Yapapa will always slap. It's a beloved classic. That said, I do appreciate the new opening. It has the feel of the original soundtrack's style and seems a good fit for the new take on the series.

My friends used to borrow the tapes and the one time my friend fell asleep on the couch, my other friend threw this series in the VCR and my friend on the couch was singing yapapa in her sleep.
There's many openings because there's the tv show and the OAVs (basically high quality crowdfunded episodes), which basically got new openings per episode.
I would have prefered MAPPA to just update the original song/intro but I guess these days you have to make efforts to appeal to a modern audience. Netflix knows that the majority of viewers don't even know what Ranma 1/2 is.
The new theme song encapsulates the crazy hijinks the cast gets into on a weekly basis while highlighting the modern spin on it and amping up the wackiness to 11 While the original op is more tame in comparison but still catchy and iconic
I am a bit sad the old opening is not there but at the same it wouldn't be a remake if everything was the same. I do like the new opening, you can also see some similarities with the old one like some parts where characters move are the same.
I mean I watched some episodes over 15 years ago but I just don't have the memory to remember all that stuff. I just remember that he was a boy that turned into a girl.
Jajauma ni Sasenaide is still the best opening for Ranma, the lyrics lay out the relationship of Ranma and Akane perfectly. That being said, I like that the new one has hints and pays homage to the original. YAPPAPPA- YAPPAPPA!

Honestly, new OP is peak, but it’s peak because it calls back to the old OPs and feels like it fits 100% in with them. Both OPs are amazing.

The problem with the original OP is that it was just made up words to rhyme. Most of the words din't quite make sense aside from rhythm and word play.
