The thing I loved about this episode is that Ranma always has others invade his personal space, but here he brought Akane by himself into his personal space.
OMG, the latter half of the episode had me WHEEZING!!! From the kiss until the scene at the Dojo, I was laughing until I was sweating! Also, the scene with Akane and Ranma was so cute
11:46 Just shows how everyone in their family wants Akane and Ranma marriage to happen. in fact Ranma and Akane actually like each other pretty early in the anime, it just that they are both too embarrassed to admit it lmao
More a case of rebellious teenagers. They might like the idea, but they would never admit it because they're being forced into it. In the old version there was also some concern about whether or not the other had feeling for them - or even downright hated them - but one thing I like about the new version is that they are a lot more obvious about their feelings. This scene in particular is a lot more intimate and I wonder what would have happened if they didn't notice the family watching
@@richardryley3660I’m assuming they’re more moving in line with the manga as a lot of the tropes this genre created was due to running out of manga content to adapt.
The next episode will have the biggest clue (I say clue but it's pretty in your face) about how Ranma feels about Akane, which also happens to be one of the rawest lines in the series. Not to mention, from what I've seen, Ranma's ice skating fit is pure fire
Do we really need more clues at this point? After everything in this episode, the riverside scene three episodes ago after Akane let go of her crush on Tofu… hell, even the way he reacted to her smiles in the first few episodes? The boy’s got it bad.
In the old show, it's shown male Ranma having trouble learning to skate, so he goes away, and Ryoga immediately understands his plan to turn into a girl and yells at him something like "You coward, stay here and take your share of humiliation like me!" 😂 I'm now realizing how good were the old animators to understand Takahashi's humour and make small changes to further expand upon it. 😊 ... Like Nabiki having a camera while waiting Ranma and Akane to kiss. 😂
Yeah, they were good...until they weren't. Some additions were good. Many others were not. So that's why the best way to go for an adaptation should always be to be faithful to the original material. In this case Rumiko's manga.
I do think they're avoiding those little additions in season 1 since it's not going to be all that different from the original season 1 outside of pacing. Mappa can easily let the later arcs breathe more since most of post-season 1 Ranma was poorly animated filler (not including the OVAs).
The stolen kiss is an good example of why old school is better than modern trash anime like jjk. The kiss was NOT okay. Ranma was pissed. And when Ranma and Akane were thinking about kissing they even acknowledged its not something to take lightly. They were not afraid to deal with this type of crap even in comedy setting.
Both the old and new version both played up just how UPSET Ranma was. It was NOT okay and Ranma knew it. They may have had to cut the scene short for brevity, but I felt that. And this is the first time we get to see a good old fashioned Ranma 1/2 battle aura.
Both Azusa and Mikado’s voice actors previously voiced other Rumiko(Creator)characters. Aoi Yūki(Azusa) voiced Ten, Lum’s little cousin from Urusei yatsura. Mamoru Miyano(Mikado)voiced Shutaro Mendo ,also from Urusei Yatsura.
9:10 This reminds me of the guy that was upset to find that his chat would play tic-tac-toe on his forehead 😂 It also reminds me of clips of people messing with someone sleeping, and even though it’s never happened to me, it still pisses me off at just the thought of it
You'd think a guy who routinely walks along the top of chain-link fences, whose entire martial arts form requires mastery of balance, would be a little quicker in applying that to skating. But you'd be wrong.
12:01 At least he still had his clothes on. He is lucky to not be stripped naked first and then doodled. That could have easily happened considering the humiliation others have faced due to him.
I remember Azusa hit P-Chan with a mini hammer with a bow 🔨🎀 in 89 anime 😅 Ryoga went to P-Chan then to Charlotte 😂😂😂 💝 Poor Ranma having his first kiss stolen 😢😢😢.
I don't see why you couldn't do that stolen kiss scene in modern day. It wasn't okay back then, it's not okay now. Unless you mean it's not something that happens so much now so it's not relatable? I don't really know what goes on now, I'm too introverted lol.
So. Ranma defend Akane in the moment. Ranma was abandom cause P-Chan was the main concert. Ranma was stoled his firts Kiss in a girl form, but is okey to laught of that he is proud, but not blaming anyone but himself. he was mad he strikes hard. interesting to watch, is a great series i saw the previus version is a 10/10 boths
11:07 I’m fine if one or more characters have second thoughts of going through with things like this and decide not to, but this type of trope, and specifically this line in this type of situation, is what drives me crazy. Maybe if Akane was the type to pull away and laugh and make fun of him for thinking she’d let him kiss her, but better that than spouting a line like you know what’s good for the other person or what they’re thinking. I’m particularly tired of it being the guys in these shows that say this. These girls have minds of their own and can say whether or not they’re okay with something, especially Akane. She’s punched Ranma for less when it comes to what she didn’t like and what she’s been willing to let pass.
The problem is that Ranma really is unsure if Akane likes him, or she's just being compassionate. He's raised by wolves remember so he has trouble figuring out when Akane's sending him signs. And they're both still really hesitant to accept the engagement. Ranma's saying Akane doesn't like him, and Akane thinks he's saying he doesn't like her. Miscommunication.. They're really a lot more open in this version than they were in the manga though. They never got around to admitting that they're willing to try it back then. If they hadn't been interrupted I really suspect they would have kissed. And I never got that impression before.
@@SpookyGhostGoku It's just weird. It's this moment where Ranma seemingly gets humiliated for half a minute or so and then it gets revealed he was actually breaking this dude apart. I was expecting him to do a double take and at least mention something about it but the fact that it was skipped entirely is just so weird. It's like showing the set up to a joke and then skipping the punchline.
Azusa was totally spoiled and used to getting whatever took her fancy. And she had no impulse control! She renamed everything to assert her claim The first (1989) anime made it clear overly-privileged Azusa's family is very rich. In my head canon, she had hired Mikado to be her partner. Who else would put up with her except for a large pay-out? In the first version, filler detail made it clear Mikado was a notorious womanizer. Which was why the men in the hockey outfits wrote what they did on him. He was such a womanizer, he counted the number of kisses he took from girls. The pigtailed girl was his 999th. According to the (1989) version I can see a fan fiction where Mikado is trying to complete "The Spell of a Thousand Kisses" so that its magic would let him get his revenge against Azusa Anything can be made into a martial art according to this the Anything-Goes School of Martial Arts. You'll see
The remake really really ruined Azusa, she's absolutely hilarious in the original. Toning her down and playing her more as "annoying" than "completely batshit insane" was a huge mistake.
I suggest you read the original manga before making comments like these. The remake faithfully follows the manga storyline sequence, as Rumiko Takahashi intended.
@@adrimarsink I suggest you read the comment before making replies like these. I'm referring to the direction and line delivery, not the actual content of the scenes themselves, which followed the manga in both adaptations.
@@Pikachu132This isn't a remake. It's a new adaptation of the original manga. I still suggest you read the manga, as Rumiko Takahashi wrote Asuza as intended in this new anime.
@@adrimarsink I read the manga long before I even watched the original anime, thank you. Takahashi is not writing either anime, and the way Azusa is WRITTEN is identical in both. The difference is in how she's voiced and the visual direction of said writing. Both were far better in the original anime.
Akane seems to be really a bad observer... not getting any clue about Ryoga-Pchan identity reached a new level here, considering Ryoga is so stupid to not even put a bandana around his neck. I've read a comment about a fan theory of Akane having understood the truth, but japanese pride doesn't allow her to admit having been tricked and at this point she just fakes. I don't know what to think about that theory.
Akane gets blinders when she makes up her mind about something. I always felt the running joke about Akane never figuring out P-chan's identity made her look bad and it shouldn't have been dragged out so long. Then again, in one episode Nabiki reasons that there is no reason to assume Ryoga has a curse, and it would be a hell of a coincidence if he is P-chan.
Honestly double standard cause Aira attepmted assualt and only didn't get her way because she wasn't physically strong enough. She really is as unlikeable as this guy here, both delusional and scumbags (aira is an ungrateful ass towards momo)
That is the double standard speaking out of you cause Aira attempted assault isn't any cuter. She just didn't get her way because she wasn't strong enough to overwhelm okarun. Aira and this guy here are both delusional scumbags (aira is an ungrateful ass towards momo). Interesting though to see how ppl just overlook her unlikeable character and antics

Mikado and Azusa, two of the more predatory and insane early members of Ranma's "rogues gallery". The animation in the coming fight should be epic.
