I've got the 2018 black and silver one, my first triumph, love it, I chose it because of the colour, I didn't like the colours of the street twins. although it could do with another gear. changed to higher handle bars, I swap the seat over to a bench seat for when the misses wont's to come out for a ride. thanks for your vid Andy.

Always a great review. I will be riding my Street Cup on a 500 miles total-round trip from Atlanta to Tennessee in a few weeks. Will take intermediate breaks as required in the trip.

First thing - the mirrors. Dealers have set them up wrong, they should be the other way round with the wide part to the outside, then you don´t have such a wide bike, the rear view vision is still just as good, even better actually.
I have now done 5000km on my Street Cup. and the fuel guage corrects itself a lot quicker now after fuel stops. Ecconomy is excellent.
The handing problem you had is down to cool weather and cool tyres. Now that I have got them well scrubbed in and up to temperature they work fine and have now very narrow chicken strips. The bike handles great now, although I will be changing the tyres for something else when they wear out.
To carry a passenger you need a replacement seat. Under the cowl is a hump. I have invested in a spare seat from a T100 and only comes out when the wife wants a ride.
I also had a centre stand fitted for the reasons you mentioned, and also knee pads.
After 2 months and 5000kms of ownership I am very happy with it.
    Good video you made too......

Does the T100 seat or street twin seat bolt on directly to the street cup? I dont understand why the cup comes with passanger pegs from the factory.

@@HooDRidEWhiteY Yes it does, although it is slightly longer than the cup´s original seat.

Cracking review, im a 45year old who passed his full test a few days ago and the local triumoh dealer has a brand new one of these down to 6995 otr, do u recommend the street cup as a good nice first bike, i was in there looking at the street twin but the cup took my eye, i can have the handle bars changed for 250 if once i test ride i prefer the trad type. Be intresting to know your thoughts.

@@andrewharris7123 Hey Andrew, I just picked one of these up. You've probably bought a bike by now but just for anyone else sitting on the fence, I'm an experienced rider but I would say these would make a great first 'big' bike. The power delivery is very smooth and there's really nothing to catch out the inexperienced motorcyclist. If you're ok with the riding position then go for it.

I have a 2013 triumph explorer with 25,000 miles on the clock, absolutely love it , no problems with it just the rear wheel nuts, three have gone rusty plus the front brake hose connecter has gone rusty, it always lives in a garage and is kept clean. the rest of the bike has kept it's looks especially the exhaust down pipes.

    • @Branchofzion
      @Branchofzion 7 ปีที่แล้ว

TheMissendenFlyer yes. I haven't taken her in the interstate here and I'm not allowed to filter here in Ohio but she's great around town. Sometimes I feel she lags at lowers speeds. But that could be me trying to get used to shifting and getting a feel for what gear she should be in.
I've only done a little night driving and sound the lights to be pretty good.
      She does sound awesome.
      Brakes have been perfect.
I have found maneuvering really easy but I haven't been as tight a space as a garage just a drive way and didn't notice anything awkward.
That's all I can remember right now.
      The seat is very comfortable.

Another great long term review. Those 90 degree tyre valves are something every bike manufacturer needs to look into. I bought a 90 degree valve that you can screw on in seconds but I don't always remember to carry it with me when riding. I know what you mean about the bar end mirrors. Since fitting them to my MT125, it's now way wider than my Tracer. I've clipped a couple of wing mirrors during the morning filtrage. lol

It leans into corners...so does the Super Ténéré that I test rode, and so does my new 2019 Africa twin. You will get used to it quickly, I know I did, and I love it that way. That same effect makes for very tight U-turns as well. Scary at first, but then it’s okay, I’ve not dropped the bike yet, and I’m not even a seasoned rider. Quite new to Adventure bikes, and any bike over 400cc.

Awesome videos thanks! Ive tried a T100, 1200 thruxton (too aggressive), considered the Speed Twin also (I can afford it but its just too much bike - maybe a in a few years time). Have decided on a Street Cup coming back to two wheels after a couple decades away. Buying it sight unseen as its too far way to look at. But at 5000km on the clock, and 2019 - can't go wrong. Practically all the reviews online say how great it is. Your videos helped a lot. Just subscribed. Cheers

Front Tyre is 100/90-18 on 18 x 2.75in wheel in the specs I saw, that's a little larger and narrow compared to a 675 Street Triple and might explain why it tips in easily with probably less feel but I guess you'd get used it after a while. Great review of the practical aspects of owning and running the bike.

Great review. Had a nice long sit on a silver and black one of these at the Bangkok International Motor Show yesterday. Love the bike. The only thing I'd change is the bar-end mirrors for ones that are flush with the grips. This brings the total width of the bike in-line with that of a Honda PCX 150 scooter--great for filtering in Bangkok. Keep up the great review...Cheers....John.

The fuel gauge thing - a common "problem" I think, my T120 has to be absolutely to the brim to register full - and it takes a few minutes to register after re-fuelling. Also had dials changed under warranty - condensation in them. There's been a few I think - Captain R had his replaced on his Thruxton. Nice sensible review. (Still loving my RE - you really must get one!) Regards, Jon.

My GS is the same. I'm guessing the fuel level & avg consumption/range displays have a lot of damping built in so that they're not constantly fluctuating when the fuel sloshes around in corners (or wheelies), or when you give the throttle a quick goose for an overtake before settling back to a cruise.

Great review as always, I test rode the new (ish) scrambler last friday, and I must say its a good bike. Great review as usual. I love the look of the Street Cup and kind of hope my son buys one... One thing, it rather looks as though you were still sitting astride the bike as you refilled. Not good policy for safety reasons and in fact here in Oz if you try that the pump console operator often won't reset it for you until you dismount! Without the stand down the bike isn't earthed and a small fuel spill onto your pants could also be dangerous.

    Hi TMF,
Another interesting review as always. But I have been wondering why Triumph do most of their classic bikes with spoked wheels. From an aesthetic view point spokes are best...but...spoked wheels usually mean inner tubes and this is a big deal if you are unfortunate enough to get a puncture on the road. Cast wheels with tubeless tyres can be plugged in 20 minutes if you get a flat. Triumph could think about offering tubeless spoked wheels...I would be happy to pay the extra cost.

Really enoy your real world reviews as opposed to the usual bike mag reviews where paid journalists get to ride around some beautiful location in a foreign land while pretending to be racing through the hills when they're actually on escorted rides. Your reviews are far more informative of what an owner would experience on a daily basis. As a side note, here in the USA, the covers on the fuel dispenser handles are the opposite of Europe. Here, diesel nozzles are green and petrol ( or gas ) are black. Just a heads up to any European visitors planning to visit the States and rent a bike or car over here. Getting it wrong would be an expensive mistake. Cheers.

+gwynn romano Good call Gwynn! Wonder why we're not all internationally synchronised on this one? I also love the way you can lock US pumps in the on position whilst you fill up - not too much of an issue on bikes but my car holds 120 litres and that takes ages to fill...

    • @gwynnromano5881
      @gwynnromano5881 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

TheMissendenFlyer The only negative to having pump handles that lock on is that people are not always the brightest. I saw a woman last week start filling her car and walk away to shop inside the store (against the law ). Evidently she didn't have the nozzle all of the way into the tank neck and as a consequence the automatic shutoff didn't trigger and she was pumping fuel onto the ground until the guy across from her car noticed and ran over and cut it off. That could have been a real disaster. As they say, you can't fix stupid.

I really love the looks of this street cup. The closest dealer to me has a 2017 model available new, do you happen to know of any changes they made to the bike for 2019, I don't know where to look for that info and my dealer is absolutely worthless when it comes to asking questions like this, there answer is we don't know. I read somewhere that they moved the weight lower but not sure if that's true. Thanks for the review and your help.

For me it’s up against the street scrambler but that would come with more associated costs for me (more knobbly tires, higher starting price, etc.) and I prefer the look of the Cup. I just don’t want to feel uncomfortable / look silly.

When looking at Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 salesman came in and told me they had this regular customer who switches bikes every couple months so had them hundreds and said to them apparently that if could only have one TTS 1050 would be his ultimate allrounder. I found it interesting. Having thinking how would this compare to beloved GS.... which one would be your one and only bike TTS 1050 or GS and how would you support this view?

  • @TheQ427

Hello Andy one Q: when I had a test ride with both, the ST and the T120 I had the feeling that both bikes like to run wide at first when approaching a corner and suddenly (when getting slower) the steering starts feeling light as if the bike would like to immediately go around the corner. It feels as if I would need to fight the bike which than unexpected turns. I also noticed that in roundabouts I feel like I'd lean more to the inside than the bike is willing to go (runs wide and I have to force it arround). In contrast to my TEX which simply behaves the expected way of "it goes where I direct it".
What's your take on the STCup in regards to the steering behaviour?
    Stay safe.

    Hi Missenden Flyer,
How do you find the street cup for taller riders? I'm 6ft and I have bought the bike, I'm just apprehensive when it arrives it might feel cramped on longer rides? I am used to smaller bikes having only owned small bikes before. (Honda CD250U, and BSA C15). But nothing with a more racey geometry.
