Never had an issue washing the wiring harness on ultrasonic cleaner. Heck, on very greasy one I would leave them on purple green for weeks! Try Simpme Green. It won’t damage aluminum. I’ve left heads in Simple Green for weeks. All grease falls off. ❤ash the harness with simple green then blow out all your connectors if concerned. Then put in the over at 120 degrees to dry them up. Never had an issue.
The idle controller is mounted on the wrong side. As a rule, the file can be seen and it points downwards. The engine would still run. Greetings from Germany!
Did you zinc plated fuel rail? I sent mine for powder coating but they were not sure if ends are glued, crimped or sth else and were worrying that chemicals may lead to leaking....
This reminds me to share a link to it amzn.to/3wlsPjv I get commission on Amazon purchases, so please get one. I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't work well though.
G'day, Your engine is really looking great. The ultrasonic cleaner does an awesome job. Q: What solution is in yours. I'm looking forward to seeing this start. Will it be on the stand or in the car. So, thanks for sharing your knowledge. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
I think I'm skipping the engine test stand this time around. Funny because it's my own product. This time I'm using purple power degreaser in the ultrasonic. It's available from Walmart here. Wonder if it exists in Australia. Any mild degreaser is good. Cheers, Tom
You gotta admire folks that spend a ton to get an old Porsche up and running. It's uneconomical to say the least. You end up making the shop owner rich and yourself poorer, but if it makes you happy, then more power to you.
I don't think you are referring to me, but I know what you mean. Economics and car hobby should never be used in the same sentence. This channel is about sharing how to fix these cars ourselves.
All good, that's how it goes sometimes. Making progress, moving forward, that's what counts!
Progress is progress and your attention to detail is great to watch and learn from. Engine is looking great and getting closer…cheers.

Ok, good to know! Thx
BTW. the "triple square" drive you mention is called "spline bit"
Looking great, thanks for sharing your knowledge Tom
BG means Bezugsmarken-Geber or reference sensor . DG means Drehzahl-Geber or speed sensor.
Thank you! I can't even spell heffenweissen. Do you think these were the original sensors from 87 being that they were labeled this way?
That engine is starting to look really good 😁
spent some time trying to see how to remove injector rail as i needed to remove injectors due to rubber ring failure. thank you
Perfect, very good idea to change those O rings, top and bottom.
@@GarageTimeAutoResto so would you recommend buying the "injector kit"
All that freshly plated hard lines and fittings look great. Hopefully your parts arrive asap. So close.
So close yet so far. Still need to clean the oil cooler and install the exhaust too.
Very impressive technical skills!

Thank you! You are right, there is an arrow on the back that should point down.. it's been driving like that for a while.

Yellow zinc plated yes. The ends and fittings are brazed together.
Wonder how many ultrasonic cleaners that Tom’s sold for Amazon? I know I’m one of them.

Purple power seems very popular. Unfortunately, it is not available in Australia.
How about simple green?
You could have gotten the speed and reference sensors way way cheaper than Pelican.
Really how much?
