I love the idea of using wool fabric ,years ago I got a very big ironing board from my local supermarket but thay don't sell the covers for them. I will have to go shopping tomorrow thank you
I have a wool blanket my mom had someone make from wool coats she sent away to be made into blankets. I was about 8 years old or 72 years ago. I am going to try this wonderful project to now repurpose the blanket. It has been in the cedar chest all these years. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea. I have a box of tricks like your bag of tricks. I also have enough of the silver fabric to make a new top if my current one shrinks... I could also air dry it. You are so thoughtful to share this great idea.
Very nice. I love the resourcefulness of using up every bit of pieces left from previous projects. You now have an "ironing board cover of many colors" 😊
I love that ironing board cover! I thought I was the only one who had multiple layers on my ironing board! I think it irons better when it’s soft and a little bit spongy. I have an old tiny wooden ironing board that I like very much because it’s longer. I also found a really cool, very small kind of industrial iron. It’s the kind that has a lid that you pulled down, but it’s much smaller than the larger ones I’ve seen. I’d like to make a cover for that too. Thank you so much Marie this is really a mighty fine post.
I showed the last couple of minutes of this to my husband as I was intrigued by those "angry hooks". He hadn't heard of them either, but they're exactly what I need to keep my ironing board cover in place! Guess what we'll be searching for online tomorrow... 😁 Thank you for a really helpful and interesting video, Marie!
I enjoy your vlogs as you explain them very well also like when you are making a garment how you explain how you are altering your pattern s i find it very useful thank you so much look forward to your next vlog x
The cat will love the wool. I need to make a new cover as I can no longer buy the proper one. However, it is because I have a (actually 2 as I have my mother's) Sears ironing board from the late '50's/early'60's which has a lever that makes it either the shape of yours or extends flanges to make it a rectangle. I cannot tell you how much I love this ironing board. Usually it is in the rectangular mode and only occasionally do I slide the flanges in for a particular use when ironing tops of pants, etc. I know the silver fabric is available.....now to actually get it.
Marie, I think you are mistaken, we are in fact under the ironing board to see your cat. Seeing your beautiful work and the bottom of your ironing board was simply a wonderful bonus 😂❤
Thank you for sharing this! I love the idea of using wool for the cover! Brilliant! I’ll be replacing my ironing set up soon and now plan on sewing up a wool cover for it. 😀 i plan to follow your leas on using a cord instead of elastic.
Just in time! I need to replace my ironing board cover and was wondering what to do! I love your wool idea! Those are EXPENSIVE to purchase! And it's good to know that I can keep layering my covers! Also, cute black kitty!
Thanks Marie! Now I know what a bodkin is and no longer need to use a large safety pin!

Thanks - you read my mind! I need to do this asap.
YES!!! my is awful, great idea Marie!
If you wet your silver cover can you stretch it out to fit your ironing board?

You are right! 😻😻😂
I have multiple layers on my ironing board too😊
This is great! My ironing board is a smaller length
so it’s sometimes hard to find the perfect size cover.
Thank you so much!

The next time I find some wool in a thrift shop, I'll know what to do with it.
