I live in a village in South Africa, trust me when I tell you there is no church in my area that does not preach prosperity gospel. It's exhausting trying to find a good gospel preaching church.
Hey there, brother/sister. Perhaps this could be an opportunity for you to plant a gospe-centered church in your area. Are there a few brothers/sisters you could work with to get something started?
I'm African, and many in the West may have no idea how enticing this stuff is. Anyone who reads the Bible very quickly starts to poke holes into this whole man of God thing, and it's breaking apart families, wreaking lives etc. Thanks Pastor Conrad for the work you're doing that's exposing this stuff and hopefully we'll see a turn around in people's lives towards God.
Is worse in Ghana , people has being so brainwashed to the point that they have even afraid to call out these false prophets , I went to a church and pastor squeed everything by curses ,so they members were so afraid that they didn't want to question anything Am glad i found a Bible teaching church
I do outreach in black communities here in South Africa with good Gospel tracts. When someone asks me what church I am, I respond I’m a Bible Christian: I read the Bible, I pray the Bible and I live the Bible. I also encourage them to start a Bible study in their homes and invite some friends and work through a Bible book at a time interspersed with Psalms; not a verse here and a verse there. Start with Genesis chapter 1 to six, then do Psalm 1 to 3, then Matthew Chapter 1 to 3, etc
I'm grateful for this interview. I've been a missionary in a central African country for nearly 40 years, and Pastor Mbewe has summarized what I've always thought. The prosperity gospel is a real plague here
Thank you for talking about this. It’s a huge issue in Nigeria where I am originally from and has been imported to the UK where I live. Deeply saddened by it. I was once caught up in it but God in His mercy opened my eyes to the truth. Now I am so grateful for the cross.
@@earthandouterspace446 A lot is wrong with Adeboye’s theology and preaching. If you can’t discern what’s wrong with it, then, with all due respect, may be you should question your own understanding of the Bible.
@@earthandouterspace446 the main thing that is wrong with his teachings is that he doesn’t teach the true gospel. The gospel is about Christ, about us becoming more like Christ, about living each day for Christ and not about things. We are already blessed. We do not need to do anything else to be blessed. Please study your bible. Ask God to show you the truth and you will know it for yourself. Every blessing.
@@earthandouterspace446 The problem with playing hide and seek with "Blessings" is the fact that you ignore the greatest blessing of all. The atonement we received through Jesus Christ. The problem with Enoch Adeboye's preaching is that Christ isn't enough for him. There has to be some other incentive for the faith. More, more, more. Contentment is nowhere to be found. Endurance and long suffering is totally ignored. Faith becomes this immaterial source of power, and it's not about having faith in God. And that's just a tip of the iceberg.
I live in Nigeria and what the pastor said is 100% accurate! God recently delivered me from the prosperity gospel I was in for 26 years! It wasnt easy and didn't happen overnight but i finally left in 2021 and never looked back. I joined a bible believing Baptist church in my area but now i see so many of our members being enticed my the message from the outside. Its my life's mission now to contend for the faith and protect our doctrines
May God have grace and mercy on us all but even more in places where the truth is being suffocated by heretical teachings that fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
I minister frequently in Central Africa. When a missionary (white/European origin missionary) speaks against the "prosperity gospel", he is accussed of wanting to keep the Africans in poverty; that he is "racist" and does not want to share the full blessings of the Gospel. It requires a lot of wisdom to take a stand against "the prrosperity gospel" and not be rejected by the African churches.
The prosperity gospel was first created & introduced by Oral Robert’s in the USA and it became intertwined in all main stream charismatic churches around the world - along with this came the New Thought teachings (not to be confused with new age) - it’s very easy to mislead a vastly uneducated population especially biblically
I know about New Age but first time hearing about New Thought, I have to research it, so many things disguised as truth but just lies from the pit of hell.
Iam in uganda kampalA I have been away from church for almost 4 years. Iam so sad that I am scared of getting brain washed again but also I can't grow spiritually without a church...am stuck . Please pray for me to go back to a sound doctrine church. God bless u guysl
The reality is Christ left his Church and left His body and blood which we must do to remember Him- the Eucharist. Pentecostals turned away from Church and would brainwash us that we weren't born again; only to find out later that born again actually is done through baptism and profession in Christ is done at Confirmation.
In African Traditional Religion the chief, witch doctor and even husband's are intermediary to have a relationship with God. Culturally the understanding is that you cannot access God without an intermediary. False prophets in Africa have latched onto this to make themselves a part of if not the replacement for these ATR intermediary. Teaching must show how the only intercessor now is Christ Jesus, not even your own pastor.
Makes sense why pastor Voddie might be out there as well, so wild the prosperity gospel has expanded out there, but the enemy knows no bounds. God Bless Costi
The fire was started in the West, specifically in the US by people like Oral Roberts, Kenneth E Haggins, Kenneth Copeland... we now have an unquenchable wild fire in Africa fuelled by predisposing cultural and traditional customs
Yeah.. a dear friend of mine is a self proclaimed "missionary", who goes to Africa often to teach them to have visions and speak in tongues. He doesn't realize he's essentially a witch doctor with better marketing.
Wonderful interview thank you, this is basically what happened to me in UK going to church, hoping to get my felt needs met, being encouraged in this and then disillusionment and seeking for the true gospel ❤❤
It's even worse in Malawi. 99.99% pastors are teaching health and wealth gospel. To find a sound church is not easy. Now even in the remotest Area, the very out skates the prosperity gospel has reached there 😢 Sad

I believe it is so popular, first is because we are fallen sinners. Secondly because much of Africa is very poor and are desperate so they listen to these charlatans instead of Christ.😢😢😢
Nigeria has 200 million people and maybe half of that number are supposedly Christian. This prosperity gospel together with fake tongues has destroyed Christianity in Nigeria. I guess poverty has a lot to do with it and the thinking that you just depend on a man of God for your salvation. Africa needs a true revival.
No such a thing as the prosperity gospel. The Gospel is good news and that good new comes with healing , prosperity(spiritual and materialistic) .The bible says he was made poor so that we can be reach. This is so indiscriminate. I am at minute 10.00 and pastor Mbewe has not used any Bible Scripture to defend his argument. Yes, there are problems with the prosperity Gospel but i bet a prosperity pastor can quote Scriptures to defend himself than Pastor Mbewe can quote to attack him.
I find it funny. They criticize the prosperity gospel with merits but they seem to be sitting very comfortably. If they truly believe it’s not biblical then why aren’t they in rags and outside or in some horrible setting. Always pay attention to what people do and not what they say. Both seem very financially comfortable as they criticize.
😂 they’re not criticising. You certainly miss the all point of this interview. Please listen to it more than twice and then bring me up all your questions. Thanks
Yes ... they are sitting comfortably. There is nothing wrong with "sitting comfortably"; your wealth is the result of good honest work. But if "sitting comfortably" is the result of dishonest, fraudulent, decietful actions, then it condemned. Most of the "propserity gospel" preachers teach that "prosperity" is the result of giving financially to THEIR church/ministry and neglect the role of hard work and honesty. Jesus said "you give the tithe of the mint and the cummin but neglect the more important matters of justice, faithfulness and mercy."
