Well Evergrace is one of those game that was released in the early 2000s for the PS2. This game sort of have serious moments with Morpheus going insane after his granddaughter died as well as desperately trying to end some sort of cycle, which resulted in him destroying the empire that once looked up to him. The main characters Darius and Sharlene also having tragic backstories with Darius being shunned by his home village for having a crest and Sharlene being disowned by her family because she refused to discriminate Darius, which resulted in them being friends. But things got worse when a neighboring village attacked his home village due to disputes about creating farm lands over sacred trees. Darius watched as the raiders kill his parents. Sharlene comforted Darius, which caused his crest to activate can caused her to be transported to the Empire. Darius spending his whole life trying to avenge his family as well as hoping that he’ll be punished for killing Sharlene, when really he didn’t. But the game itself kinda didn’t deliver that due to the laughable voice acting, limited graphics and soundtrack that can come off as goofy at times, especially during serious moments.
Hey dude, this was one of the first games I bought on PS2 when I was a kid. I thought it was really tough and never completed it. It's an interesting take to think of it as the precursor to Dark Souls! I'd like to hear your genuine thoughts on the game too!
This was also one of the first PS2 games I had as well. It's an interesting game, some good and bad parts. The music and enemies are really dope, along with the weapons and armor. Plus fashion souls 😎 The story is kinda garbo, but I think it may of played a role in forming dark souls story, where they don't really shove a story in your face, they just let you put the pieces together. Overall it's uhhh... Okay I suppose? 😂 I wouldn't say it's a hidden gem by FromSoftware, but it is a neat little nugget of their earlier work.
