Went for £27k, it seems an odd choice to sell it locally among so many other general lots - it would surely have made so much more in a specialist London sale.
I find it weird that people rather want to pay more for a modern Rolex which is made in literally the thousands instead of something like this, but that’s “the market”, it’s not logical at all.
But those who buy a Rolex want to be seen out and about with a symbol of their wealth on their wrist, to go with the Porsche or the Ferrari, how would such a person show this off? The sort of person who buys a Rolex has no comprehension of a timepiece like this, it's alien to them.
@@donaldasayers That is of course very true. But there are literally millions of these hype watches for sale, and hardly any of these rare old ones hundreds of years old. Of course the market for wristwatches will be much much larger, but still there are people interested in these old ones but in most cases they sell for down to a maybe £100-200 even if they are very rare and it would often be hard to find another one.
Obliviously touching the leather casing without cloves, transferring skin oils and acids. It is clearly a time piece, not a "clock". Clocks do not like to be moved, and need to be calibrated in situ.
It baffles me how this is valued at less than a Rolex watch, I honestly expected a value of at least 100k.
$600.,000 minimum
What a steal
Abosutley Beautiful
When the U.K. had brilliant craftsmen.

Beautiful beautiful object. Hope it went to a good home, and will be treasured.
It should have an export ban put on it, too much history ends up being sold out of the UK.
What a gorgeous time piece amazing history ❤

@@donaldasayers You must be very clever to be able to tell all that about a person just by the wristwatch they wear.
Decades and decades? Hundreds and hundreds! Cool video, why not say who made it
The woman had no idea what was going on LOL LOL he said 1670 and she heard 1970 a few decades ago LOL LOL

Where does the battery go?
I gave my son an automatic Vostok Amphibia for Christmas a few years ago. After showing him how to set it he asked me how do you charge it?
15 to 25? Seems low, however good luck.
Likely over 30-40 k
Should be handled with gloves. 😮
It sold for £27,000.
