I just started playing Magic, I bought the deck builder toolkit and the Fire Surge M14 intro pack. I'm really enjoying it so far and this video made me want to buy more boosters right now. This stuff is addictive! Great vid keep 'em coming :D
It's very simple. You enchant a Mountain with it. The Mountain, while enchanted with Awaken the Ancient, is a 7/7 Land/Creature that can also tap for mana, and is treated both as a Creature and a Land for purposes of conditional targeting (eg: Spells that require a Creature or a Land as their target.)
Great Box! As far as the focusing goes. Think of auto focus as a series of layers. The auto focus will focus on the largest first, everything in that layer will also be in focus. In this case your box & playmat will be in focus. If you want to have the cards in focus you will basically need a camera with a macro option so that you can focus only on the cards. Otherwise you will need to have the camera zoomed out to keep the cards in focus as your hands are constantly in motion. Hope this helps.
Elite Arcanist is useful because you pay the converted cost instead of the original cost. So you can have a mono-blue deck with say, some Dimir B/U instants or mono-black instants and pay the converted cost instead. Useful for milling, or throwing in some burn if you're going Izzet.
Firstly I'd like to say I love all your videos! It's actually helped me find single cards to buy rather than a bunch of random fat packs :D As a side note about Path of Bravery, it would work wonders in a Selesnya deck. I've actually run out of tokens to use on several occasions, just imagine that life gain....
I love this box. I got Garruk, Caller of Beasts, Jace, Memory Adept, Primeval Bounty, Darksteel Forge and Shadowborn Demon and for foils Into the Wilds, Blightcaster, Encroaching Wastes, Duress, Undead minotaur, Dismiss into Dream, and Blur Sliver.
It means it's not focused on one plane like for instance innistraad, and also it's only got one set as opposed to two or three bunched into a block. Although, in the case of m14, we can assume the whole thing is on Shandalar because that's where Thune is.
DUDE sick pulls, very nice. Me and a couple of buddies of mine actually threw together some cash and bought a box yesterday. We ended up pulling a foil Kalonian, Thune, and 2 Planeswalkers, like 3 other random mythics, AND a foil oozie. It was bananas.
Megantic Sliver gives itself +3/+3 since it's a Sliver as well. So technically, it's a 6/6 for 6 mana. The Elite Arcanist can exile any spell and use it the rest of the game as long as you tap Elite Arcanist and play the converted mana cost of the spell. For example, if you exile Doom Blade, by tapping Elite Arcanist and paying any 2 mana, you can destroy a nonblack creature. The downside is that it's a 1/1 for 4 mana, making it vulnerable to almost every creature and removal spell in the set.
I got my first booster box ever, and was very impressed with my pulls. I received a Kalonian Hydra, Vastwood Hydra, Archangel of Thune, Devout Invocation, Rise of the Dark Realms, Scavenging Ooze, and Mutavault.
I'm sure it may not feel like it, but your pulls from every box I watch you open are always so much better then mine. Last booster box I opened was Modern Masters, I got 1 mythic and a foil Kitchen Finks... That's it... Kind of jealous!
The term "Limited" refers to the Limited format. A limited bomb is something that changes the game in Draft or Sealed play, but is lackluster or unplayable in Constructed play.
Just started opening/playing magic within the last week, great videos, but an even greater box break, opening a booster box soon, hoping that I can have some of your luck.
M13 will be legal for play in Standard until the next block, Theros, is released. You still have plenty of time (a few months) to play with both M13 and Innistrad/Dark Ascension/ Avacyn Restored cards. The current Standard format includes the sets M13, M14, Innistrad, Dark Ascension, Avacyn Restored, Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash, and Dragon's Maze. Once Theros is released, Standard will become M14, RtR, Gatecrash, Dragon's Maze, and Theros.
If you give a sorcery flash (instead of 'making it an instant') it can't be countered by a 'counter target instant' spell, because it's still a sorcery. Not sure if that really matters all that much, it is there.
kitchen table is a term for casual magic play; it is called this because casual magic players play together at their houses rather than at local stores, usually at a large table (their kitchen tables) A kitchen table card is one that is not good enough in high-level play, but will see tons of play among casual gamers; one such card is rise of the dark realms. A very powerful card, but too costly see play in competition, yet sees lots of play at the kitchen table.
agreed,,the common argument is "what if I use it for drafting" and sure...that's fine..but in my opinion...that's not the way it's used the majority if the time.
I bought my first booster box because of this video. Got: Archangel of Thune, Chandra, Mutavault, Lifebane Zombie, Fiendslayer Paladin, Scavenging Ooze, Kalonian Hydra. Plus a bunch of other stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey man, I love your videos. I've watched a lot of em, and you got me on magic when I watched your video on Worldwake. (I got my own (non foil) Mind Sculptor now). Keep puttin em out, and I'll keep watching.
Megantic Sliver is a 6/6 for 6 mana. Quicken also enables you to draw a card on top of giving sorceries flash, allowing it to replace itself. Savage Summoning cannot be countered, it allows a creature to come into play as though it had flash...you stopped there? It makes the creature "cannot be countered", and it gets a +1/+1 counter on it. Pure value against blue mages :P Thank you for the video, was fun to watch, but I see why peeps say read all of the cards you show. Thank you for the vid
Your channel is just getting better and better, im happy to be a part of the rise of it. im subscribed to mrorangeguy and nalgae as well, but you are the absolute favourite. keep up the good work, man!
After seing this I went down to my local mtg store and got 6 m14 boosters. Got 3 mythics, 1 of which was a foiled Jace memory adept. I'm fucking doing backflips here
I have watched a few of your videos i like when you open the booster boxes they are always pretty humorous :D OH BABY was cracking up. Good job on the video i am subscribing NOWWW :D
Savage Summoning is great! You left out the last bit of it: "That spell can't be countered. That creature enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it." That is a lot better than just G: "Savage Summoning can't be countered. The next creature card you cast this turn can be cast as though it had flash," yes?
bought myself a M14 box and was able to find ALL Planeswalkers!!! + some seriously epic rares which included a sanguine bond :D never been any happier :D
also primeevil bounty might see some play after rotation but only in sideboard i think. it possibly is also unplayable in standard but its good for edh
out of the 93 booster given out for draft/winnings (63 for draft and 30 for winnings) my friend and I pulled a Kalonian. He pulled his from his draft packs. There was 1 Archangel of Thune pulled during the draft and some planeswalkers.
I am a big fan of green and this holidays I got my very first fat pack (m14) as a gift and pulled the Garruk, Caller of Beasts Planeswalker (first ever planeswalker I now own) and I even pulled a Ring of Three Wishes, I'd say that is a pretty awesome first ever fat pack opening.
Yea it is a nice concept, but getting a second glance at the Ring, it is a little high in mana cost isn't it? Still though 2 mythic rares in first fat pack is a nice feat.
bahlders its not constructed playable no. if it only cost like 1 or 2 to play and 5 to use the ability then it might be alright but 5 and 5 is just too much. may as well run Diabolic Tutor if you need to get a combo piece out
Primeval Bounty is an amazing card in Constructed play. Mana ramping to 6 mana isn't very difficult. Once that thing gets rolling its very difficult to get around.
That foil Scavenging Ooze is worth a lot of money because the D14 promo one has a different art. In fact, the promo Ooze is worth less than the non-foil one!
its called google you can buy cards off of tons of sites if your local gaming store doesnt sell m13 packs but im sure m13 will be in stores for another 6-12 months. and yes m13 is still legal in standard up until Nov
All i needed from m14 was Liliana's reaver and Archangel of thune, and i pulled them both :) Of course traumatize was also nice addition to my mill deck.
can anyone see why i should put an enter the infinite into my blue black deck? i've got one and i've been told to put it in as it's a mythic rare, but i can't see it being much use, other than to keep or sell on
Best pack I ever pulled was from a toolkit. Got 2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion in the same pack and one was foil when they were meta in standard so it was about $170 in one pack
This is probably rhe coolest channel and I love all of your videos I dont usally comment on videos but you really put your time and money into this and im definatly a new subscriber and going to tell my magic friends
Just to add about quicken, i love nothing more than using quicken to supreme verdict on my opponents turn so i can untap and drop something stupid on my turn right after :D
I opened 4 Mythics and 3 foil rares out of 12 packs of Gatecrash once. Nothing really worth anything but a few of them were nice additions to some guild based decks Id been working on.
I cant tell you how SORRY I am that you have had to wait this long for the video. I had a surprise 2 hour drive in the middle of the afternoon I couldn't avoid and then I mis-clicked a setting in the export of the video so it took 3 hours!!! So very sorry. I hope you can still see it in your kind little hearts to give that LIKE button a CRUSHING under the video...and if you feeling especially generous...it would be totally amazing if you used the SHARE feature too!!! You guys are awesome!
savage summoning + primordial hydra... cast it in the end of opponents turn it doubles at the beginning of yours and it is able to attack (and you don't lose the green mana you've used for savage because you get a +1/+1 from it) + can't be countered That's how I play it :)
Dude..thanks so much for the advise...I now see the error of my ways, I was wondering though, could you totally shoot me a pic of you and the GP trophy? How about that PTQ top 8! I always love getting advise from proven pros!
I would always combo volcanic Geyser with the liliana that made every swamp tap for four mana, and then I would just tap out and deal a gross amount of damage to my opponent and win. Was uber cheap.
primeval bounty is definately relavent now, especially with those primeval bounty centered decks out there. It costs more than liliana of the dark realms actually
Megantic Sliver is actually a lot better than he thinks it is, because it affects itself. it's a six-drop 6/6 that buffs all other slivers you control.
As someone who is looking to get into magic, would you recommend buying anything from the M14 core set? I've been told that I may be better off getting something from the RTR block. I'm looking at the Strength of Selesnya event deck from dragon's maze, but I don't really know what I'm going to get yet.
pretty new to mtg wondering what kind of deck to build.. like which elements to use together and how to use certian cards and what is tapping??? so difficult
You build should reflect you. There are five colors of MTG (and one more): White is usually cards working collectively such as solider decks. Black is usually destroying other spells, taking life, and discarding Blue is usually controlling, countering spells, drawing cards Red is usually dealing damage and having fast and weak creatures Green(My favorite) is usually big creatures and increasing power to creatures. And colorless is soulless spells and artifacts (Usually really powerful, just look at Emrakul). Pick a color to match your playing style. Tapping is using the card for an effect (such as land) then render it useless until your turn again. Of course there are cards that untap cards. MTG was very difficult for me at first, but I kept playing, and I finally beat my master!(My brother). Most abilities have reminder text, but sooner or later, you'll be saying NO DUH to them.
Tweety Gaming I reccomend going to a prerelease once you get your favorite color. It's just 25-30$, it's at a lot of different game stores, and you get a seeded pack, not to mention the fact that you get new cards before them! In some, you can even win packs!
I just started playing Magic, I bought the deck builder toolkit and the Fire Surge M14 intro pack. I'm really enjoying it so far and this video made me want to buy more boosters right now. This stuff is addictive! Great vid keep 'em coming :D
appreciate the better focus of your cam for this video and your zoom to enable your viewers to read the cards ^^
I like the really close zoom in like your 3rd pack. It's nice to be able to read the cards and see the art
I get shivers up spine when I watch a TH-cam video or open magic the gathering, stuff it amazing

M14 is the core set that got me back into Magic Just opened a booster box and fat pack on my channel but your pulls rocked. Love your vids.
i love that you are able to comply with your subs thats a refreshing scene considering most wont. btw keep up the great work!
23:40 - Has to be the most valuable card of all the packs, great pull!

With Elite Arcanist, say you exile giant growth. You can then tap and pay 1 colorless to play it. you get that instant every turn to use
I'm sure it may not feel like it, but your pulls from every box I watch you open are always so much better then mine. Last booster box I opened was Modern Masters, I got 1 mythic and a foil Kitchen Finks... That's it... Kind of jealous!
Giving a sorcery or an enchantment or a creature flash is giving you the abillity to cast it at instant speed
The term "Limited" refers to the Limited format. A limited bomb is something that changes the game in Draft or Sealed play, but is lackluster or unplayable in Constructed play.
3:49 for Liliana of the Dark Realm
12:35 Ajani,Caller of Pride
14:10 Mutavault
15:36 Primeval Beauty
18:44 Garruk, Caller of Beasts
23:40 (Screaming) FOIL SCAVENGING OOZE !!!!!
25:00 Xathid Necromancer
28:07 Sacvenging Ooze
30:19 Fiendslayer Paladin
Just started opening/playing magic within the last week, great videos, but an even greater box break, opening a booster box soon, hoping that I can have some of your luck.
if it were up to me, I would do the speed up version like I used to but people said they liked to see the longer versions...
M13 will be legal for play in Standard until the next block, Theros, is released. You still have plenty of time (a few months) to play with both M13 and Innistrad/Dark Ascension/ Avacyn Restored cards.

Yea, it's an HMC 150, I should just get a maco lens for this application I think.
If you give a sorcery flash (instead of 'making it an instant') it can't be countered by a 'counter target instant' spell, because it's still a sorcery.
Not sure if that really matters all that much, it is there.
thanks,I still little new to mtg. I don't know when to cycles cards and what set to removed
primeval bounty is amazing
it iz
My box had liliana, ajani, kalonian hydra, foil witchstalker, scavenging ooze, and some other stuffs.

The other day i finally bought my own cards. Started with a booster pack. First pack I opened had a Varaska the Unseen AND Jace, Architect of Thought.
agreed,,the common argument is "what if I use it for drafting" and sure...that's fine..but in my opinion...that's not the way it's used the majority if the time.
Primeval Bounty is a good mythic, worth $6 and actually meant to go with Into the Wilds, that makes it affordable and a landfall machine.
Finally a vid I won't fall asleep watching! Good job.
Hey man, I love your videos. I've watched a lot of em, and you got me on magic when I watched your video on Worldwake. (I got my own (non foil) Mind Sculptor now). Keep puttin em out, and I'll keep watching.

I opened a pretty cool box myself yesterday : Got chandra, liliana, an archangel of thune and a kalonian hydra + a foil kalonian hydra
After seing this I went down to my local mtg store and got 6 m14 boosters. Got 3 mythics, 1 of which was a foiled Jace memory adept. I'm fucking doing backflips here
if i were to do the same thing i would get 5 .25 cent rares and maybe 1 worth a couple bucks :/
Memory adept is worth NOTHING
***** nah bro it's 0 effect is mill 10 cards of an oponents library. Super awesome if you use it smart.
I think he was talking about cash value of the card. Not really worth much. But it's a pretty nice card to have in a mill deck
oh I obviously misunderstood. Well yes it's not worth much cash but it is undeniably useful in a mill deck.
I have watched a few of your videos i like when you open the booster boxes they are always pretty humorous :D OH BABY was cracking up. Good job on the video i am subscribing NOWWW :D
1.open one pack
2.get kolonian hydra
3. jump for joy
Just a tip...
Run Door of Destinies in a sliver deck and choose sliver every time, you will enjoy the results.
bought myself a M14 box and was able to find ALL Planeswalkers!!!
If i was looking to make an archangel deck, would it be more efficient moneywise to get a box and trade or buy the four archangels.
this box is ridiculous, congrats and keep the content coming
This was my first set ever and it was the thing that got me addicted
For the sliver that gives +3/+3, you would pay 6 mana for a 6/6, as it gives the bonus to itself. So that would be ok for limited I guess.
I am a big fan of green and this holidays I got my very first fat pack (m14) as a gift and pulled the Garruk, Caller of Beasts Planeswalker (first ever planeswalker I now own) and I even pulled a Ring of Three Wishes, I'd say that is a pretty awesome first ever fat pack opening.
cool except Ring of Three Wishes sucks
Yea it is a nice concept, but getting a second glance at the Ring, it is a little high in mana cost isn't it? Still though 2 mythic rares in first fat pack is a nice feat.
bahlders its not constructed playable no. if it only cost like 1 or 2 to play and 5 to use the ability then it might be alright but 5 and 5 is just too much. may as well run Diabolic Tutor if you need to get a combo piece out
bahlders Thing is, playing it in a green edh deck works pretty well. Then again, most things work well in edh...
Oh yeah! I run a Lili of the Dark Realms deck, and I think you need to look at Rakdos' Return! I don't get that win often, but it's so nice when I do.
Hell yeah man, good job on getting the planeswalkers in that box bro.
would you guys recommend buying a box to build a sliver deck (if u got no slivers at all) or just buy the cards u need?
There is a lot of nice sorcery's that would be nuts to cast at instant speed.
omfg dude you got the box that has alllll the cards I wanted from this set. Damn you're so lucky.
Primeval Bounty is an amazing card in Constructed play. Mana ramping to 6 mana isn't very difficult. Once that thing gets rolling its very difficult to get around.
That foil Scavenging Ooze is worth a lot of money because the D14 promo one has a different art. In fact, the promo Ooze is worth less than the non-foil one!
its called google
you can buy cards off of tons of sites if your local gaming store doesnt sell m13 packs but im sure m13 will be in stores for another 6-12 months. and yes m13 is still legal in standard up until Nov
nice box pulls, cant wait to draft some m14 on monday and friday this week
All i needed from m14 was Liliana's reaver and Archangel of thune, and i pulled them both :) Of course traumatize was also nice addition to my mill deck.
can anyone see why i should put an enter the infinite into my blue black deck? i've got one and i've been told to put it in as it's a mythic rare, but i can't see it being much use, other than to keep or sell on
3:52 OH BABY!!! He turned into Simply MTG
i started playing in revised as well and ran a play set of Nightmares. still like the Melissa Benson art best.
What are your thoughts on FTV:20 including Jace: The Mind Sculpter, which was just announced at SDCC?
Best pack I ever pulled was from a toolkit. Got 2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion in the same pack and one was foil when they were meta in standard so it was about $170 in one pack
yea..now that I know it's just my LCD...ill keep future videos hella zoomed in
This is probably rhe coolest channel and I love all of your videos I dont usally comment on videos but you really put your time and money into this and im definatly a new subscriber and going to tell my magic friends
Just to add about quicken, i love nothing more than using quicken to supreme verdict on my opponents turn so i can untap and drop something stupid on my turn right after :D
good mythical morning
I opened 4 Mythics and 3 foil rares out of 12 packs of Gatecrash once. Nothing really worth anything but a few of them were nice additions to some guild based decks Id been working on.
Nemenon, it's coresets are a great way to get into magic. Learn all you can now so when Theros comes out you mind can be blowin.
Awesome video. I am thinking about getting a booster box myself by the end of the week I cannot wait.
You guys are awesome!
savage summoning + primordial hydra... cast it in the end of opponents turn it doubles at the beginning of yours and it is able to attack (and you don't lose the green mana you've used for savage because you get a +1/+1 from it) + can't be countered
That's how I play it :)
Kitchen table means not the best in tournament play, but its good for just playing at home with friends.
3/5 planeswalkers in the set! Pretty darn good! No chandra or jace though.
All of your videos are great quality and I love the commentary. New subscriber
How cool would it be if the last one hade a jace and a foil Chandra? (or vice versa)
Dude..thanks so much for the advise...I now see the error of my ways, I was wondering though, could you totally shoot me a pic of you and the GP trophy? How about that PTQ top 8! I always love getting advise from proven pros!
Dude, your videos are awesome. They are the highlight of my week.
I must say you have the best box i have seen
I would always combo volcanic Geyser with the liliana that made every swamp tap for four mana, and then I would just tap out and deal a gross amount of damage to my opponent and win.
Was uber cheap.
I pulled two Scavenging Oozes as well. One Regular and the the foil one a pack later :D
22:34 that pack was SICK
for all of you who don't pay attention this video was released in Jul 19 2013 so most likely the mythics have already been given away
i got a door of destinies at pre-release but i need three more for my human/splash of angels deck
primeval bounty is definately relavent now, especially with those primeval bounty centered decks out there. It costs more than liliana of the dark realms actually
by "crazy money hydra" which one are you reffering to?
i bought a fat pack of m14 this morning and pulled a foil liliana and 2 chandras!!! one of the best fat pack i have ever got
Megantic Sliver is actually a lot better than he thinks it is, because it affects itself. it's a six-drop 6/6 that buffs all other slivers you control.
Dude, where are you from?
Your videos are great. All wizzards in my town are watching you :)
By the way, I splash Chandra's phoenix in a rakdos constructed and it works completely fine.
The foil ooze is $16 now. And mutavault is at $25. Good value in this box.
As someone who is looking to get into magic, would you recommend buying anything from the M14 core set? I've been told that I may be better off getting something from the RTR block. I'm looking at the Strength of Selesnya event deck from dragon's maze, but I don't really know what I'm going to get yet.
best booster box i saw until today, liked it and subscribed it :)
pretty new to mtg wondering what kind of deck to build.. like which elements to use together and how to use certian cards and what is tapping??? so difficult
You build should reflect you. There are five colors of MTG (and one more):
White is usually cards working collectively such as solider decks.
Black is usually destroying other spells, taking life, and discarding
Blue is usually controlling, countering spells, drawing cards
Red is usually dealing damage and having fast and weak creatures
Green(My favorite) is usually big creatures and increasing power to creatures.
Most abilities have reminder text, but sooner or later, you'll be saying NO DUH to them.
thx
Tweety Gaming
I reccomend going to a prerelease once you get your favorite color. It's just 25-30$, it's at a lot of different game stores, and you get a seeded pack, not to mention the fact that you get new cards before them! In some, you can even win packs!
