      Loved it. If Rampart succeeds he gets what he wants. But if what really happened is uncovered, then with better timing than the best comedian haha Palps ascends at a crucial moment, says what he needs to and influences the vote.
      However I’m still not on board with the reasoning tbh. I don’t think it needed to be done, just the idea of accelerated aging (which is really the main point they’re actually pushing still about why they still need to do this anyway), stretching dna thin and the threat of insurgency would’ve been good enough. You didn’t need to obliterate all the resources you had somewhere which you now have to replace with housing, training facilities ect not to mention suggested loss of life that was still useful which all diverts funds from other projects that he wants now or in the future such as the Death Star and Tie Defenders.
      It’s also just not a good idea for something on such a big that so many clones know about that could really disgruntle your entire army pretty much. If the clones decided to turn now, you’d be screwed as that’s your army which would just steamroll you with nothing in it’s path. I also don’t like how it’s coming off as just decommissioning pretty much all the clones at once seemingly which also makes no sense. They’re still extremely valuable in combat and better than stormtroopers. The transition period is just a bit too fast for my liking.
      With that all said though, Rampart’s arrest was amazingly ironic with him following orders.
      However I also don’t really get why the Bad Batch were fighting to keep the clones in the empire though. With no clones in the way they’d probably stop pulling punches and there’d be many more like them which would take the heat off too.
      I’m just praying that there’s more hidden bases on Kamino both in service to the empire and also ones they don’t know about that Kaminioans live on. I really don’t like the departure from legends and was hoping we’d see a clone rebellion on Kamino like in the OG Battlefront 2 as that had so much potential for rich storytelling and thematics. We also know Palpatine’s interest in clones and we could’ve had a TFU2 like scenario there but yeah even that aspect of him now doesn’t make sense as to why he blew everything up. I was hoping it’d just be tropica city but they said in this episode it was pretty much all the cities across the planet

      It's not about "keeping the Clones in the Empire".
      As was shown by the loyalist clones that Chuchi spoke to at the 79 club, most of them don't WANT to leave the army.
      It's literally all they know and most of their training has not prepared then foe any other life.
      And, even though it isn't shown, most of the clones are in fact most likely putting down pirates and actual criminal elements in the Outer Rim - at this point probably more than legitimate political opposition (although that's definitely present and growing).
      You saw with Howzer and the clones who supported him that standing up against the Empire's immoral orders just gets them arrested.
      So the clones who served the Republic with courage and dedication are pretty screwed, regardless.
      "We aren't bad men, but what we did (to Kamino) was wrong."
      The idea is to get the clones the best deal they can as their accelerated aging forces them out of active service.

    • @protector_of_the_realms
      @protector_of_the_realms ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which also kinda bugs me in 2 ways actually thinking about it haha.
      1) why the hell are they tryna prevent the Empire from doing this? If they were fighting forces other than clones it’d probably be easier for them without the inner conflict and having to hold back their punches. It’d also take the heat off them with a lot more clones running around like them
      2) It makes the clones and everyone else look hella incompetent missing everything haha. Like just set you blasters to stun in general. It’s a much wider radius and easier to hit stuff and a lot more effective. The blaster bolts don’t even kill when you have armour on usually, just incapacitates you and if you want to kill well it’s a lot easier if they’ve been stunned first

    • @kenle2
      @kenle2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The literal senate appearing before the Senate is bone chilling to the core, and the way he twisted the events in his favor meant business. as Palpatine's two steps ahead out of everyone in the galaxy, especially the batch. Checkmate has begun before it even ended.

Seeing her take such a strong stance in this arc was not only heartwarming, but REALLY amazing for since I came to like her episode so much. I know the conflict was a bit contrived, but as a kid I liked her speech and I also found her ability to step to be pretty nice.

    Palps has a plan for every situation unfortunately,it was great to hear Ian McDiarmid as the voice of the Emperor but it's hard to see our heroes lose,even if you know it's gonna happen :( Last scene with Echo was so emotional,but it would be cooler if the whole Bad Batch went with Rex to help the clones :)

    I absolutely loved these two episodes! They are easily my favorite ones so far! I felt like everything about them were just so perfect. Whether it’s be the the story, the writing, the action or how gripping and tense they were, there episodes just had everything. Not to mention the great interactions between the characters, and how much some of them were fleshed out and developed. The soundtrack for these episodes were also fantastic, every score felt so amazing and unique in its way. It feels like they’ve really been stepping up their game when it comes to the soundtrack. And of course, as always, the animation is super beautiful, and stunning, especially in all the scenes where it shows the different setting and environments of Corucscant. The detail put into every scene were just so amazing and just so visually pleasing in every way. I loved Flip and Cade, it was great to see more Clones who voiced their opinions on the Empire and it was so sad to see both of them die for trying to speak the truth. It was also really great to see retuning characters from Clone Wars like Mas Amedda, Halle Burtoni and Riyo Chuchi and to see all of their updated character designs. And speaking of Senator Chuchi it was super great to see her again, but all grown up now, and I loved how much she wanted to defend the Clones. I felt like it was such a great bit of character development that we got to see how she felt that the Clones deserve better seeing as everything they have done to protect the galaxy. It was also cool to be able to see her doing some investigative work like Padme and Bail did in some of the Clone Wars episodes. We also saw Bail Organa again which was really great, and I can’t really explain why, but no matter the circumstance I am always just so happy to see him on the screen no matter how small of a role he plays. And it was just so satisfying to finally see Rampart be taken to justice for all the bad things he has done towards the Clones and I’m curious to see what will happen to him next. And I’ve got to talk about that Palpatine scene, I mean every second he was on screen was incredible. His dialogue and overall presence felt so incredible not to mention the writing for how he was able to pin everything on Rampart in order to segue into the decommissioning of the Clones was just so amazing. I’m so glad that I got to experience this amazing scene of Emperor Palpatine. Also I loved Echo in this episode, it started out with us getting more character development for him which I loved and we saw that as the episode went on we saw more and more how he was agreeing with Rex’s mission. And it was so sad to see him and Omega say goodbye to each other. I really hope that we get to see him and Rex return eventually in this season and see them still continuing on their mission to help Clones and others to fight against the Empire. And maybe the next time we see Echo he’ll have an actual mechanical arm rather than a screwdriver. I really don’t love these two episodes so much. They were so perfect in every aspect and served as both a great political thriller and as an incredible way to advance the overall story of the Bad Batch series. I am super curious to see where the rest of the story will lead the Batch and what will happen in next week’s episode.

    My big theory is that the Assassin is a Spaarti clone.
    From Legends we know Palpatine contracted Spaarti Creations to make lower tier Jango clones to fill ranks at the end of the war. And where were those Spaarti cloning cylinders? Mount Tantiss. Of course, this assassin doesn't seem to be less capable but that could just be a new spin on the legends idea.

  • @protector_of_the_realms
    @protector_of_the_realms ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I loved how Palpatine twisted it to his advantage, really shows off his masterful manipulation skills.
And really everyone should just use stun in universe. So much more effective with the radius and seeing how blaster bolts don’t usually kill armour wearers anyway lol.

    50:11 This is exactly, what I was thinking, but I was terrified for Riyo Chuchi. She's one of the only good ones left in the Senate. Padme, Satine, and so many others are dead. We know Bail Organa lives until ANH, and Mon Mothma until post-RotJ, but Chuchi is an exclusive TCW character. This means she's likely dead within the next few years. She wasn't in Andor or Rebels or Rogue One. I wonder if she'll ever see Ahsoka again? They were good friends.
    I knew Rampart's days were numbered when he killed Wilco. He was obviously losing favor with Tarkin and the other superiors, so it doesn't surprise me that they set him up to take the fall. They probably knew they couldn't keep the truth of the destruction of Kamino quiet.
    And now that the Bad Batch did a mission on Coruscant, there's a good chance that security cameras caught them from many different angles. So the fact that they're alive is known now.
    Palpatine emerging into the Senate chamber reminds me of "The Lawless." For the most part, he's able to take a step back and let his cronies deal with problems, but occasionally he has to get his own hands dirty. He let Maul do his thing until he became a rival. He let the Senate do its thing until it threatened his power. And then, at the end of the scene, did anyone else notice the music? It's a riff taken from Revenge of the Sith, from the scene in which the Galactic Empire is declared and Padme says "So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause." I've been waiting 18 years to hear that theme pop up again, and this was the perfect moment for it, to remind us that Palpatine has set things up in a way that it doesn't matter how well you play the game and use the system - he's got the game rigged.
    42:07 Seeing Omega walking around the Senate asking questions reminded me of why Ahsoka was introduced to the SW universe. George Lucas said that there needed to be a student character for the story, and Omega is that character in this show. In Rebels, it was Ezra. It's the character that doesn't really know what's going on, so they ask obvious questions to provide exposition for the story. In The Mandalorian, I would say that Din is that character, since there are so many jokes on the internet about how he's the only main character in a Star Wars show that doesn't know he's in Star Wars.

      23:16 I know people don't tend to go back to look at the comments on old videos, but whatever. I was rewatching the episode and I focused on how Rampart had Omega, arguably the most important member of the Bad Batch standing right there in front of him, and he had no idea. He really was an idiot. I noticed that the first time watching (and so did Eric), but it occurs to me now that the smarter Imperial officers we know - Tarkin, Thrawn, Dedra, Syril, Yularen, Kallus, etc. - would have recognized her as a person of interest instantly if they had his assignment. Even if the Bad Batch hadn't brought about Rampart's downfall, he was obviously overlooking things left and right, and it would have caught up to him eventually. I suppose he should consider it an honor that he was taken down by the Emperor himself, not Vader or Tarkin or anyone lower.

    The impact, when life-altering events (like Echo leaving the Batch at the end of season 2 episode 8, for example,) wouldn't have nearly as much weight, emotionally, (people seemingly don't understand, when whining and complaining about; "filler," episodes,) because those episodes are there to further flesh out this group dynamic, which makes us, out here in the audience, by virtue of expending our valuable time and energy getting to know and, as a result, fall in love with these characters, moments like that, and especially events like what happens to Tech, sacrifices they make in those pivotal moments, wouldn't hit nearly as hard.
    Had we not spent so much; "filler," time with Tech, Riot Racing, or getting injured treasure hunting, or whatever.
    Had we not spent so much time with Echo, being sold as a; "Droid," lol it's or any of that less overarching stuff, shenanigans they'd been getting themselves up to, in-between, that makes, arguably even sometimes inevitably, losing them hit us as hard as it does!
    Even watching those events hit the other characters we've spent so much time investing in, over the course of these two seasons, so far, having invested so much ourselves makes us care all that much more, that's what we'd be losing if the show went the route so many impatient viewers claim they'd prefer!
    I'm convinced of it, if it weren't for all of that so-called; "filler," this series wouldn't have anywhere close to the impact it's had!
    But, taking that time to get to know the characters, that patience required, is something valued increasingly less, in recent years.
    (But, that's just me talkin' lol what do I know, right?!? ✌️)

    I've been of the opinion for awhile that clone related stories are some of the most interesting in Star Wars. The concepts and issues that can be delved into with them are so relevant to today and our own possible near future. Discussions involving identity and individuality are important. One of my all time favorite Star Wars book series was Republic Commandos which morphed into the regretably unfinished Imperial Commandos for many of these same reasons. These particular Bad Batch episodes also incorporate the allusion to veterans affairs which is another important conversation. I wish they'd do a live action movie based on these themes like they've done in books and animation. Jedi/Sith are interesting but I'd really like to see live action clone stories.

    It will be interesting to see if the Recruitment Bill was passed by Emperor's Fiat with or without the provisions for Clone Support intact, or if there were further changes introduced due to the "flaw" of Clone "over-obedience" being highlighted. In Kenobi that clone beggar was on the street in his armor, so "Decomissioning" is very vague.
    The Sniper could be a Gen1 Spaarti Clone. Remember in Legends the Emperor continued liberal use of Cloning for any individual who showed special ability or skill. Having your genetics "preserved" for contribution to the Empire as augmentees to the Stormtrooper Corps and even into the Imperial Guardsmen was considered a high honor.
