    You made that interior handle trim seem so easy. I had such a fight with it. Anyways, thanks! Love all your XC90 vids they've helped me a ton

      I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! Those types of handles and trim can be tough! (Also I can't remember for sure but I may have edited out some attempts lol)

    great video, thanks for the detail. do you mind include the link for where we can get the reverse camera? thanks.

    • @frenchineer

      I think it was one of these: a.co/d/3vxQRaH though any should work. I usually try to choose the camera based on where and how I will be mounting it.

    It amazes me how often parts are held in place just by a snap-and-lock kind of system and how prying them apart is how you disconnect them. It seems cheap, but it certainly works.

    • @frenchineer

      Yes, it's almost like giant LEGO! Every car I've worked on (so far) uses clips in one way or another.

  • @WhiteGS

    What blue wire are you speaking of at 47:11. I get zero response when i put the car in reverse from the screen. Not even a "No signal". Thanks.

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The blue wire is what powers the reverse light bulb, which is what powers the camera. My unit reads the reverse gear from the CAN bus system and changes to the backup camera screen using that. It's possible there is a setting you need to change, though mine worked as I received it.

    Thank you for your videos. I installed the Android Head Unit then the rear camera, everything works very well, but I lost the sound (beep, beep, etc.) from the park assist
    Do you have any idea how to restore it?

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This install bypasses the amplifier, so that's why the parking beeps don't go to the speakers anymore (I did not have parking sensors on my car). Another viewer actually made a video of his solution to that problem! Here is his video: th-cam.com/video/k8ltjayv4po/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CrSrneAlHqZgigyU

    Hi Nick When I installed the screen, the rear sensors stopped. How can I fix it? Can you help me? Did you encounter the same problem?

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Fadel, Unfortunately I don't know what could have happened since my car does not have parking sensors...
      If you can contact your radio's manufacturer they may have more information. Let me know if you find a solution!

    • @ozbusa
      @ozbusa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rear sensors will be working, it’s just the audio output from them is routed thru the oem audio channels. As we have disconnected the oem audio, there is no sound anymore. Some of the more expensive units out there will allow them to still work as they pass audio through to the oem system. But as this one takes over the speaker out wiring, there’s no sound from the oem anymore..

      @@fadelmajed563 the only way I know how is to either change the head unit over to a higher quality one that feeds audio into the factory audio, or route the output into the aux in, if yours has one. And return wiring to amp as stock

    Your video has been very helpful for the installation of my new rexing m3 camera, to my 2009 Volvo xc90, however I have ran into a problem. The wires that were given too me were ones for the rear view camera and it also came with a thin red wire that would be hooked up to the reversing tail light which are connected together, however it is only about 3-4 long. And after following the same route you took for the wires , I realized the red wire is no way long enough. Could I buy a wire to connect the red wire too then route it to one of the reverse lights? Is that possible ?

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can extend the power wire to go to the reverse light, that's what I did. Just make sure the connection to the extension is secure so it doesn't come apart unexpectedly.

    What are those two seat cushions underneath the trunk panel you opened?

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are the seat bottoms for the 3rd row seats! They were optional so things may look at bit different in a car that doesn't have them.

    What wire did you connect for the 12v reverse line behind the HU?

    • @frenchineer
      @frenchineer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there are any connections to make behind the head unit for the backup camera besides the video RCA. To get power to the backup camera I tapped into the reverse light wiring at the rear.
