Question: I have started to do my Dutch beekeeping course to get my official Dutch beekeeping certificate. Tonight lesson 2 and we had the biology class about bees. My question is why the queen pupae only needs 7 days and the worker bee 12 days in the pupae stage?
In class they could not really answer this.

@@gobees919 Queens are fed exclusively royal jelly which speeds up the development while other bees are fed dyluted honey and pollen after 3 days.

Capped honey if that helps.

It is indeed capped honey, and the bees have capped this wet, where the capping is touching the honey, you can also find dry cappings where the bees leave a air pocket in between and this looks more yellow and uniform. -Kieran
