To supplement my original comment, when you play as a paragon, you will want a Tactics shield to use because you will want to use that line from time to time, certainly more than any other secondary line that needs spec. To clarify, you will find some skills from classes other than warriors useful, but usually they will require little if any investment. At least that's my opinion. For this reason I will always recommend going warrior as the paragon's initial secondary. You can get the others later.
In my view, one of the things that limits the Paragon is the shield. Unlike the Warrior who has max shields tied to Strength, the Paragon has no max shields tied to Leadership. That means a Paragon is usually limited to using Command, Motivation or Tactics, which leaves the player relying on others for things like Splinter Weapon. A Warrior with a strength shield can bring conjures, weapon spells, beefed up shadow steps, etc.
That's a good point. I guess you could technically use, say, a Channeling Focus if you wanted to, though obviously at the cost of some defensiveness. Though, on that note, a focus-like item that could improve the recharge and activation times for chants could've been nice?
@@Sientir BTW, nice to see someone put this amount of effort in such an old game. My posts are meant to supplement, not be critical. I never run Motivation since I want others (i.e. heroes) to handle the healing and most general support, so I can really only speak mostly for Command, etc. and some Tactics when it comes to actually playing as a Para. Usually comes down to whether I want to inflict conditions/damage or just damage. I essentially only use 3 elites, but the para heroes will use more.
@@Sientir I have one of each profession plus two more. One of your para vids just drew my attention, so I started there. Long time GW player. I consider myself good from experience, but far from the really good solo dungeon runner types.
@@tarheel7406 Gotcha. I've been enjoying your comments. :D Something I've learned from having started streaming Guild Wars over the last couple of months is that, because I play mostly with heroes, I've gotten somewhat cut off from The Hivemind. Streaming has connected me with some players who have a lot more experience with the high-end play scene (like Speed Clearing), and I've learned a lot from that. I do find the different playstyles thing to be really interesting, though. So, again, thank you for commenting and sharing. :)
Leadership gives energy based on the number of allies (including you) affected by your shouts or chants. Some skills (e.g. "It's Just a Flesh Wound") have a bug that functionally causes Leadership to trigger twice instead of once.

I love having discussions about game design.
Do you mostly play a Paragon?

You are making mistake here. Paragorn gets his leadership energy from all party members even if skill it single target.

@@Sientir Yeah I remembered myself it wrong.
