Tbh, Tyson did something that was "shocking", but it still doesn't excuse the obvious head butts he was copping to provoke a response. The ref didn't pull it up so Tyson whispered some sweet nothings in Holyfields ears. End of the day, both good people.

At 2:22 Holyfield is motioning for Mike Tyson to go back to his corner to get his mouth pice. That's something I never realized in other videos. This clearly proves that Mike Tyson had already planned to bite his ear because he wanted to get disqualified because he realized he was losing the fight. A Mike Tyson was the one who was head butting a lot by missing with his punches so much and it was him in the first fight as well.

Amazing how far Mike Tyson has come. He already had a somewhat notorious reputation prior to this rematch, but after this incident he became universally despised. It's impossible to defend what's indefensible, and when Tyson calmed down and realized that he offered an apology. That's the Tyson that will be remembered. Only real men can admit when they're wrong. In August 2023 can anyone honestly say that Tyson has more haters than fans? A combination of humility, fathering children, religion, and just an honest burning desire to make himself into a better human being overall has endeared Mike Tyson to the rest of the world. I may speak as one - but I dare anyone to match his humility.

im glad tyson did it, his eye was ripped open it was horrific and holyfield said its from a left hook replays show its clearly a butt. called a butt by the ref the commentators but holyfield somehow knew his missed left hook was the cause, truth is the fight wouldve been stopped eventually from the cut possilbly a no contest or technical decision since it was NOT from a punch and the cut was gushing blood.

Schooled? Holyfield really used his head lol. The dude is also known for steroids. Besides most people agree. This isn't a prime Tyson. Lost most of his speed. His peekaboo style. 88-90 Tyson is better hands down. And I'm not a holyfield hater. I loved the first match. And his trilogy with bowe. Tyson had a short prime. Mostly bc of the people around him. When cus died and then losing rooney, And Don King was a straight cancer to the man. While it is an excuse. Tyson choose they choices. I'm just saying it's a shame that he started doing drugs and partying after cus died. His fight with douglas was ridiculous. And going to prison he gained too much weight and relied on power vs his original fighting style. I don't even care who would've won prime for prime. But that's the fight fans deserved

I was not aware there was video of him spitting the piece of ear out. Relieved he didn’t swallow it at least. Holyfield can say all day the headbutts were accidental but his record before and after would support intentional. An intentional bite and intentional headbutt are very different offenses but 10 out of 10 boxers would choose to loose a piece of his ear rather than a cut near the eye. Holyfield’s injury was disgusting sportsmanship, but using your head as a weapon constantly damaging your opponents eyes that could end their career is bad as well. I’m guessing this is why Lane gave him another chance after the initial disqualification. Plus no matter the outcome if Mike Tyson bit your ear off in a fight that you finished that’s a story even your great great great grandkids can tell and score pussy. I bet Holyfield gets tons of puss telling that story to girls, lol.

When Tyson ran up to Holyfield as his back was turned you can see Mike momentarily get ready to swing at the back of Holyfield's head, but then suddenly change his mind and push him instead..That, to me, tells me mike was still in control of his rage/anger and just wanted to get the hell outta that ring. He did receive medical attention, that's why at 7:23, Mills Lane (the referee) asks the ringside doctor if Holyfield is able to continue, and the doctor clearly says "yes". If Holyfield hadn't been able to continue, Tyson would have been disqualified after the first bite.
