    I'm from the Carolinas, and my mom always adds some sugar to her greens like you do, and then proceed to cook those suckers until they are nice and tender. Like you said, nobody better give me crunchy greens, or they will catch these hands😂

    My Mother was from Oklahoma. She used to make this dish absolutely loaded with diced turnips and a ham hock. Turnips are an overlooked , almost looked down upon food, it's true. Well, to all those people who think that, I'm sorry your so close minded...………...might be just me I reckon, but I even like just good ole smashed turnips and butter, and turnip au gratin is food of the gods.

    Thanks for your recipe! I usually do collards and cabbage, or add turnip and mustard for mixed greens. But never turnip greens by themselves -- my mom loves and wanted them for Mother's day, so......... Your recipe is similar to what I do for my collards and cabbage, except I don't add red pepper flakes (some of my family members don't like or do spicy). Other changes are two different greens seasoning packets; red, yellow and orange bell peppers (didn't use orange this time); smoked turkey legs instead of wings; chicken broth instead of water; and mild banana peppers instead of acv. And I would have never thought to add brown sugar to them. Hunnie, when I say these greens were gooooooooood! I just may begin to do turnips by themselves more often. 😉😎 Going to try your mac and cheese recipe next as we have a lot of similarities there too.

      I do love hot water cornbread, since I learned that corn has a product of sugar I try not to use any or as less as possible what I do, do is I cut onions over the top of my green as my favorite is hot water cornbread collards or any green bake chicken,fried chicken. Candy yams made with no sugar very little butter, maybe a potato salad I try too stay away from any food that make sugar, sugar eats you RD anatomy (Bones)

    We used to debate in middle school (Junior high) in a small country town in Mississippi as to whether greens were finger food or should be eaten with a fork. I personally used a fork because I didn't want the cornbread I mixed in under my fingernails but many of my classmates ate them with their fingers. Either way, they were 🔥!!!!

I have had greens with no meat and it was perfectly seasoned...just did not know what seasonings were. Hopefully you can create something to share.

I have the best collard greens and pork belly recipes but needed this recipe from my soul for sisters and brothers. Glad I didn’t skip your recipe due to the Kamala Harris propaganda prior to the start of your video your recipe and knowledge was worth the minutes worth demon party party propaganda pertaining to their installed tyrannical presidential installed candidate/nominee Would rather share recipes and cooking methods without being forced into watching political propaganda as i am sure you feel the same how politics have anything to do with cooking is beyond my comprehension

    • @albertadiasarsenaisenberg6703
      @albertadiasarsenaisenberg6703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it keeps the water from boiling out too fast also you should not close the top right you DONT WANT the water to boil over the container. When I cook my meat if I'm adding another VEGATABLE I want my meat flavor so I let it cook down too a thickness the ( wate) then I add my other ingredants the meat is wonderful once it cooked all the way down donot cook its broth out like once you see the thickness turn the fire off if the meat is well down or continue your plan.
