2023 was a great year in film. I genuinely enjoyed all these films, some more than others. I'm sure Oppenheimer will take it home (no surprise there) but man, the indie films brought serious heat this year. I wish one of the indie films takes home the trophy because they were so great in story telling. Anatomy of the Fall, American Fiction, The Holdovers, and Past Lives were all phenomenal stories that tapped into various emotions throughout the film. Go indies! But the blockbusters were not slouches either. Bravo 2023 films!
Oppenehimer was by far & away the best film of 2023 for me!!! It deserves all the awards. Outstanding across the board. But I will say I’m really stoked for all the films nominated this year.
"Anatomy of a fall" 🇨🇵 is simply a masterpiece 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 By far the best film of this awards season, including the Oscars. But, unfortunately, by not belonging to the Hollywood mainstream, it will lose to "Oppenheimer." Cristopher Nolan's movie is a great film, with superb production, but in no way superior to Justin Triet's movie. International critics have said it very clearly. 🌎 And I can't stop repeating that the german Sandra Hüller 🇩🇪, protagonist of "Anatomy..." (and the Zone of Interest), is by far THE BEST ACTRESS of 2023 and 2024. She is the heart of Triet's movie, so it will be tremendously unfair to see her lose the Leading Actress award this sunday to Emma Stone 🇺🇲 or Lily Gladstone 🇺🇲 Anyway. Time will have the last word, so I'm going without a doubt for "Anatomy of a fall" 🏆🥇
