Awesome. Have been waiting to see more clips from Dave Mason (formerly of Traffic). This night he hosted the Midnight Special in 1975. He played 8 songs that night (including Feelin' Alright), with 3 clips now shown on Midnight Special channel. Keep 'em coming, thanks.
@@delmedeiros3570He left Traffic after Mr Fantasy in ‘67 but returned in time for the Traffic album in ‘68. He then left again to Produce Family’s first album ‘Music In A Dolls House’. He had 2 left over songs on Traffic’s ‘Last Exit’ from ‘69 and appeared on the Live ‘Welcome To The Canteen’ album from 1970. He then went solo.

Wow I knew he looked familiar and reading his name brought it all back. I remember that he played with many people and I did actually meet and talk with him for a while backstage at a CS&N concert in 1983 when he toured with them.
A fantastic performance. I get different musical vibes here, including a little bit of Caribbean influence, as well as a touch of Jimi Hendrix. Dave Mason is a fantastic musician. Cheers!
Me too especially after seeing him 2 months ago on his Traffic Jam tour ! He is touring all over the USA this summer, 2024, Highly recommend catching it !!!!
My stupit ass threw away a gift set of MIDNIGHT SPECIAL. A Time Life thing if you're old enough to know what those were. I think they were CDs. Every. Flippin' M.S. show. Thanks for reminding me to kick my own ass again. 😊
Still have my 1st album of Dave’s, bought when it came out by my date when we went to the record store, believe it was called “Peaches Records and Tapes?” Thanks Chris 😉. ‘78 “Mariposa De Oro” is wonderful. What a fantastic singer/guitarist Dave is, whew so lovely am thoroughly enjoying this! He’s got the most gorgeous voice, dark brown eyes & long-dark eyelashes. Thank you Midnight Special! ☺️
Dave Mason is one of the most awesome singers his music resonates throughout me whenever I play it it reminds me of my youth and a lot of fun memories of my neighbors all my love Toby hassberger My heart is still with you
Great song! It had a little acoustic feel, that 70s funky guitar sound and organ, and then it got downright psychadelic!🔥 Dave is great live, too! When I saw him it was all acoustic, just himself and another guy. Thanks, Midnight Special! 😁💜
@@StephanieJeanne I looked and apparently he only played with Dave until the early 80's, so I believe it was another guitarist that you saw...sorry for my mistake. Jim Krueger passed away in 1993.
Mike Finnigan, besides being a great keyboardist, was a fantastic singer. Listen to him on Dave Mason's live album (Certified Live) singing the blues "Goin down slow"... where he also evokes Ray Charles in the song's introduction. Your interpretation of this classic is chilling.
I enjoyed a lot of Dave Mason's music over the years. He's still performing now. As with other famous performers who went bald ( such as Jonathan Banks and John Travolta ), Dave eventually shaved his head.
Dave is kicking off his Traffic Jam tour at the end of February and plans to tour all year across the USA. His current band rocks and includes Mark Stein Of Vanilla Fudge dame.
I don’t know if I’ve ever heard this guy before. I’m drawing a blank on the name. But he has a terrific voice. I wonder if he has any effects on his mic though? If not he has this natural reverb when he sings that’s amazing. It sounds like he’s singing in, oh, a cave maybe. But it’s really good. Now I might have to look at some of his other music. (I just looked and he sings, “We Just Disagree.” I’ve heard that song probably hundreds of times but I didn’t know who sings it.)
Check out his live version of All Along The Watchtower here on You Tube. It is outstanding. Dave and his band "clean house" with this version (his Live LP recorded at the Universial Amp. Theather in 1970's)
This song is from one of the greatest albums ever- "Alone Together"- every song fantastic!!

That's a lot of songs for one episode. There were only 3 other artists that played in that episode.
I didn't know he was in Traffic.
@@mondavou9408He went back and forth, but I believe around 1973 he finally decided on his solo career. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Just love Dave's beautiful voice . This tune wasnt one of his bigger hits as he had many .
It's a great song, though!
It was on his debut album.
I had never heard it before but I'm mesmerized by his phenomenal vocals.
I honestly hadn’t heard it before either, absolutely entranced with the song-delivery here. Dave’s voice is fantastic as is, his guitar skills.
@StephanieJeanne Absolutely agree with you . Similar to the Beatles , none of Dave's songs are hard to listen to .
he's so underrated...what a talent
Dave was never underrated..This was the best lineup of players in his career..

Satin and sweat like only the 70’s delivered
😅 Great comment! Was wanting to towel dry Dave’s face here.
Awesome! Mike Finnigan on the organ is one of the best!
Oh yeah

@@bradsense7431among others, he participated in Jimi Hendrix's album Electric Ladyland.
I think he played with the great Danny O'Keef also
Thanks for naming him, I agree he’s a great 🎹 player too!
Love listening to live non auto tuned, non pitch corrected music. I got to grow up with these bands. Most of today’s music is “S”.
A fantastic performance. I get different musical vibes here, including a little bit of Caribbean influence, as well as a touch of Jimi Hendrix. Dave Mason is a fantastic musician. Cheers!
I was his bellman in Jacksonville Florida that year, I was so surprised he talked to me as long as did
Interesting song.
Right on! Been on a Dave Mason dive lately.

@@charlielaunder4520 Hope so for you as well ! 🤞
Jim on lead guitar and Mike on the organ combo hard to beat.
Not a knock on Dave at all, but Mike Finnigan was the best singer on that stage (RIP)
@@leiferickson5069 Agreed.
This one is on repeat. We need a Midnight Special compilation album. Is there one? Dave Mason’s voice is amazing.

Always really liked this track on the Certified Live album
One of my favorite live albums. Everyone should know this pearl.

I never saw Dave Mason live. I'd like to. Cheers! ✌️
The other guy is the guitarist in this video...Jim Krueger (RIP)
@@delmedeiros3570 Was he still with him in '89? That's when I saw Dave.
@@StephanieJeanne It's possible, they played together for a long time. There are videos with them together after the 70s. I'll look into it.

Living legend.
The World is still changing. Thanks Dave.
Those guys in the band seem to be really up their instruments. As for James Mason himself: a very underrated artist.
Check out "It's like you never left" album.

Try looking up Traffic. First 2 albums with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood and you will know who Dave is.
@@BigSky1I love the band “Traffic” so much! Saw Stevie Winwood solo several years ago, he’s so good exceptional- with a fantastic voice.
