“Perhaps it is no coincidence that my debut album for Warner Classics presents a Franco-American theme,” says pianist Andrew von Oeyen of this programme of works by Saint-Saëns, Ravel and Gershwin. An American (of German and Dutch origin) who trained at New York’s Juilliard School, he lives between Los Angeles and Paris. He is partnered on the album by the PFK Prague Philharmonia under its Music Director and Chief Conductor Emmanuel Villaume - a Frenchman who is very much at home in the USA, as Music Director of the Dallas Opera and as a frequent guest conductor with America’s leading opera companies and orchestras.

Meditative, magical, and expressive
I have never heard anything so beautiful. I like this piece and I have been trying to find this music just for the piano. This young man has put his soul into this piece of music.

This morning, while waiting for the train in Avignon station with my young son, a father played this marvel on the piano in the hall station, for his little daughter ... Many parents stood in front of the piano with their beloved children ... even much younger than mine.
Flowed the tears. Then we all left our children climbing alone the long stairs to the rails, with heavy luggage, because we are not any more allowed to accompany them further ... Also, some elderlies slowly an painfully walked alone on the ramp.
And the music still went on flowing.
Thank you so much sir; such a music playing helps us to live, even and mostly in sad circumstances.

This is truly perfection! This gorgeous piece deserves no less than Andrew von Oeyen's amazing playing.
Several beautiful things to appreciate here at once; the beautiful music itself, composition and interpretation; the miracle of this moment within the Thaïs narrative; the beautiful room and instrument; and the Sacré-Cœur atop Montmartre outside the window. Magical!

I’ve been hearing this music for many years when I was much younger. And I am glad to see Andrew playing this on TH-cam. I’ve have since playing Massenet Meditation over and over repeatedly.just loved it! By the way, I am now near 80 yo in a few months. I just told my daughter who is a good pianist to add Massenet to her collection of piano pieces to play on my life celebrations. So far they’re Ave Maria by Gounod/Bach, Claudine by Maksim Mrvica and of course Massenet. Thank TH-cam for your services!

This piece, composed byJules Massenet rendered masterfully by Andrew is a prayer by itself... I listen to it twice a day during my morning and evening prayers. It deepens meditations on the words of God as He speaks thru the Bible.

Does anyone know where you might be able to find sheet music for this particular arrangement? Every version I've been able to find so far only has single notes in the left hand and I'd rather not have to take the time to listen to and write this one out myself.
