@GodzillaMendoza Dang dude, just watching this video makes me so hyped about this character, imma read some of his comics, seems like a REALLY COOL Character. Love the vidz ❤️✌️
When Logan did the whole “comic book is unrealistic.” joke, it actually worked in the context of the story because that’s how the kids saw him and the X-men.
Plus in the comics marvels exists as a company and publishes story’s about the hero’s that bend the truth to make it seem prettier. Hell Steve Rodgers is even an artist for them so if anything I’d say that was meant as an Easter egg and less that eww comic books stuff from the early 2000s
My favorite thing about Marc is that he just does not understand how to STOP. Dude be screaming in the rain with 14 broken bones still tryna fight like a damn wildman. Pls calm down Marc I'm worried about you
I only knew of Moon Knight through one Spiderman crossover comic and I gotta say I had no idea he could get this wild Well, off to the comic book store!
They need to do the opposite of the "costume hang-up" trope, and instead, have a Moon Knight series where he refuses to put up the costume at all, ever. Sleeps in it, goes out in it, and alienates everyone around him because he likes the suit so much
Yeah excpet make it where he takes off the mask and gloves and shoes but show it off a little bit without giving away his identity but when he is at home. That is the only thing he wears is his costume sleeps in it takes a shower in it eating in it all that
It would be interesting if at one scene of an episode, he takes off the suit, pretty much gets stripped naked, and when he looks at the mirror, he's fully dressed, so you wouldn't be able to tell if we're seeing from Marc's POV and one of the personalities put on the costume without him knowing or if that's how he sees himself all the time
I love that the character with split personalities also has such an array of comic storylines to him. Imagine a show where season to season the main actors stay the same but the director and visuals and pacing are completely unique? As if it’s being told from one of Moon Knight’s personalities/perspectives, then the next, etc. An exquisite corpse of a show.
Hi future man here the pacing of the first episode follows Steven where even you can nearly tell what’s real and what’s a dream. Spoiler For example it starts steven is laying in bed trying to fall asleep then he wakes up in a field where people start shooting at him. Then when he wakes up it’s exactly like he went to sleep so you think it was just a dream, then it’s told that it’s 2 whole days later. It was pretty good but that’s just my 5 cents
Even in Ang Lee’s Hulk that everyone hates he’s jumping around in big step stretchy purple pants. It’s kinda funny how these writer and directors like to somewhat disdain material that they chose to adapt.
Or The First Avenger where they made Cap’s traditional outfit a purposefully cheesy PSA one that he’s embarrassed to wear and abandons as soon as he can.
@@redstreak9430 But the movie afterwards makes an entirely faithful and really nice rendition of caps outfit, the cheesy psa costume was for world building
The cheesy suit helped fix some of the tonal contrast of him dressing all goofy while fighting an army that was committing the worst genocide in the history of humanity. Then in Homecoming he does the goofy boyscout thing again and it's endearing
I'm glad the show so far isn't shying away from the supernatural and alternate perspectives. Kinda wish Marc got to be more brutal. If you can't do blood, have him break his victim's bones. Blood isn't the only way to show brutality.
Welcome to episode 4, where (im gonna try to avoid too many characters spoielrs and be vague-ish) a character has their arm ripped off and has the bones protruding out of it, just to use it to try and stab people. its so sick I love it
since i watched the moon knight series before knowing anything, and after finding out more about the character, i hope the second season is just batshit crazy
The costume part I think Feige knows to keep it. He’s the one to suggest that Fox gives Hugh Jackman Logan’s pointy hair to make it like the costume and comics.
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 You’re seeing them on blurry concept art. Also it’s not going to be super colorful it at least has color. Not to mention the character changes from the comics.
@@shangtsungmonks From what I know of him, Feige was described as a walking Marvel encyclopedia from those who worked with him on Marvel films as he served as an Executive Producer for a good chunk of the pre-MCU Marvel films: from FOX’s X-Men films to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy and Tim Story’s Cringetastic 4 duology, the guy also knows what makes a movie good and memorable as much as he knows what makes the characters of the Marvel Universe fun and memorable in the eye of some fans. DC wishes and dreams to have someone like Kevin Feige in charge of the DCEU instead of that jerk Walter Hamada.
@@uscman Idk, at the same time DC was releasing the Dark Knight trilogy, Marvel had put out a lot of properties that ended up being shafted, a lot of which Kevin Feige had his name on production titles, so I'd say he got lucky when Disney bought Marvel and he pretty much built the MCU like a big comic book series. Specially if you consider how their film business model had never been applied before in such a scale, shareholders could've fired him on the spot if even one of the movies failed at the box office. Maybe DC will get to do that with the success of recent new titles they never thought of doing before. I mean, the fact they're still up and people are starting to enjoy it, they might get a turn of events this decade.
I doubt it. I want to be hopeful, but if bloody marvel studios cannot depict bloody Peter Parker correctly on the big screen, I doubt they will faithfully adapt MK.
@@zemox2534 the reason he isn’t portrayed like he is in the comics is because we have had 3 interpretations of the character within 10 years of each other so the very large difference between them makes sense
The MCU Moon Knight suit is by far my favorite. I’ve never liked his comic suits, except for one which I kind of like. I want Egyptian aesthetics and THEY DID IT. It looks perfect.
I want him to meet Dr Strange and make some dry joke about Werewolves and then Strange confirms they exist and he responds confidently cuz he knows he could take one
I'm a huge Moon Knight fan...he's the character that originally got me interested in comics. I agree with a lot of your points, cause I'm apprehensive about his characterization on screen more than the plot points , especially when it comes to his Dissociative Identity Disorder. I really hope the screenwriters take the approach that the Lemire storyline did, where Marc's experience of death/resurrection and interaction with "Khonsu" was so shattering to his psyche that he developed alters to cope, one each representing a different aspect of Khonsu that Marc witnessed/interacted with. Basically, I hope they don't do the whole thing that a lot of writers do with DID, where they use the mental illness as the whole gimmick of a character and overdramatize it (usually for shock value or to make up for lazy screenwriting), instead of integrating that one mental illness into a larger framework to create a well-rounded character that we can be interested in as a person, not as a mental illness. Also wanted to say great video! Glad I found this channel and I'll definitely check out more vids!
I’m hoping they go back to his roots & just keep the other identities as cover identities. I haven’t been a fan of the mental health issues since they’ve incorporated it within the last 15 years.
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 about the current interpretation? I’d go back to Marc being a believer; did Khonshu resurrect him? Does Khonshu guide him? In the initial run, the Khonshu statue was destroyed and Marc was lost about who he was & what to do. I’d drop the DID stuff. The extra identities were always just cover identities. The same that he’d have use in the CIA. If you’ve watched Burn Notice, the lead character uses them all of the time. Keeping essentially 3 cover identities separate can lead into situations where he gets confused about who he is, but it’s not DID. I’d make sure his suit is jet & silver, with no mention of being white. For the series, I’d streamline his origin and make him a former SHIELD agent who became a merc after SHIELD fell (in the Winter Soldier).
@@anerrantknight8077 I see. What did you think of The Lemire and Ellis runs? I need to watch Burn Notice, hold up a bit. And also, what I’m getting at is you want the character to have an Identity Crisis rather than DID, right? I’d be down for more characters like that. Only other one I can think of is Kabuto Yakushi from Naruto
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 I’m not a big Mr. Knight fan (it’s easier for writers to use that instead of putting him into the MK suit). Plus, then he’s got yet another identity that really “Moon Knight” fills. Between the two, I thought Ellis’ run was better. Lemire’s run had some interesting moments, but again, that really went all in with mental disorders. Yes, I prefer the idea of him having identity crises (at times) then DID. In the initial run, there were only a few occasions where Marc didn’t recognize what identity he was using. When your oldest friend (and enemy) call you “Marc Specter”, while your love interest calls you “Steven (Grant)”, and you remind both “I’m in my Jake Lockley clothes now”, it’s hard for me to buy that it was a mental disorder.
Yeah the scene in Logan was less about "hey, look how dumb this is" and more "it's disrespectful to see how trivialized the people whom I loved be watered down with fake stories".
Plus it was made in the FOX timeline where Mutants gained just a bit more respect from humanity, even though they were slowly dying from those chemicals in food and drinks.
The Jessica Jones one too as the costume has a direct connection to her trauma, asking her to wear that is like asking her to have a PTSD attack. It’s bad enough she has to directly confront Kilgrave, imagine the shit he’ll do to torture her if she came at him with that costume on.
I feel like the show could do what the more recent comics did. The whole standalone episode structure would be great. Have the first episode set up Marc and his origin and then have every episode after he different
I really doubt they will do that since that structure is very network TV like. Streaming services excel at delivering long-form movie-type content, which is what shows like Mandalorian and The Queen’s Gambit are. Making a Moony show and making it an episodic affair would be very disappointing. At the end of the day Feige doesn’t want these tv shows to be seen as side content for the MCU, they’re basically 6-hour movies.
@@Melkac stand alone episodes would not be disappointing if they are well written. We need variety. Stop copying the other shows. If the show is going to be a success it needs to be its own thing and not cater to the mainstream.
I doubt they'd actually do that. Even in Wandavision you can see they're trying to do a more regular narrative structure, where the story may be very surprising but the way it's told is rather meh. If the show was done by someone else like FX or HBO or AMC, then I could see that and I would love it, but Disney... feels like it's gonna be just a watered down generic show for teens
I think the most important part of the comedy aspect, because it's in the MCU, is they need to write jokes AROUND Marc's DID without making his DID itself into the joke. Hopefully they could just get a showrunner who has DID to head the show, but I don't think the MCU is gonna do any more than just have 1 consultant with DID to make sure it isn't just straight up offensive.
@@adwitatherealadwita According to several DID systems who have made reaction videos, they actually did a really good job. Marc threatening to throw their body over a cliff if Steven romantically pursues Layla is a real thing, according to a specific system's episode reaction, alters in a system can feel jealousy towards another if they are aware of each other, like Marc and Steven have become at that point. But they also said him punching Steven in the face isn't a real thing, an alter can't take control just for split second like that, but it was a funny moment, because sometimes an alter can want to punch another in the face, but they really can't. (All said in the reaction I watched, I don't have DID, just so I'm clear)
@@Hey-Its-Dingo I was moreso talking about him punching himself in the face and Marc forcing Steven to not hand over the scarab. I think they've been able to achieve funny moments without having to do stuff like Marc punching Steven, so it kinda just rubbed me the wrong way. That and the way the system operates throughout the show seems really inconsistent especially with the comic version, although I understand them trying something new from the comics I still think that each director interpreting the system differently for their episodes leads to it being represented a lot worse.
@@adwitatherealadwita The comics were WAY worse about representing their system. The show does silly stuff like this because it's the MCU, but they have been infinitely more respectful than the comics ever were. Up until very, very recently, the comics tried to say that it was Khonshu reviving Marc that gave him DID in the first place. (And don't even get me started on the goddamn Captain America and Spider-Man identity theft alters from Brian Michael Bendis...)
Depends, hit or miss, currently, DC is doing it perfectly, some rough bits at the start, but TSS and Shazam had AMAZING comic suit adaptation, omg, I can't get enough of comic accurate Peacemaker, looks so good, THAT'S how you adapt a comic suit imo
I sort of want this series to be sort of anthology. I had a thought that maybe the framing device of the series could be Specter sharing stories about his life and/or superhero stories in therapy. Definitely do the “maybe real magic maybe mental illness” and occasionally make Konshu f u c k i n g t e r r i f y i n g please.
it’s like when Banjo Nuts and Bolts made fun of the classic Banjo Kazooie games. It wasn’t clever, like when rare used to do it back in the day. It was just insulting
“He’s not Marvel’s Batman.” Exactly. SO many people that have never read MK immediately jump to that tag and add “he’s crazy.” ASBAR aka Crazy Steve was crazy.
His craziness was the reason I thought he’d be better for Marvel Netflix. Though I’m confident with the show on Kevin Feige being an Executive Producer, Oscar Isaac’s casting, the choreography and violence in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (especially when Bucky impaled that bounty hunter with the metal pipe) and training vids posted have me more confident with this show.
Or a bunch of people see him with those stupid comic book edits that make him seem like Deadpool. Frustrating how so many people don’t understand this great character
@@johnstevens1380 yup like that random bullshit go meme and the give me my money one. A lot of bandwagoners are going to compltely misunderstand his character going in
Just because they're both rich people who throw projectiles that look like their costume logo, doesn't mean they're the same. It's like saying Nightwing and Winter Soldier are the same. They aren't, even though their character trope may make them seem the same.
One thing I remember is that the individual runs tend to differ on the actual origin of Moon Knight's condition, typically hanging it either with the author or with recent-for-the-time changes in the world's general understanding of D.I.D. For example, in the OG run, his personalities were cover identities that became more and more real, while another had Khonshu be the one to directly cause it and yet another has it having been there since childhood, at least with Steven. And in the runs where it's not Khonshu that caused it, he's usually exacerbating said condition.
And I loved how when she and the other main heroes wore their classic comic book costumes for the Halloween special, they didn’t mock or make fun of them. Say for maybe Pietro with Vision’s costume.
@@uscman There was the joke about Wanda's Halloween outfit looking like Red Riding Hood by One of the kids And lame from Pietro but you r right. Plus it was Halloween so no reason to make fun of it.
Something funny is that I watched the series not knowing anything about MK, I only thought of him as Marvel's batman. I really liked the show and went to the comics (Ellis and the recent 2021 run, and some of Lemire's) and realized that comic's Moon Knight is far more better that the show. Still a good show for me
This is so rad, I’ve always like moon knight so seeing how my fears for the show are shared it make me feel better about worrying for this show but also hopeful that they keep the writing good and the characters better.
"The series will follow the "action hero" on the streets as he "jumps out of buildings and gets into fights." "Feige also touched on the fact that the series will explore Spector as a Marine having Dissociative Identity Disorder, adding that "the mental illness is a unique aspect of the program." Moon Knight is also confirmed to explore ancient Egyptian iconography."
The moon based powers made perfect sense seeing as he was revived by the moon god and his life force being tied to konshu would mean he’d be stronger/weaker depending on moon phases etc. though I think the first season should focus on the mystery of what’s in his head and what is genuine mystical powers and less on the specifics of how they work and change within him. Which considering the changing nature of the character can easily be enough to hide that for a season so the moon aspect of the character can be explored and add new layers in later seasons
After seeing the first piece of trailer footage for the moon knight show, it honestly kind of feels like they took Xavier’s advice from this vid, and it definitely looks pretty promising.
@@ratchetxtreme6591 even with much weaker effects and less steam I still feel like episode 3 is phenomenal for the character. I dunno how I feel about the other avatars, but I do like how they realized Konshu and logically there isn’t only one Egyptian god.
@Cpt Dinosaur Are you a troll or something there were only 3 gay people in season 2, is that really too much for you? And Season 2 took place in the 1960s thats when the civil rights movements was happening of course there was going to be black people. And only one of the main characters is black. Season 2 was similar to season 1 because they were going back in time to prevent the apocalypse after they accidentally were the cause of it in season 1. Besides that season 2 was way different we got to see the character dynamics among the siblings change and how they interact with a young Hargreeves, it took place in a different time period, and in Season 2 the cause of the apocalypse was from a nuclear war. You should really go back to watch season 2 if all you focused on was how only a few characters were black or gay like that really matters.

I think Marvel stopped doing the MCU synergy thing when Bendis left. Now that he’s 100% gone (hopefully forever) the characters can go back to being what they were before, or at least resemble their past depictions.
16:54 to be fair to Logan, the scenes where he dismissed the comics were in character for him (at that moment in the story) and were setting up his berserker rage in the forest at the end.
I think it would be interesting if they had a subplot about MK’s separate personalities in a struggle with each other, only for the conflict to peak in like the second to last episode of a season or something, where they go all out in that episode, with different directors and styles being used for each of his personalities perspectives (similar to what was done in the second volume of lemire’s 2016 run)
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 people consider the Joe Kelly and Gerry Duggan runs the best, while the Skottie Young and Daniel Way (even if I liked Way's run) the worst.
I also feel another reason a lot of us comic fans are worried is because we realized more than anyone else how formulaic the MCU brand is. Are they willing to do the weird storylines and will they stick to the same exact good guy fights bad guy one? Moon Knight could very easily become one of the most creative superhero shows if they incorporate every good aspect of every run. Hell it could be the Disney + Daredevil series, except it will put Moon Knight way up there so there is no comparison, hes not white Daredevil he's not Marvel's Batman, he's the household name the distinguished Moon Knight!
With it's currently announced Marvel stuff, it seems like it's becoming less formulaic. Wandavision looks.... weird as hell and nothing like they've ever done before. Falcon and the Winter Soldier looks like a regular marvel movie, i admit. Loki has an interesting setting that COULD make for a super cool story unlike anything the MCU has done before. Holland's Spider-Man 3 is going to bring in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and a few of the bad guys from those films. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is going to directly lead off of Wandavison and Spidey, and is about the literal multiverse. What If....? is about alternate realities. So, HOPEFULLY Moon Knight can be original and shine.

I’m nervous about the portrayal of D.I.D. So often, like in Split, it has such a negative impact on the community. Hopefully they do there research or have a disclaimer that it’s not an accurate portrayal
Moon Knight is gonna be Disney’s take on daredevil. Daredevil was a smash hit so if they can replicate what they did and move it to Moon Knight, he’ll be a great addition to the MCU
I really hope they do a deep dive into the other characters in his life as well. Outside of his relationship with Khonshu, the relationship with Marlene is one of the most unique I've seen in comics. Marc's DID has serious implications in his relationship with Marlene, especially with the fact that she only really seems to love him when he's Steven Grant (which is why I found it weird that Jake was the one that got her pregnant in that run). She's a spoiled, rich kid that just wants to have a normal, care-free rich life and hates Moon Knight so much that she walks out of the relationship in the Fist of Khonsu series. She's constantly straddling the line of genuine care or manipulation.
@@roberteospeedwagon8178 that's not what an adaptation is m8. What Disney just did was just straight up replace a main character of the MK mythos. Marlene should have been in this series but wasn't. So many aspects that Disney didn't have to change but did and that's a tragedy as a MK fan. its whatever honestly because Disney can do whatever they want but that doesn't mean we have to like it.
I think what would be sick is if like Mando, have a different director for the episodes. So say they do a season so every i dunno, 2 or 3 episodes is a different identity, a different director, well, directs it. And then have a finale that has parts of each of them.
I don't read comics, but coming back to this after the first season is over, I think it was fantastic! I though the writing was really tight, the relationship between Marc, Steven, and Konshu was hilarious, and even the supporting characters like Layla and Taweret were really funny. I got really invested when we learned about Marc'ss backstory and how he created Steven as a coping mechanism. Seeing Steven realize he wasn't the original was heartbreaking
@@marveyzing1495 sorry Bru but X for Doubt they were able to tell the origin of how Mark became MK. They completely nailed the relationship between Marc and Khonshu. 26:16 that's how I feel about the Wade and Blind Al stuff from the comics though (only really bringing this up as rebuttal to the concept of movie Deadpool being too tame for not having it). It comes off as overly edgy and ghoulish for no real reason (as far as I can observe) and I think the character's mythos going forward is better off without it. You can have him be an asshole towards her but save the unhinged stuff for his actual enemies. And yes he has been watered down quite often and I'm not saying he can't be a psychopath but as a character with a complicated history with morality (especially with being an assassin and mercenary at times) I think he should stay away from extremes on either side. Perhaps he shouldn't be saving puppies or donating to orphanages but on the flip side he shouldn't be mindlessly kicking said puppies or burning down orphanages either. But take money for shooting a politician that's I dunno, about to crack down on crime or something, thus indirectly helping a drug lord keep pushing addictions on the youth? Yeah that's the kind of moral quagmire that's interesting for Deadpool. Maybe he inadvertently helps out after the fact by killing that employer too for the fun of it, not even for justice, just to satiate a bloodlust. Or maybe he just goes about his day after collecting the paycheck and doesn't think twice about it, thus helping villains with his carelessness. But the Blind Al stuff was like him deliberately choosing to be an outright villain and over a long course of time no less and I didn't really get the point of it.
Disney aren't watching any TH-cam videos about how to write these characters. I can confirmed that Kevin Feige is staying true to this character's story and background
Revisiting this after the show. I think the show had some really good stuff and served perfectly as a sort of orgin story for Moon Knight but there was some parts I diddent really enjoy.
yeah like the fight scenes they were really cool, oh what about that cgi, the random powers from nowhere, layla's random superhero ****, every identity serving the same purpose as a superhero and that's to fight
I'm glad a video like this exists, because I desperately struggle with understanding Moon Knight. I read the Ellis run and really liked it, but that's about it. I never know how to approach the character. Marvel's characters always have an elevator pitch origin, but Moon Knight needs someone to hit all the buttons. I will say in the Dante example, they do make that stupid joke with the hair, but the game concludes with him getting his white hair.
I'm pretty sure they said at the Disney investor panel when they unveiled it that they were going to delve into Moon knights disassociative identity disorder
Yeah but they said it was gonna be like an Indiana Jones style show which is not at all I’m gonna do is you’re gonna make it campy and fun instead of serious
@@730jangofett They didn't say that at all. They stated that it will be an action show that they will explore his disorder and the Egyptian mythology that the character praises so much about

That Konshu comes too late. The damage has already been done before he moves. Ammit on the other comes too early tho, even willing to kill a child if he has the potential to kill 40 years from now. Both are extremes.
@@Carabas72 I'm not defending the acts of the villain but his point is if we kill all criminals, sinners, and people who overall make others suffer, we would have a perfect world, look at the street in ep 2 for an example the people were peaceful, friendly to one another and as the main villain would put it: it was once a street littered with crime, and now people are safe to have their doors unlocked. essentially all of humanity would be safe if we erased all criminals, sinners, and evil overall.

I've found the best runs are the ones where Khonshu is a constant presence to Marc, be it antagonistic or friendly, instead of just a statue like the early runs, and also where Marc's alters are given good characterisation, instead of all just being basically Marc in different outfits
Very interesting workaround they came up with for the suit(s), eh? It and his powers stem directly from his DID, where he gets to wear something comic accurate, but only for the action scenes so the actors get face acting time. They broke out the Mr. Knight suit very early, but that doesn't mean he can't do *both* suits. Plus, the story is (so far) told from Steven Grant's perspective, so if they want to have our main character commit multiple brutal murders, they can, but Steven blacks out during it to keep ratings down. Best of both worlds, IMO. I'm just worried that all the fight scenes we *can* see will be against mythical monsters (minus the eventual Harrow fight). It would suck to have every fight prior to the finale be just...jackals.
My only exposure to Moon Knight was Web of Shadows. He seemed pretty subdued compared to everything you mentioned here so he didn't catch my eye, but now I think he sounds super neat.
One thing I would LOVE to see is a character being (for one reason or another) in a prototype version of their hero costume, look in a mirror and just go "that looks so... hmm... actually I like it! needs work though."
The immortal hulk book gives me hope that even if the show is changed the comics will not be effective. That hulk book is nothing like any of his movie appearances and he is one of their most well known characters.
Couple things here: - was this an excuse to rant about the Netflix Marvel shows? - people who go superficial with the Marvel Batman stuff. Moon Knight is way more like the Shadow - he didn’t mark criminals until Huston’s run. It’s actually the Phantom who marked criminals (and allies with his other ring). Before Huston decided Specter need to have mental health issues, Moon Knight would leave bad guys shadowed by a crescent dart. - the DID is also new. Grant & Lockley were just cover identities (like the Shadow used) originally. The idea originated from his covert days. The Michael Westen character in Burn Notice illustrates the notion nicely. - he also wasn’t as aggressive until the Huston run - no love for Stain Glass Scarlet or Morpheus?
@Kevin Byrnes the Bat is iffy. The Bat (later Black Bat) came out at the same time Batman did. I’d say they used Zorro, the Shadow, & plucked ideas from the Phantom also. You’re right though, hardo Batman & DC fans tend to think Batman started it all.
@@lucasnova323 since the early days of Marvel, they’ve shared the same creative crew. They both “copy” each other because the same dudes would use the same concepts for both companies.
Stain Glass Scarlet or Morpheus.. well I would substitute the first with Elsa Bloodstone when they get to Werewolf by Night (maybe, if that happens) and yeah maybe the second basically as he is... I dunno
Yeah I was so annoyed by not seeing any of their costumes at all. Like Daredevil's costume in the Netflix series was so cool, I would have liked to see what they could have done with the other characters of the defenders.
I think the second season leaves things off in an interesting direction. Jake Lockley seems to be the most violent and unhinged of the Moon Knight identities, for this universe, anyway. My pitch for next season would explore the role Jake Lockley plays as Khonshu's sleeper agent. Literally. Jake could be keeping both Marc and Steven out of the loop on his actions since he's constantly drugging them. He could be monitoring their sleep schedules and be planning hits while they're both sleeping. He could keep them asleep for days at a time so Jake can launch a major strike at some criminals. We could further explore the persona of Mr Knight in this way. He's a supernatural detective, so I think having Steven, the Egyptologist, in this persona, is fitting for this story. Both Steven and Marc are putting the pieces together over the run of that season. Yeah excpet make it where he takes off the mask and gloves and shoes but show it off a little bit without giving away his identity but when he is at home. That is the only thing he wears is his costume sleeps in it takes a shower in it eating in it all that
Interesting, a ton of Batman stories do the same thing
@@nathanielhaven3453 Alas, we did not get a rainbow batman who alienated his friends and family
@GAMER TEN Yes
Spoiler

Even in Ang Lee’s Hulk that everyone hates he’s jumping around in big step stretchy purple pants. It’s kinda funny how these writer and directors like to somewhat disdain material that they chose to adapt.

Idk, at the same time DC was releasing the Dark Knight trilogy, Marvel had put out a lot of properties that ended up being shafted, a lot of which Kevin Feige had his name on production titles, so I'd say he got lucky when Disney bought Marvel and he pretty much built the MCU like a big comic book series. Specially if you consider how their film business model had never been applied before in such a scale, shareholders could've fired him on the spot if even one of the movies failed at the box office. Maybe DC will get to do that with the success of recent new titles they never thought of doing before.
@@anerrantknight8077 what would you change about it?
I usually hate it when they do that with comics but I feel like in Logan it fit the tone and the way he was thinking.
Yeah, the Logan scene wasn’t a very good comparison.
@@Kaliospectre ive never watched it but that is a good reason
@@zemox2534 Which it is its own thing while being connected to the MCU
I doubt they'd actually do that. Even in Wandavision you can see they're trying to do a more regular narrative structure, where the story may be very surprising but the way it's told is rather meh. If the show was done by someone else like FX or HBO or AMC, then I could see that and I would love it, but Disney... feels like it's gonna be just a watered down generic show for teens
@@Melkac which is exactly the problem. They feel like stretched out movies, not TV shows.
They made it basically the Hulk. Because who takes mental health seriously?
I think they've done this really well, for example the gag where Marc takes control just for a split second to punch Steven in the nose in episode 4
@@Hey-Its-Dingo I was moreso talking about him punching himself in the face and Marc forcing Steven to not hand over the scarab.
It really is a good intro, but once you understand each, Moon Knight is obviously a combination of Joker and Batman; which is entirely messed up.

MCU hasn’t been formulaic in a long ass time.
@@Melkac ....unless if you count "Non formulaic" as not having had any movies in the last year, your wrong.
The comic thing works in Logan, but that's it
Agreed, Logan is super bitter so it makes sense for him to be cynical and edgy.
Jessica Jones experienced her traumatic experience in the costume so that works too.
Well so far it turned out great; well written and beautifully acted.

They didn't even use Marlene in the MK series.

I think what would be sick is if like Mando, have a different director for the episodes. So say they do a season so every i dunno, 2 or 3 episodes is a different identity, a different director, well, directs it. And then have a finale that has parts of each of them.
"He's just a guy in a suit" Lmao. I wonder how that turned out
I don't read comics, but coming back to this after the first season is over, I think it was fantastic! I though the writing was really tight, the relationship between Marc, Steven, and Konshu was hilarious, and even the supporting characters like Layla and Taweret were really funny. I got really invested when we learned about Marc'ss backstory and how he created Steven as a coping mechanism. Seeing Steven realize he wasn't the original was heartbreaking

they were able to tell the origin of how Mark became MK.
They completely nailed the relationship between Marc and Khonshu.
Why couldn't Steven be Steven in the comics, and why did Jake have to be a hitman when that has never been a thing Jake has done, Jake is a taxi driver.
Hopefully Disney will take this info pretty well.
They probably won’t though.
@@kone0198 exactly, they never ask the right questions

it's a great show so far, though i do wish Marc and Steven did wear the suit more often.
They gotta include the best moon knight scenes, like the time he ate 100 turkey dinners in one sitting
"imagine Moon Knight gets a 13 episode season" That hurt.
Hope this video comes back into ppl's recommended. This man is our comic Gandalf
and your fears were true
18:54 oooh well guess they threw that out the window
I'm glad a video like this exists, because I desperately struggle with understanding Moon Knight. I read the Ellis run and really liked it, but that's about it. I never know how to approach the character. Marvel's characters always have an elevator pitch origin, but Moon Knight needs someone to hit all the buttons. I will say in the Dante example, they do make that stupid joke with the hair, but the game concludes with him getting his white hair.
I recommend Jeff Lemire’s run
I'm pretty sure they said at the Disney investor panel when they unveiled it that they were going to delve into Moon knights disassociative identity disorder
@Cpt Dinosaur What are you even on about?
Which sucks because he's a horrible representation of DID.
@Cpt Dinosaur are you high? I think you're talking about the Netflix's show where they are making King Arthur a girl.

A movie idea: thunderbolts is lead by two soldiers at the end it's revealed one of them is Marc spector and the other one is bush
Welp, they did kinda made the villain have a point but I love how they also just made Steven shit on their point with his "so you're okay with killing kids?" argument lmao
Are you okay with killing kids? If you know for a fact A mass murder will kill hundreds of people when he reaches 25, why not stop that at 5?
@Jayanth Reddy I don't think that was about Steven's character. They're saying he destroyed their argument.
How does the villain have a point?

Never clicked faster in my life.
It would suck to have every fight prior to the finale be just...jackals.
imma need a follow up tot this video now that the show is out
My only exposure to Moon Knight was Web of Shadows. He seemed pretty subdued compared to everything you mentioned here so he didn't catch my eye, but now I think he sounds super neat.
Yeah turns out he is exactly like the comic cuz he talks to himself in public and literally fights Himself 🤣
One thing I would LOVE to see is a character being (for one reason or another) in a prototype version of their hero costume, look in a mirror and just go "that looks so... hmm... actually I like it! needs work though."

Ohhhhh boy, I really wish they made this show instead
The immortal hulk book gives me hope that even if the show is changed the comics will not be effective. That hulk book is nothing like any of his movie appearances and he is one of their most well known characters.
That comic is so fucking good man.
Couple things here:
- was this an excuse to rant about the Netflix Marvel shows?
- people who go superficial with the Marvel Batman stuff. Moon Knight is way more like the Shadow
- he didn’t mark criminals until Huston’s run.
- he also wasn’t as aggressive until the Huston run
- no love for Stain Glass Scarlet or Morpheus?
@Kevin Byrnes the Bat is iffy. The Bat (later Black Bat) came out at the same time Batman did. I’d say they used Zorro, the Shadow, & plucked ideas from the Phantom also.
You’re right though, hardo Batman & DC fans tend to think Batman started it all.
@Kevin Byrnes And? Batman was inspired but the rest is original. Marvel sucks and copies everything from DC.
I dunno
@@lucasnova323 Marvel ameliorate everything, DC is boring and their characters have been the same for decades
We could dive into the role of sleep deprivation on mental health, and we can learn how it's been affecting Jake Lockley as he's taking the body on murderous joyrides. He's so unfazed by violence that he lives for the kill like an adrenaline junkie seeks dangerous stunts. Just an idea
I completely agree that season 2 should be heavily focused on Jake so that we see a lot more of the batshit crazy Moon Knight
season 2 should fix everything and take Moon Knight back to the street tier. But alas, Disney wont do that.
Welp, we'll find out on March 30th.

It was fine the first few times now it’s just getting repetitive I was hoping they’d do something different with mysterio since Tony’s dead but nooo gotta go back to that well that’s been run dried and I’ve heard rumours that taskmaster is gonna have a connection to Tony stark come on there’s got to be a better way to write a villain’s backstory and motivation without the stains of red and gold armour man all over it again love mysterio in far from home just hate that he’s a member of the “I hate Tony stark” club
Well I don’t think it’s fair to put Vulture or Zemo there. Zemo was upset with all the Avengers and he used their leaders to split them up, in fact he probably did more damage overall to Cap by the end of the movie than Tony
Vulture on the other hand was affected by Tony but he was more upset at the system and just wanted to stay a small time criminal, in fact he wanted to stay away from the Avengers at all costs, he never really had a hatred for Tony like the rest on the list

I'm a bit late but Obadiah, Hammer, Whiplash and Mandarin should not be on your list. They are Iron Man villans, it is within their DNA to be linked to Stark. They have to be within the Iron Man mythos. Saying you're sick of them being linked to Stark is like saying the Red Skull shouldn't oppose Captain America, it doesn't make sense for them not to clash. The other characters are fair game tho.
