This one had a good old school BvS vibe to it with the mixture of great images, interesting b-roll with voice overview. Definitely captured some beauties there Brendan, that turtle and Heron image was as you said a memorable moment
Perfect flashback to those pure exploration days of Brendan's adventures before any social needs crept in, Absolutely loved sharing your journey on this.
Loved the video, did that trip in 2019, brought back many memories, Quito and the Galapagos Islands - what a wonderful part of the world. The bird-flu a bit concerning, hopefully that can get that under control in the near future.
Great video Brendan. Really enjoyed the nostalgic Quito bits. You would have never stayed in Centro back in the day! Awesome photos. They just kept coming...

Great video! We're headed there in 2 weeks covering Quito, Galapagos and the cloud forest. As an amateur photographer, your commentary and captured images gave me inspiration and ideas. I'll have 3 zoom lenses plus a teleconverter covering a range of 16~1120mm. Did you feel safe walking about with a camera in Quito? I'm getting different feedback depending on who I ask. I want to photograph the historic sections but not at the risk of getting mugged.
What size Shimoda Action X do you use? I have a 50L but it's too big for day trips. We're going to the Galapagos this year and I'm looking for a new bag.
"Pick-up truck, fried chicken and Jesus" 🙏 😂. Sea Lion Patrol, part of the Galapagos Island Security Team, lol. The Ocean and the beaches look beautiful must have been a great trip. What about the new Canon RF 200-800mm, I know it's a f/6.3-9.0 would be interesting to see how it compares? and it's a lot cheaper than the RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1. The Heron and the Baby Turtle, definitely a mixed emotion image, something you would see in a National Geographic magazine👍👍
@@BrendanvanSon Lagos, obviously! I read great things about that particular place. Like: 'The cafe is owned by the world-renowned photographer and TH-camr Brendan van Son, whose name, "The Studio," is a nod to his photography background.' Thought I'd give it a try somewhere between saturday and monday.
In my last video I had Cape Fur Seals instead of sea lions to contend with. My take was that they are like cats. They own the space they inhabit completely to the exclusion of everyone else.

Thanks buddy!
Agree, loved it old school style

Thank you Brendan on your wonderful video of the Galapagos. You’ve captured how amazing this place is. You make me want to visit it again soon.
Thanks for watching, Jackie. You should definitely re-visit if you can. I've been 5 times, it gets better every time I go.
Well done! Great combination of story telling with photos. The floating hotel is for sure the way to see that place. Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it, George!

Glad someone relates :D

absolutely loved this video

Excellent. 2016 was when I was last able to visit. Really look forward to making it back. Wonderful memories. Cheers!
The Galapagos are special, I hope you get to go back!

Haha.
The 200-800 is just too slow for me. I need faster focusing speeds.
The turtle pic 😢 so beautiful but so sad
Yeah, nature can be harshly beautiful can't it?
What travel tripod do you use?
I'm using the 3Legged Thing tripods.
Thanks
How Canon you make such Trips? It is so expensive. And the Café in Lagos ?
It's part of my business, leading photography tours and on photo assignments.
Only missed one thing in this video: the "I'm On A Boat" song😂Aw sh$! get your towels ready!
Oh man, I totally botched this didn't I? haha
My takeaways from the first 15 minutes - Fruits (peach cobbler at 1:54, Pickup Trucks, Fried Chicken and Jesus)...
hahahha... mmm peach cobbler.
Will the bossman be by any chance in his original coffee-shop end of this week? I would love to buy a anything-but-coffee from him.
Haha, depends which shop! I may be around.

Cape Fur Seals can be aggressive, no? They are awesome though.
The sea lions just randomly sleeping anywhere in that town 🤣
They're so funny man haha
I see you are applying your avian ICM techniques in the field. Remember to send Fred his royalty check….
Stupid Fred. hahaha
The blue footed booby is on my bucket list. But, I'm afraid I won't be seeing any here in Missouri!
Haha, never know. They do get lost from time to time. I saw one in Mexico once!
You would have to pay me a LOT of money to climb that ladder
I'm not scared of heights, but one-handed climbing that ladder with my camera in the other hand was a bit nerve-wracking for sure haha
@@BrendanvanSon The top of a 6 foot stepladder is about my limit 😃
