  • If you've never thought about traveling to Bucharest, Romania, you'd be in good company. That's how I felt until about 60 days ago when my husband invited me to tag along on his business trip.
It was a short trip - we only had about 3 days to explore and spent 2 of them in the city of Bucharest. But we were able to hit some must-see tourist destinations as well as a few out of the way places.
Enjoy my brief tour of Bucharest!
Here are the locations I show you in the video:
    - Herestrau Park
    - National Village Museum
    - Old Town Bucharest
    - Carteresti Carusel
    - Palace of Parliament
    - Izvor Park
And there's so much more to Romania so stay tuned for more video and check out my travel articles on my blog allthingsfadra.com and my travel website shesonthego.com

It’s an odd place. Definitely remnants of communism but also a proud history.

I went because my husband had a work trip and I tagged along. I’m SO glad I did. Eastern Europe feels like undiscovered territory to me now… and it’s so cheap!

I hope to spend a day in Bucharest on November 3rd, prior to our football match v FCSB. What do you suggest for a few hours prior to the match?

Depends on what you like to do. If you just want to enjoy some food and drink and local culture, I would head to Old Town Bucharest. Lots of cool shops and restaurants and a few sites along the way. We accessed it easily through the subway (which is crazy cheap) and Uber. If you’re more interested in history, the Palace of Parliament is amazing. Just make sure you have tickets in advance!

@@Allthingsfadra thank you for your kind reply. I have about nine hours from landing until the match kicks off, so I will try to visit the parliament building, look around the old town and then make my way to the match. I don’t drink before football matches, as I’d rather sight-see, but I will try and partake in a traditional Romanian dish during my time in Bucharest. Thanks again.

Funny they have discovered Romania now after the bad media stereotypes! And guess what, for this region of Europe it tops!

I actually didn’t really know much about Romania - good or bad. I went with an open mind and had a great time!

@@Allthingsfadra We have some nomads who arent natives like your Indians or the aboriginal people in Latin America and Australia, but came from India and Pakistan (the gypsies aka Roma/Romani NOT Romanians). So they went to beg, rarely to steal in Western Europe, that's why the stereotpye. But they are everywhere in Europe, just that our gypsies do that more than the others probably. Because in Romania unfortunately they have been more marginalised. They used to be slaves in Europe, but since decades or many centuries are free now and can't give up on their habits. Very traditional people but in the worst medieval way. Then, before we had a stereotype with Ceausescu. Ceausescu used to be a very respect communist in the world, even Nixon visited him. But Ceausescu in the 80s started to pay the external debts of Romania by starving the people. And Romania was really doing ok even in communism before this. Just that the whole industry and tehnology in the Eastern Europe and Bloc, were outdated compared to the West. So Communism was brought here by the bloody Russians who destroyed half of Europe. People in Europe are still far from the American mentality. They hate the neighbours, they want to be over them (angry and pride is often in Europe).
