Thank you guys for watching as always!! Mulțumesc if you're Romanian😍 If you're new here, we're Oskar and Dan, two Swedish boys trying to see as much of the world as we can. This year we're trying to visit 100 countries😱 Romania was country 89 on the list and we visited in late June. If you wanna come along for the rest of the journey, hit subscribe🥰 Take care and see you around the world!
Bucharest is ABSOLUTELY worth visiting! Amazing architecture (it's nickname used to be "Little Paris"), great food, friendly people, it definitely has a certain "je ne sais quoi" that makes you fall in love with it.
Thank y'all for inspiring me to visit Bucharest and Romania recently. What a gem that place is, I fell in love with the country. Much thanks from Texas.
Guys, the building that you referred to as "the ugliest" (the Tehnoimport tower) is actually a modernist architectural jewel from the interwar period that is in a really bad shape due to decay (it will be restored in a few years (the hotel that you stayed in was in a similar shape until last year). The thing with Bucharest is that, architecture-wise, it's only worth visiting for its huge modernist legacy - which you completely missed but I suppose it's not really your thing.
There appear to be many treasures in Bucharest but, yes, the city is especially graced with a rich modernest legacy. Some buildings can be hard to appreciate when they’re in rough condition. Great to hear the Tehoimport Tower is slated for restoration!
Bucharest used to look really good, used to be called Little Paris but then it was bombed in WW2, mutilated by the commies by demolishing old buildings and replace them with commie flats and we also had a horrible earthquake in 1977 which did a lot of damage.
When I visited Bucharest just before covid I could get in to the parliament and had a tour. Shame you've missed it, as it's the world’s second-largest administrative building (after the Pentagon).
You're right about travel being a valuable learning experience. Mark Twain said 'don't tell me where you went to school, tell me where you have traveled.'

Romanian from Brașov here! Nicely done video guys! When you said Emily in Bucharest I burst into laughter because Bucharest is nicknamed "Little Paris" due to it's architecture so when you said that I thought about a cheap Romanian spin-off of that show that should be called like "Emilia în București" Anyways, have fun exploring our brothers in Moldova!
@@guusgeluk3693 I mean Bucharest is a bigger city and the capital. It depends what kind of lifestyle you enjoy more. Brașov is clearly more chill than Bucharest. You can also find jobs in English or German both in the capital and in Brașov so I don't think it is a big problem. Brașov is going to have an international airport soon so it is also an advantage. Plus, it has better public transport than Bucharest and much better trafic. In the end it is up to what you want from a city but Brașov is one of the biggest cities in Romania so there are plenty opportunities even for foreigners.

Great video as always 💌 When I travelled to Bratislava this year, a tour guide told us that huge fountains within communist cities were not build to please the people but to make demonstrations nearly impossible because of the missing square to stand on and the noises coming from the fountains. That completely changed my opinion on communist fountains 😂

The oldest extant document written in Romanian remains Neacșu's letter (1521) and was written using the Romanian Cyrillic alphabet, which was used until the late 19th century. (Bulgarian) But anyway we know we are brothers...
Thanks for yet another wonderful travelogue dear Oskar and Dan. I really enjoyed it very much. Bucharest appears to have the very best and worst architecture. That horrendous large building that houses their parliament surely must be the very worst of Cucesceau the vile dictator. At least there appears to be lots of fountains as a compensation. Happy landings. Looking forward so much to your next destination. Best always, David
I have so many places I would like to visit and learn about in this global community we share. Because I'm still new at this whole traveling thing, it just dawned on me that visiting formally known communist countries might just be a really good visual education for me. Reading about such a topic would completely bore me. Until now all I ever thought about when someone would reference Bucharest Romania was that Michael Jackson performed there back in the 90's. Also that "ugliest building" reminds me of the Capital Records building in LA.
