Can you cover the 2011 case of Nam had married Lim Chae Won, 37.
This is the story of the Korean man who bought a bride and stabbed her to death within a week. Bought for 10k. Family was unaware he had a mental illness. Her death lead to a change in mail order brides. Also is a reminder to anyone who marries and moves internationally.
This google search should bring up info on case.

This is horrific. Sadly there was a 911 phone call similar in Romania a couple years ago. The girl was kidnapped and assaulted as well. She called 911 and was treated like trash. The lady was extremely rude about how she didn't know the address or phone number she was at. She explained she was brought there in the trunk of the car and locked in a room in the house. The woman on the phone acted like she was making it up since she had access to a phone. You could almost hear the eye rolling sound in her voice. And, yes, the girl was found murdered not too long after. I really feel like anyone treating a victim like this on a phone call should get life in prison for aiding and abetting the murderer. They can trace calls, so no excuse for this at all. I feel like if you are in this situation, when you call say they are evading taxes and are committing fraud. Police will be there quickly.

She could have been saved, they had more than enough time. My heart goes to the family of this woman, and honestly f both the korean and romanian police and emergencies for acting like this.

This was so frustrating, the victim did everything we are taught when we are in such a situation and the police failed her. She gave such specific details...I shudder thinking about her last few hours alive and then the fact that he cut her into so many parts, that makes me think that he had experience and she wasn't his first victim or even second, there are probably many more.
The fact he didn't have the death penalty is a failure of the institution, he gets to eat, breath and walk around after committing such a terrible crime.
May she rest in peace and thank you Megan for bringing this case to us.💜🙏🏽

If this doesn't lead to changes in the police handling in South Korea, I don't know what would've been done. Plus in some countries, any cases that ended up disastrous usually have the current management resigned or arrested for mishandling of the case.
May the victim rest in peace. Just horrifying to imagine her last hours in life would've been unconscious while being dismembered. And given the gravity of the crime, just hope that he won't get parole.

What types of domestic fights are happening in Korea for such blatant abuse to be considered a “couples fight” by so many? This seems to be exacerbated by a culture of disregard for female life

the police being useless in every country? i'm not surprised. i'm especially surprised at this situation though. i remember butt dialing the police in korea and they immediately sent me a text saying they were tracking my location and were coming to me. the fact that they excuse this as just a married couple fighting really tells you about couple dynamics in korea, where patriarchy is still very strong.

And human flesh pills, how nauseating. This story is twisted on so many levels and that entire police station should be replaced! Such lack of concern for a human life! My heart aches for the family! Like if you're just trying to be objective, that was sooooo stupid! Like wtf with being considerate of neighbors or "neighbors" being considerate of neighbors thinking it's a marriage argument when that man is single af?! I guess those neighbors didn't even care to know their neighbors well enough, they could have been next man

Reminded me of a similar case in Russia. Girl got killed by her boyfriend in the apartment. She was screaming for help during 4-5 hours or so. Neighbours called the police 7 times and each time the police said that they will come soon, but as you can imagine they never came. Eventually neighbours brought a electrode welding tool to take down the door. They found the girl killed, one hundred or so knife wounds plus other wounds. Neighbours called the police for the last time and simply said ¨Girl is dead, what should we do?¨.

can i just say as someone who quite literally is dependent on subtitles to comprehend things, having subtitles that 1. arent just youtubes auto-generated ones and 2. are actually big and readable against the background, is SO helpful for me to be able to actually process the information im being given, which i especially need watching true crime cases (duh) so ive been BINGE watching your videos, and i love how you lay everything out for us as viewers! this case is so heartbreaking, but....disappointingly unsurprising for law enforcement reaction. god my heart. a lot of people frown apon including 911/emergency calls from true crime cases, but i think it can be SO telling and important to a case and how the public takes it. no words are even proper to describe how this case is or how it makes me feel. thank you for covering things that people havent heard of/doesnt get a lot of coverage

As an abuse survivor, one of the moments in the relationship that ill never forget was when he hit me a lot in public, infront of a govt.building and two security guards. No one did anything, everyone acted like they didnt see it. I felt so alone in the world in that instant and scared. Could have been killed and no one would have stepped in to help. So i cant even imagine how she felt going thru the SA, a whole stranger, alone at night, the neighbors and the police not taking it seriously then the worst happening omg. My heart hurts so much for her.

This is so infuriating especially when they literally had the chance. Compared to other murder cases where the victim bodies were just found, this victim actively sought for help and alive at the time. She has remained alive for 3 hours but no follow up that was made within those crucial times.

Those cops were unqualified for their jobs. What's the point of asking where the victim was when the victim has already repeatedly said they didn't know. Anyway, eating humans for "health reasons" sounds like one of those tribal rituals from Africa where some tribes believe that eating the meat of their enemy gives them their "life force" so they become stronger.

It isn't considered as minding others business if you see someone being abused cause it doesn't matter what the realationship between the victim and suspect are, still it is violent and that's our responsibility to help the victim. Altough I know it could be in bystander effect theory but letting others do their business is different with being apathy
