This entire concert quite literally brings tears to my eyes every time for years now. Hiromi is one of the most genuine, present in the moment conduits for creation on the planet. We are blessed to experience her talent!

I came here to say that too.. Talk about music as a language.. Hiromi is a force to be reckoned with but I am also a huge fan of David Fiuczynski (guitar player) and his work with Screaming Headless Torsos and his overall fretless guitar work! That being said, I don’t know much about the other players other than the fact that they are insanely good! I hope people who watch this realize that at least half of this is spontaneous improvisation and at a level comparable to telepathy haha

We chatted for a bit and she is such a sweet and charming girl so I had to ask her how can she turn into such a monster when she's at the keys? She blushed and giggled, "I don't know."

She said that no one had ever asked her to sign their keyboard before! She actually asked me if it was ok with me if she posted a picture of the signing on her website😂 I was in such awe. There has to be a story here, of a formal piano teacher in her early years telling her to sit still and maintain decorum at the instrument... yet after attempting to restrain itself within those confines for a time, her Spirit rebelled with a Primal Scream like labor pains, and gave birth to a playing style more joyous, and spontaneous, and invigorating, and infused with love than anything ever seen before at the pianoforte--or any other instrument, for that matter.

No one should have fear or walls !! musicians that can let go like that are the ones we learn technique from ... Mozart, Hendrix, Miles, big mama thornton ...on and on !! Music theory was written after people played .... for people like you to figure out how to play ... " those that cant do teach "

Spot on! I started out my life as a composer and arranger of modern jazz. THat was at the time when Miles et al invented Cool Jazz. All this to say that having studied the classics and arranged for the the local TV octet. I know a thing or two about music. Switched to IT because I couldn't feed my family by exploring the new world of music."Too young to get married..." Anyway, I entirely agree with you that Hiromi is the only musician I know whjo has truly assimilated both classics and jazz and has come out with a new innovative mix unparalleled in the music scene. Her mastery of the keyboard is unreal and her counterpoint between drums, base and piano is the work of genius. A Big Responsibility to carry on such frail shoulders...

would certainly satisfy all the over-playing-loving chump fans who don't care about listening, interplay, creating new colors and ideas .... that's for sure!

@@davidfuzefiuczynski are you fucking kidding? Go watch the G3 live jams of Steve vai, joe satriani and Guthrie Govan. You'd be surprised how creatively guthrie kills every time, while steve vai shows his dominance assertively, cutting guthrie's lines. Guthrie = GOD

@@akarshrastogi3682 yes, serious ability, not a whole lot of space and i hate your whole wind up of "steve vai shows his dominance assertively," what is this? a sports competition? silly me for thinking music can be a path for creativity and spirituality

@@davidfuzefiuczynski exactly, I am hating on steve Vai for that. He cuts in when guthrie is actually being brilliant, and plays the same licks and fast riffs thinking speed+technique = master. Guthrie is the ultimate genius.

@@akarshrastogi3682 oh ok, well maybe we c it the same way then, and dont get me wrong i'm a big steve fan.......flexible, vocal transcription and dbling of zappa's voice and a whole lot more...and my basic whammi technique is from him, but yeah sometimes u know what they say "points for brevity". in terms of hiromi maybe guthrie could be the man (i've suggested it to her), i just think when ur at this level why not push it to the next? there's a lot of language from last century, playing hendrix is one thing, why not be the next one?
