  • The opening intro to Howards' Way, the 80's BBC Sunday night soap. It ran for 6 series from 1985-1990, and was the BBC's answer to the likes of Dallas and Dynasty.
In this scene, Abby Urquart has given her baby to Orrin Hudson, her American ex-boyfriend. Her mother Polly and stepfather Gerald say goodbye to him and the baby.

No crappy social media messing with our heads, just freedom to go out & enjoy the big wide world & be a kid.
Take me back one more time & I am sure many like me would do the same, unlike know days where they’ve got a bloody phone glued in their hands with their heads transfixed to the bloody things.

Music sounds like a track from a 1980s corporate cd.

There are two versions of the theme to Howard's Way. The outro theme was far more upbeat and even more 80's

This series was a somewhat clumsy and misguided, but nontheless great antidote to the gloom and grit of that dreadful, pitiful soul-suck "Eastenders" Sadly, the deluded masses relate more to the dreary and the dire than the ambitious and aspirational.
Go compare the theme tunes, and tell me I'm ******* wrong.
...Jan Howard or the hideous, chain-smoking Dot frigging Cotton??......errrrr, now let me think...

Primus 777 So true, 'EastEnders' was and STILL IS grim! Same goes for all the other soaps!

Primus 777 Having watched both at the time (I was too young to know better) I think they were both dreadful looking back. What always amuses me is the way the ugly, souless city of Southampton is made out to be something like Florida. As for your comment that it was both ambitious and aspirational: there were loads of misery - a boat blew up which nearly caused the company to go under, there were marriages problems, fights, adultery - basically Eastenders on the south coast !

God that Abbey was a misery-guts. I loved the sailing and the music but Abbey brought a real East-Enders gloom to things.
