      hi ben, what's the reason behind leaving the "show existing reactions, comments and shares on new ads" box checked? wouldn't it carry the comments and likes from the original ad that you have duplicated, I think that this will affect our testing environment negatively if that's the case. thanks for the awesome videos btw...

    • @BenHeath

      @@ahmetkayrayavuz1421 good question but I'm more concerned about performance than 100% accurate testing. Often there is a bit of a trade off between the two and I prefer to go with 80-90% accurate testing options that come with better performance. The same logic applies to split testing and why I don't often do it.

    Correct me if I’m wrong but you’re just saying to test new creatives/ads inside the same ad set that you is working/running? I find that when this is done, Facebook does not allocate spend to the new ads launched and keeps the budget on the ad that has most spend. From what I’ve seen you really need to test new creatives in a new ad set (same audience), find the winning ads from there, drop the new winning ads into the winning ad set.

    • @liteolika1784
      @liteolika1784 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it’s better to turn off the camping and create a new one, where you put the winning ad sets in it?

    Hi Ben! thanks for your excellent content !! One question: I've been consistently increasing the budget of a conversion campaign by 15% - 20% every 4-5 days, but at one point it stopped delivering good results. Sales fell from 9-10 a day to 2-4. Do you think it would be nice to go back to the budget before the last increase? Or does it have more to do with seasonality (half a month and purchase intention)? I would definitely appreciate your answer. Greetings! Peter.

    Hi Ben, hope you’re doing great! I was just confused about something. Each time you pause the losing ads and introduce new ads, wouldn’t you run the risk of resetting the learnings of that particular ad set? Or does each new winner get a new ad set? 🤔 and once a cbo campaign has 3-5 ad sets, would you create a new one for new winners?
    For example: let’s say your testing campaign is ABO, and you have tests running for Product A and product B, so would you scale the winners of each in different new campaigns like scaling campaign A and scaling campaign B? And if so, every time you found a winner for A, would you push that into the same ad set in scaling campaign A or new ad set? And once the 3-5 limit is hit, would there be another scaling campaign A?
    Sorry about such a long question

    The problem that arises after these suggestions - budget allotment. FB will do it as it feels like, which can be troublesome and can really blur out real winners and/or losers. It wouldn't be best to say that 200WC/10 PUR/5 $ CPA is better than 2000WC/100PUR/ 8 $ CPA purely because of CPA. To have a higher test accuracy, you should run tests under levels of budget allotment (a.k.a traffic, but different Ads will have different CTRs so budget allotment is more precise).
    I believe a A/B testing guide (or same budget allotment guide with FB) would be in demand since it is pretty tricky.

    Hi Ben, I only have 1 campaign with 1 ad set - I've been running a single ad that's been doing decent for me. I want to test new creatives - would you suggest I test the new creatives in the same ad set? Or, a different ad set? What're you thoughts on testing the new creatives at a new campaign level? My main concern including the new creatives at the same ad set/campaign level is FB algorithm would focus more spend on the oldest, 'best performing' creative.

    Ben, thanks for all your advice. I've been running dynamic creative, but you can only run the one DC ad in each ad set. The only way to improve conv costs is to tweak the DC ad and it starts all over. From a testing perspective, do you think it's better to run four standard ads and maybe try dynamic when there's more data to pinpoint what specifically worked from the four ads?

    Do you put both your single video ad and your 4 photo ads that your comparing in the same ad set? as it seems a lot of extra time and money to have an entire ad set for 1 video ad, and therefore having 2 ad sets per geo location. The objective is to see which image performs best and whether video or image performs best. all other variables are kept the same. I cant seem to find a clear answer on this. Thanks!

    Hi Ben, I'm Brazilian and a fan of your videos, you are the only one on youtube that addresses very specific issues. I have the following question: is it possible for a new ad to be able to receive a larger budget than an old ad that already has engagement, in just 7 days? I ask this because I find it difficult to analyze whether a new ad is having better results, as the investment in it is always much lower than the old ad. Best regards!

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot Mateus. Yes that does happen but not very often - perhaps 15% of the time. If you introduce significantly better ad create than what you already have, you are likely to see that happen.
      If that doesn't happen, I'd give the new ad some more time, eventually it will be given enough budget so that you can analyze it properly.

    Hi Ben,
    You say you only look at what brings the cheapest CPA and don't pay attention to the volume. But what about the breakdown effect? Isn't this just the case that Facebook looks at what's most scalable based on the budget and, consequently, prefers an ad even if the CPA is higher, because the other ad with the same budget would then be more expensive? Or am I wrong?

    Great vid, super useful like always. Small insight from a low budget advertiser point of view (me):
    when you duplicate an ad and edit it with new creative a lot of the times, the "old" "successful" ads (like #1 in your example)
    will "drink" all the traffic of the new ads. Its like FB can't give them a chance (by traffic I mean Reach).. I got that a few times, then after pausing the good ads sometimes the new ones shine, and sometimes it messes up everything and then even when I unpause the good ones, they no longer perform that good... Its weird, don't really have a point here, just sharing :)
    Note: Naturally with low budget Im not running 4 ad sets with 4 ads each but more like 2 ads sets with 2 ads each tops mostly less (1 ad set with 2-3 ads)
    Note#2: By "low budget" I mean around $5-10 daily per campaign
    Thanks, this is great stuff

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question and the answer is patience. That happens quite often and it's best not to change anything until Facebook does give the new ads some love. Facebook will do so eventually and it will take a lot longer with smaller budgets.

    • @nitinsapra1626
      @nitinsapra1626 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @benheath In the continuity of this comment.
      Let's suppose we want to test more creative in the existing ads set and if we are making new ads (by duplicating them as you suggest) then we are giving new variables to Facebook and now there can be 2 cases:
      Case 1: we give new ads creative to test so facebook can give more money to new ads to test them and in this case result from existing performing ads may fall down
      Case 2: we give new ads creative to test but Facebook is giving money to only performing existing ads creative and in this case testing is not done properly.
      Please share your inputs on these 2 cases, does this thing happens in Facebook according to you?
      And what if we just duplicate the performing existing ad set and run the performing existing ads creative along with new ads creative so that this ads will start from fresh and all ads can test proper.
      What you say @benheath?

    Hey Ben, Your channel is my go-to place for Ads and I literally make it a point to watch at least 1 video every day :)
    A quick question here. I have multiple markets to target. Let's say for ex: Painters, Business owners.
    1. When there are multiple markets, how is pixel handled to perform well.
    2. In this particular video, let's say I am running ads for Business owners for a long time and kind of have the winning audience so creative testing is easy.
    But then I am starting a new market, the audience is new, the ads are new. How would you here identify if there's a problem with ad or the targeting?
    is starting with the engagement objective to know what creatives work a good idea? and then lead gen?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Richa, that is great to hear.
      1) I don't worry about this too much provided the products or services provided are similar
      2) I wouldn't start with alternative set up. To workout where the problem (if any) might be you want to break down the process. If you are using similar ads to those used in previous markets, then it's more likely to be your targeting that's the issue.
      You can also test a bunch of options. If 1 of 4 ads work, then you know the other ads aren't going to cut it. You can do the same thing with your target audiences. You can never know the answer with 100% certainty but by going through that process you'll get a good idea over time.

    Hi Ben - you got really awesome content, yours is the most professional looking FB ads channel in my opinion, thank you!
    Your video raised 2 small questions for me:
    - Would you still recommend to use CBO to test creatives when campaign budget for testing is as low as 7,5 Euro per day, or would you go ABO then? (remember you mentioning CBO is underperforming with less than 100 Euro per day budgets)
    - If working with a small budget, how would you determine if the ads/ad sets ran long enough to draw conclusions or let them run longer? I heard: When each ad hits 1k impressions. Whats your opinion on this?
    Thanks alot
    Best

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot Gerhard.
      1) At that budget you may be forced to use ABO. You probably only want 2 ad sets as well.

    Outstanding Video! but I do have a few questions:
    Firstly, is each ad a different format (vid, image, etc.)? for example (Example Ad 1 vid - Example Ad 2 image - Example Ad 3 Slideshow, etc.)
    Secondly, when you pause under preforming ads and add in new creatives are you now testing headlines, ad copies, etc. Or are you still testing different formats?
    I definitely could have done a better job with the above said, hope to hear back from you soon!!

    I have a question.
    Thank you for this video, first and foremost.
    So the question is, I'm running ads for a makeup industry, spending $5/day using conversion campaign on purchase. The product price is $14.99. But what I want to ask is should I be using engagement campaign and optimizing it for post engagement so I can have a social proof before I run ads for conversion. I mean the product is being sold by many suppliers and they are adveritising thay product on Facebook. So I think I need a social proof so my audience has an incentive before buying it. Should I go for this approach. I know my budget is pretty less. $5/day :( but that's what my client is able to pay contemporarily for ads as a trial.

    • @BenHeath

      Hi Lukas, that's fine and happens often. Facebook have calculated that's your best performer for now. As the main ad starts to fatigue you'll see more budget spent elsewhere. This set up gets you better results than forcing a split test.

    Hi Ben. I'm a regular follower of your videos, and appreciate all the help and knowledge you bestow on me that helps me run my ads. However, I found information in this video contradicting your "Can I return Facebook ads?" where you specifically mention that successful ads shouldn't be duplicated and only the one that has yielded results should be run as it already social proof and data driven. In this video, you are telling us to duplicate the ads before running them. Could you please clarify?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So in this video I'm saying you want to duplicate previous ads then EDIT them to include your new creative and then run those. If you are going to rerun old ads exactly as they were, you don't want to duplicate first.
      Basically you only duplicate if you are then going to make changes to that ad before running it.

  • @Kumar-rq9ro
    @Kumar-rq9ro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ben, thanks. You mentioned testing against existing ad. Had a query. Won't the social proof - likes, etc - in existing ad A impact the performance of the new B (or C) for that matter? Shouldn't every test - A / B ads start from scratch - without social proof (not influence audience), as new ads (not influence facebook algorithms).

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Kumar. Yes you are right, the social proof will impact performance but that's what I want to test. I want to test the best performing ads I currently have against new ads. I want to see if the new ads can beat what I'm already getting. If they can then great. If not then I move on.
      By forcing a true split test you are guaranteeing worse results in Ad A to find out if Ad B would beat it in that state. That makes sense from a testing stand point - but I'm in the results game. Hope that helps.
