I loved it when I read while in training camp which was held at the time in Rocklin CA. at the Jr. College. anyhow at full speed plummer gave rookie fullback NO Holes Barred Floyd a welcome to the NFL, and a fight broke out between the two.
I don't remember the game but Gary Plummer made one of the greatest hits in 49er history that I've ever seen. It was a goal-line stand and the RB tried to go over the top. Plummer nailed the guy mid-air with his own full-power leap. Not only did Plummer prevent the TD but he knocked the RB backwards over the pile and also knocked the ball out. Some other 49er snatched it up and ran it all the way back for a 49er TD. Tell me that wasn't one of the best 49er defensive plays in history. Took 6 off the opponents board and put 6 on our board in one play. Plummer was a beast.
The Offensive players seem 2 get all the credit, but we a low key been blessed with some Defensive greats over the years. Lott, Willis, Smith, Goldstone, Bowman, And even today with Warner, and of course Bosa.
That last one,Whitner...no longer. The flag for flipping dude over, Lazar GB by #20 SF, during the tackle..why? The goaline stop of Seahawks #48, Niners in white and Justins reach around sack, my two favorites. I'd forgotten what a menace Goldson was. Poor Robert Woods and his Crayola yellow uni, Takeo Spikes was a kung fu fighting!.

Lott and Goldson would be doing 5-10yrs jail time if they played in the current era. Those hits they gave were pure punishment.
