Dusty’s analogy about the rising tide lifting all of the boats was perfect. I hope they know how much Nateland has introduced all of you to so many fans. We love the BAND boys ❤
My wife and I took our first child to see Nate on tour earlier this year and now we are watching his Christmas special in the hospital with our second! Let’s go folks!
Nate saying “let’s go folks” at the beginning of the holiday special made me so happy. I felt like I had an inside joke with one of the best comedians of all time. Loved it and love you guys!
I would like to apologize to breakfast. My family and I went to see him in Fort Worth this weekend. I forget that just because I see y’all every week doesn’t mean y’all know me. I made it a very awkward interaction and I didn’t mean to. I promise I wasn’t drinking. My family just feels like y’all are part of our family. I bought so many shirts that Brian actually asked “are you sure”?😂😂
1:18:20 - Shoutout to Nateland’s producers for zooming out while Aaron says “the artist is trying zoom out…” That little editing trick had me dying - thank you team!
Hey Bear. Longtime listener, first time caller. Nateland helped me through 2020 when I was moonlighting as an Amazon driver during the pandemic. I think this weeks episode gave us the quintessential Dusty moment: 21:11 "Vegas makes me wish smoking wasn't allowed indoors. It's just too much." Then THREE MINUTES LATER, 21:54 "If everyone just started smoking indoors, they'd give in. I do like clean air, but I like for there to be smoke in it." Never change, Dusty.
The subtle eti-cat comment from Brian after the suggestion of cracking an egg on his head was great. Love the pod, keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing Nate again in Ireland in April.
Remember when Nate was on the podcast and would start each show thanking everyone for subscribing and liking/sharing the videos! I love that he’s big time now but gotta throw love to Brian, Aaron and Dusty for keeping this thing going!
4th grade teacher here. The story from Brian’s childhood is All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury. Believe it or not, the story is still being used today in our reading curriculum. It’s a story on how jealousy can cause people to do things they’ll regret. Thank you for the excellent episode!
Figured someone beat me to naming the story. But it’s true! I taught it in my 8th grade classroom a few years ago. Mostly just to make the kids feel bad about being mean to their own classmates! Lol
I teach in 10th grade. Unfortunately for the group, the main character Margot does know the sun is coming (happens once for an hour every seven years) and the ending doesn’t really feel resolved.
Most fun topic discussion in a while, crying laughing at the descriptions and reactions to each fairy tale! Great chemistry between the 3 amigos ❤ Also, thank you Breakfast, for acknowledging the rising tide and golden egg of Nateland 😂 Please don't kill Nate! Love you guys, say high to the boss for us fans
Just sayin'...with a good heart...miss Nate being WITH you guys. I understand why, and I love & appreciate ALL FOUR OF YOU...just like you all being together more often. One thing to acknowledge is the Brian, Aaron, and Dusty-the-public-figure are getting better and better as a Pod Team - that's a compliment. Hey bear, Water almost came out of my nose when Dusty mockingly did “we were all impressed” with the hand movements about Aaron. Love the pod. ALWAYS a good time.
I’m so glad Dusty gave a shout out to Prince’s guitar solo on My Guitar Gently Weeps, with Tom Petty. It was phenomenal! I saw it on TH-cam a couple of years ago. Also this was a really fun episode and I appreciate you guys keeping Nateland rolling while daddy is away. Love to you all and Merry Christmas.
I’ve watched that clip countless times. Tom Petty and Prince are great but the BEST was watching George Harrison’s son play with them. Dhani looks just like George and is absolutely BEAMING getting to play with them. Brb…gonna watch again! Lol
Concert for George always a tear jerker! Prince is almost always forgotten as a great guitarist in these convos. The persona /mystique gets in the way maybe? Rock on folks
I hate that so many ppl didn’t allow themselves to get to know Prince while alive. You didn’t have to be a fan to acknowledge greatness. ETA: it was frustrating for Bates and Aaron to try to divert the Prince talk 3 times tho. I appreciate Dusty keeping the focus!!
Dusty, I love the song "Southern Accents." It 's one of Petty's best. It never was a hit, but he often played it at his concerts. I found the song soon after my mother passed away and I can't listen to it (especially the last verse about his mother praying over him) without tearing up. The great thing about music is its subjectivity. You can like something that someone else can't stand, but that's what makes music great. Glad to know we have the same taste in music, at least as it pertains to "Southern Accents." Don't let anyone change you!
Oh my gosh Aaron I love that you read the true story of the three pigs! I’ll never forget my dad coming to my school and reading that book for my class.
Now that’s what I’m talking about! Comedians sitting around cracking each other up and belly-laughing at their own jokes! Thank you for the laughs, guys!
The the rain and a student being locked in the closet is a short story by Ray Bradbury, All Summer in a Day. I thought I couldn’t love Dusty any more, until he mentioned Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - one of my favourite movies ever. Happy Holidays everyone, from Toronto, Canada!
As soon as I saw the episode title with Dusty in the thumbnail, I knew it was going to be unbelievable! I was not wrong. Y'all are killing it holding down the fort while Nate is off to who knows where doing who knows what. Thank you all for such an amazing podcast! ♡
I could listen to y’all talk about fairy tales for hours. Such a hilarious episode. Our family’s favorite modern fairy tales are the Super Happy Magic Forest books and the Fairy Tale Ninja trilogy. They are definitely worth looking into for y’all’s growing families.
Snarky puppy “lingus” is one of those songs I remember listening to the first time and saying to myself, “I don’t know what this is but it’s amazing”. I can listen to it 10x a day and find something new I like every time.
I 100% agree with Aaron about Elvis. Never thought of it that way, but he's right. People listen to Elvis in seasonal nostalgia, but not general listening.
i went to my first comedy show last night! it was a “don’t tell’. brian thank you sooo much for well telling lol. i laughed soo hard my throat was sore.
Elvis is on my playlist. I absolutely listen to him on my way to work (I’m 56 BTW). Listen to “Don’t Cry Daddy” especially the Lisa Marie duet version. It will melt you.
The first couple years of my oldest child's homeschool curriculum was fables, fairytales, and folk tales. We have all of the stories that yall talked about, and as we were listening in the car my kiddos were talking about what the stories were actually about.

Watching the Nate Christmas Special right now with my wife and kids and loving it!! The angel “George Washington” skit was hilarious. And Darius Rucker as lead singer in the house band?!? Amazing!! So good.
I’m glad I’m not the only person who’s misheard Christmas song lyrics. When I was 7 I first heard Elton John’s song Step Into Christmas. There’s a line that goes “Eat, drink and be merry! Come along with me.” I misheard it as: “Even the demons come along with me!” My Baptist parents were horrified.
The fact that Backlog actually reads these comments is the reason we got this gem of an episode after seeing how much we loved the Pinocchio bit. Nate might be the greatest average american but Backlog is a man of the people! Truly might be my favorite episode (Sorry to Your Friend Nate Bargatze)
1:06:55 Dusty’s Helix ad read was hysterical! Also great: His thoughts on Vegas and an unexpected Grandma’s Boy reference (great freakin movie!). You legit cannot go to a casino and just sit at a bar for a quick drink or bite to eat. Every seat has a gambling screen in front of it and the smoking feels aggressive after living without it for so long.
My favorite part of this episode was the energy that Dusty brought! Definitely seemed like he had his coffee today. My second favorite part of this episode was when Aaron talked about hanging chestnuts while listening to Elvis. lol
The "Hansel & Gretel" conversation is all-time funny. I love this podcast so much. Also -- kudos to the camera/editing team for the quick zoom-out on cue. Folks who don't watch this on TH-cam miss out!
I’ve known people that really like Elvis but they were teenagers when he became a star. I asked my wife’s grandma, who was unfamiliar with TH-cam, if there was anything from her past that she wanted to see again and she quickly answered with Elvis’s first or second performance on The Ed Sullivan show. It was awesome to watch her relive that experience some 65 years later. It’s quite something to imagine these young people seeing something like that on tv while their parents no doubt were freaking out and diving toward the tv to turn it off because of the sexual undertones of his performance and interview. You can imagine if those generations are still driving they’re for sure throwing on some Hound Dog! (Banana Bread?)
It's a total compliment Breakfast! We are the same age, which is why I thought your say Lita Ford😂, Thank you so much for reading my comment made my day!!!! Amanda ! J is my middle initial
This is the most interestingly bizarre episode of the Nateland podcast. Laughing, giggling, and sighing occasionally, too. You three are a hoot...but maybe back off on the Mountain Dew before next episode....😂😂😂. This episode, in particular, felt like we (audience) we hangin' out with you guys and my living room - liked that!
I learned something new from A-A-Ron on this episode… I didn’t realize Christmas traditions included more activities with chestnuts than just roasting them… maybe it’s just a Tennessee thing, but I would love to understand more about hanging them (where to hang them from, what do you hang them with how long, etc.).
Brian saying he loved, Kiss Me Deadly by Lita Ford back in the day😅 Here's the first verse: "I went to a party last Saturday night I didn't get laid, I got in a fight uh-huh It ain't no big thing" 😅😂
Hey guys. I was happy to hear you read my comment. You were a little hard on me but I still love you all lol. I have listened to the podcast before since the beginning so I knew you would react that way. And, seriously check out Shinedown and Skillet, Dusty.
I live in Florence, volunteer at the Shoals Theater all the time, and am a HUGE Nateland & Aaron fan. My weekly listen to this podcast is the first I’m hearing about Aaron’s show. My jaw dropped when I heard you say you had a show booked there. I have no idea who booked it or was supposed to promote, but I am, to put it lightly, appalled and embarrassed. That is ridiculous. As a big fan and a marketer (I’m the director of marketing for UNA here in town), I would love to make that right by getting a proper show put together and I’ll, you know, actually tell people about it and get you a good turn out. Bring Baskets with you and let’s pack the place out next time. Apologies on behalf of the fine, comedy loving people of my town.
When Brian mentioned that Children's story about the kid that was locked up in a closet while the the sun came out, I also remembered hearing that story as a kid and was traumatized by it. I had to look it up and it is called "All summer in a Day." It is a short story and the location is on the planet Venus (which makes no sense) but the sun only comes out every seven years. Thanks for bring that trauma from my childhood back into my life jk. Love the podcast! I listen every week!
Dusty and Aaron, your conversation reminded me a of a story. Back in 2013, during a taping of the Jimmy Fallon show, Prince borrowed the Roots’ guitar player, “Captain” Kirk Douglas’ beloved 1961 Epiphone Crestwood guitar. At the end, he tossed it over his shoulder and broke it in two. Kirk was bummed and asked “Could you at least sign it?” Prince responded “I haven’t signed anything since the 70’s.”
I was so taken aback by Aaron‘s impression of Humpty Dumpty. I had to look at the screen to see which one of you did that. You should start doing impressions.😂
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer first appeared in a 1939 booklet written and published by the Montgomery Ward department store. They used to have a tradition of buying and giving away colorful books at Christmas. By creating their own book, they could save money. The author, Robert May was inspired by his daughter’s love of reindeer, and the Chicago fog with the red antenna lights flashing on top of the buildings. The song was adapted from the story by May's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks. Gene Autry recorded the song which hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts the week of Christmas in 1949.
1:27:19 This podcast is a lot like watching an old Disney movie or your favorite kids show from back in the day. Every once in a while there's a little bit of adult comedy thrown in for the grown slightly immature folks like me. I'm a big fan of all y'all, keep it up!
Been listening to this podcast since day 1 and my favorite recurring theme are all of your references that are close but just slightly off and in the funniest way. But, Dusty coming up with the Grateful Dead song "Uncle 'Tom's' Band" has to be the best so far.
This message is for Nate and only Nate! (Breakfast, please get it to him) Hey bud, we love ya, seeing you blowing up and doing all these amazing things like the holiday special, a BOOK, a new world tour, SNL after SNL, wow. What a ride, especially since I've been a fan since Yelled at by a Clown! It's so amazing and well deserved. So, with all that love, please know the following comes from love, too. Get a haircut. What is going on man?!? These past few podcast I've been seeing it and thinking "ah, alright, trying something new! Barber/trainer must be busy but that's alright, he'll definitely get it tightened up pre-Holiday special." Boy was I wrong. Anyway, much love, please go back to the tightened up hair immediately. Love, all fans.

It’s so cool to me how every now and again this podcast gets Nate Bargatze as a guest!
Original
Dusty: "Come on, we rarely cover everything of a subject" 😂 I think that pretty much sums up the podcast.
Great episode!! Y’all were on fire today!
One children’s book I thought was so depressing and sad was The Giving Tree. Anyone else agree on that one?
33:36 Breakfast's "Dream On" comment had me dying! He always has little jokes that get overlooked! He is too funny!

I loved Aaron's comment, "Nate's everywhere....except here".

I love aaron and dusty going at it. One of the best episodes 😂😂
Just watched his holiday special and it was soooo good. Do more of these. I recorded it so I’ll probably watch again for sure.
Not only is Aaron the best ad reader, but he is also the best impressionist. His Humpty Dumpty, and Christopher Walken voices were spot on!

This episode was so much fun, thanks for a great start to my morning!
1:27:19 This podcast is a lot like watching an old Disney movie or your favorite kids show from back in the day. Every once in a while there's a little bit of adult comedy thrown in for the grown slightly immature folks like me. I'm a big fan of all y'all, keep it up!
According to Ricky Gervais, the moral of Humpty Dumpty is that you shouldn’t send horses to perform complex medical procedures
😂
Can’t wait to see the AI created image of Brian following Dusty’s prescribed makeover.
Thanks for recommending the Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Prince cover of My Guitar Gently Weeps. That was really cool!
I want to hang chestnuts with Aaron Weber for Christmas!
I think they should have him play some xmas songs on the piano!
First time the opening has made me belly laugh. Well done BAD!
Been listening to this podcast since day 1 and my favorite recurring theme are all of your references that are close but just slightly off and in the funniest way. But, Dusty coming up with the Grateful Dead song "Uncle 'Tom's' Band" has to be the best so far.
The Helix ad read in this episode was so hot! I thought I was getting early access to some of Dusty's new material.
Brian, you never fail me on making the Seinfeld connections! ❤👏👏
Just watched the Nate Christmas special and I can’t believe one of yall weren’t in the other comic’s spot.
