I think the more realistic perspective about Hermen Hulst' statement is that the reason why they delay the PC versions is to stop PS5 players from leaving the platform and moving to PC. It kinda makes way more sense when you think about it that way.
That's exactly the reason. The people that would leave PS the soonest are probably the biggest spenders as well as they can afford a $1500 gaming PC. Sony just worded it less defensive
It's possible but they can't say that as it would suggest that they know the PC platform is better, but when you think about it, if you need to use exclusives as a selling point, they are kinda suggesting the PS5 can't stand on its own feet. Say what we want about the PC, it doesn't need exclusives shoved down our throats to convince us to buy into the platform, people buy into it either because it's a better platform or they prefer it. Either way, with how many games being released now, it's hard to care about a few exclusive games when there are too many games and not enough time, we should also remember that the PC gets by far the most exclusive games of any platforms, this is more of a choice by the development team then it being forced like Sony and Nintendo does. The irony is that I don't think it would have a negative impact on PS5 if their games were released on PC at the same time as PS5, Sony would likely make a lot more money than they are doing on PC, and in the end, PC and console gamers are different and want different things, I prefer playing keyboard and mouse and want a locked 60fps at my given resolution and visual settings, the PC offers me that, whereas with consoles, you are at the mercy of what the developers give.

Game devs, NEVER advertise/showoff your product with a per-rendered cut scene/cinematic..... SHOW OFF WHAT YOUR GAME ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE!!!!!!! Anybody remember the pre-rendered ads for ACII, they looked almost like games do in engine now......... It is literally false advertisement at a certain point...
From Software have incredible cinematic trailers that are actually very important for story & lore and are really enjoyable for fans to watch. You can do both, I would just agree that if you have a working build that is good enough to do a gameplay trailer, you should prioritize that over a cinematic trailer. But there is nothing wrong with an announcement trailer for a game years away (Elden Ring the example here) or something cinematic after they have already shown off gameplay (Elden Ring dlc being the example).
@@YuriMomoiro That's fair, I can agree with that, "must disclose a per-rendered cinematic/scene" when advertising a game. That should be easy for studios to do..
I think there is room for a mix of both. The pre rendered stuff is just marketing and sets the tone. I like it, but also actual gameplay within the same trailer is the ideal for me.

It's unlikely that Astro Bot will come over to PC as the use of the DualSense in Astro's Playroom was so in depth, you'd assume they'd use it even more so in a full fledged title Bringing it over to PC would probably require the use of a DualSense, with Sony having to make sure the game & drivers support the full functionality of the controller to put it on STEAM. Add to that, that it's a Japanese game, & it makes it seem Even less likely. Especially since the main draw of this game is from the excitement of people who played Astro's Playroom
Well, at least the drivers are there. All the dual sense features work perfectly in PC. But I doubt they will catch most of the market share without supporting normal controllers, making it worth less. But, normal controller support may already be in because of accessibility reasons right on play-station as well. Especially since it's a full fledged title and not just a demo.
@Jonathan-fw6ty Their point is that most PC players likely don't own a dualsense in the first place so experiencing this game as intended would require an additional $70 buy in.
Does the fact that you are now part of the IGN empire mean that you are going to have to massively dumb-down your content and rate no game lower than a 7 out of 10?
The PS5 controller works perfectly on PC as long as it’s plugged in. Unfortunately Sony are too stupid to release an official dongle to support wireless play with full haptics.

Cinematic trailers are fine IF we’ve seen the actual game. I’m glad people are now opposed to introductory cinematic trailers
Seeing you guys sitting together with each other really feels different and I would love it if you did this more often.
This setup is breaking my brain.
Everybody was so chilled and talked so calmly, I'm almost fell asleep. 😅 Great episode nevertheless!
The stars have aligned ❤
The camera setup for this is REALLY confusing.
DF crew in 4K , nice !
This is wonderful! You gathered like this in the same room have changed the way you communicate with eachother and it’s so much smoother and natural! I love this change!!
I normally do not watch DF Direct's because It makes me feel like I'm on a Slack call at work. But.. I really like this format with the team assembled and chatting about video games. 🖖
I like their professional style. It's refreshing compared to all the immature drivel that exists on the internet regarding game industry coverage and commentary.
What an amazing episode! Hope there will be more good reasons for you to get together and film DF Direct!
Yes John! Keep growing that beard 🧔♂️
Alex, Silent Hill 2 was announced for PC at the first instance...
It's unlikely that Astro Bot will come over to PC as the use of the DualSense in Astro's Playroom was so in depth, you'd assume they'd use it even more so in a full fledged title
Bringing it over to PC would probably require the use of a DualSense, with Sony having to make sure the game & drivers support the full functionality of the controller to put it on STEAM.
Steam has full dual sense support, so wth are you even ranting about? lol
@@Jonathan-fw6tyI thought the same after reading the comment.
@@Jonathan-fw6ty Probably was is in fanboy mode.
@Jonathan-fw6ty Their point is that most PC players likely don't own a dualsense in the first place so experiencing this game as intended would require an additional $70 buy in.
Such a good show this week. Cool to see you 3 In 1 room
They seem so thrilled about the acquisition and new room lol hope you guys can get out of that umbrella soon be well
Acquisitions usually never end well for a lot of people. We will see what happens.
Its a partnership, not an acquisition.
Great to see the three of you together in person.
Does the fact that you are now part of the IGN empire mean that you are going to have to massively dumb-down your content and rate no game lower than a 7 out of 10?
Wonderful to see you guys together! Great show as always!!
I doubt Astro Bot will be on PC, reason being i would assume that it takes full advantage of the DualSense in terms of gameplay mechanics.
The DualSense works on the PC. It would not be an issue (except likey not many PC only players own a DualSense).
The PS5 controller works perfectly on PC as long as it’s plugged in. Unfortunately Sony are too stupid to release an official dongle to support wireless play with full haptics.
@@walter_the_wobot2349lol daemon tools rewasd does it, its not a dongle issue, its proprietary stuff
astrobot is also their mascot, it makes sense for it to be playstation exclusive.
Daul Sense wouldnt be the reason, even call of duty support daul sense on PC
Great job guys! Love the new production value here and the interruptions at a minimum, sans the usual internet video delay...
Next steps for in-studio goodness = Camera awareness
There is no genuine DF Direct experience without Alex wearing his tank top ;)
Great to see y’all together! Maybe this IGN thing won’t be so bad after all. I’m still scared though frankly, based on some of the journalism on the IGN site. Fingers crossed!
