cross over.
@@PaulPalmer-rs1foNot true. Teena wrote most of her songs as well as handling production including the horns. Let's not forget all the instruments she played.
I clicked on this SO fast when I saw which song was being reacted to. My FAVE Teena Marie song. The lyrics are so very profound. They transport me to the stars every time. Rick James knew what he was doing when he picked up the pen for this one.
Lady T is one of my all time top 10 favorite singers, I remember seeing her in concert in 1980. A few of my favorites are Aladdin's Lamp, I Need Your Lovin, Behind the Groove, Turnin' Me On, Miracles Need Wings to Fly, Why Did I Have to Fall in Love, just to name of few. Be blessed.
Now that's the true, blue eyed soul sister for real! She was definitely on some supernatural stuff with that Heaven blessed voice! In a class by herself
Teena Marie was not before her time - she just wasn't appreciated. Her combined talents of writing, producing and expression was beyond many of her peers. She was shunned because she sung R&B music, and many of her friends, band members and lover were also African American. As for the sound and style of music, this was the typical skill level and feel that 90% of the R&B Artist had in the 70's and 80's. Rick James, her mentor, lover and friend was her influence, as they and the Stone-City-Band made great tunes. Much love love little sis!❤ ... I have subscribed, and will listening and commenting! #PraisEluJAHRadioSHOW #Philly 92.9FM
So unappreciated for her soulful voice by so many. How many times, I can't count. These ladies of soulfulness, blue eyed or not. Everyone can feel it at their soul. Canadian Grandma hearing underappreciated artists, who cares about color. God's children are all and one. Canadian Grandma Lori.C.
Ok miss Ashly let's see what you have here today, the title Teena Marie - Deja Vu. Yep, I know where this is going and nope, I'm not experiencing Deja Vu either. I just know the hypnotic, captivating, sensuous powers of the 70's and 80's music. You're going to defiantly do that special thing that you do with that pen of yours' involving a certain playlist. Great reaction as usual.
Everything she was singing is REAL!!! We are incarnated many times on this planet 🌎 earth. We have been man and woman in our life time. ITS ALL TRUE!!!!
~try duet with Rick James "Happy"(puts F & D to shame imo), "Irons in the Fire", "Portuguese Love", "Out on a Limb, "Ooo La La La", "Young Love", "I Need Your Lovin'", so so much she added to people's lives. What a beautiful soul.RIP
Love your reactions to old school music. It makes me smile. Lady T (aka, Teena Marie) has always been my favorite singer. He catalog is amazing. Please react to Portuguese Love. You'll love it. Keep up the good work.
The soul feels like the Universe It's vast and never ends Stars to me are the Children Babies are my friends God is like a galaxy Within my spirit flies Felt this way a million times Please don't ask me why
Flute man went crazy on this! Lady T was amazing and she stays in rotation! The live version is 🍌 🍌🍌 Btw when she dropped Square Biz “we” didn’t know she wasn’t a “sister” 🤷🏾♂️
Tina Marie just kept getting better. It didn't seem possible, but she sure did accomplish these musical creations with the least amount of 'drama' that so many other musicians seemed to have recording hit songs. I've heard how others have struggled to keep making albums that surpassed their previous ones. Tina Marie seemed make her music effortlessly. She continued to amaze me with better and better music for many years.
Teena Marie. Lady T, as called, you already know she passed, the day after Xmas. Her name was Marie Brochert. I don't know why she was named Teena Marie. Beautiful voice. She sang to a predominantly Black audience. Her & Rick James collaborated on that 1. I enjoy her music & I did have MOST of her music. Yes she was a special one. LOVE her & you too!!! R.I.P. I think she died about 2010-11.
You definitely need to dive in! Here are my favorites, and this is only scratching the suface......Let's go with 2 jams to start...."I Need Your Lovin'"&"Square Biz", and now the epic ballads......"Portuguese Love" "Have My Cake And Eat It Too^ "Casanova Brown" "Aladdin's Lamp" "Dear Lover" "If I Were A Bell" "Irons In The Fire" "Out On A Limb" three more jams "Lover Girl" "Behind The Groove" "It Must Be Magic" etc. So many more.....just a few to get you started! 😉😁
You HAVE to go down her rabbit hole..."I Can't Love Anymore"..."Young Love"..."Dear Lover"..."Miracles Need Wings To Fly"..."Where's California"..."Out On A Limb"..."Irons In the Fire"..."How Can You Resist It?". I could go on...and on...and...on...
I used to be a queen you know In a island by the sea With rainbow coloured people Happy as can be Never had a problem There never was a care And Love was ever flowing and it's feeling shared

The lyrics were so well written back in the 60”s,70’s and 80’s from so many great artists! That’s was missing so much in today’s music!

Ms Teena was a child actor before she was a singer. Not many people know that.
