hi andrea! im 15 and am a sophomore and since i could remember I've always wanted to go to medical school for anesthesiology. your videos and very very very helpful on answering all the questions I have. thank you!!!!
I love your closing remark... Medical school it's really fun... kinda... :) Seriously, it's awesome of you to take the time to share and encourage others!
how do you shadow? what happens when you shadow? do you literally just follow the Dr's around and stay with them even during consultation periods with patients?
I lived in Jamaica and for my high school in my class we did business and science. So I did physics, chemistry and biology. And i liked the experimental part I had fun learning what happens when you mix this and do this. But when I got to the math part like I prayed to God to help me lol. I thought physics was harder than chemistry. I was lying to myself!! Chemistry is really hard! Especially in my last year of hs. Like I couldn't figure it out. Especially organic chemistry. I couldn't get polymers and how do you determine if something was alkene or alkane. So in the Caribbean regional exams I thank God that I passed because I swear chemistry killed me. Lol. But being a doctor is something I know is right for me. I was at a hospital today with my aunt for her meetings and I was walking the hallways and seeing all the scrubs and I was happy! I'm determined to do anything to be in the medicine field! So follow your dreams guys!!!!! Make them a reality.
I'm a senior and I want to be a doctor so badly but I wasn't sure how the heck to get there. Your channel has honestly been a godsend. Thank you for posting these videos :)
Hey Andrea! I absolutely love your channel. As a student in a 7 year BS/MD program, its pretty cool seeing someone "at the finish line." Anyway, as someone who loves science and humanitarian work, I have topics I hope you could talk about pertaining to: -Aspects of research during undergrad/med school portion -Degree of research importance and the participation in scientific advancement as a physician -The force of technology and computer literacy in the medical field -Attaining a PHD, or steps to find out if a PHD is right for you -Importance of patient relationship as a doctor -Importance of global and social health participation as a doctor I think it would be awesome if you would pick one (or more) of these! Thanks!
I always love your advice. It's encouraging to hear "You can do it!" instead of "It's really hard and a lot of people don't even get in." Perhaps you could make a video about handling stress? Stress takes the joy out of leaning for me. For instance, next week is my US History midterm, and I completely understand the material, but just knowing that I have a big exam & paper coming up makes me feel unnecessarily stressed. I get so stressed about little things (even silly outlines & assignments) that I can't enjoy other things in my life. If I get this stressed from undergrad, there's no way I can deal with med school! If you have time, some advice would be lovely :)
I agree with all of this advice! So applicable, especially being the best student you can be in high school. This lays a solid foundation for the many years of schooling ahead. :)
Always look forward to watching your videos! Could you do an updated vlog on your residency so far?! I love hearing about your experiences in the hospital. 😊
I love this! Your videos are so reassuring and make me feel good in a lot of the decisions I've made in high school! God willing my dream of getting a degree and going to med school go well for me:)
Thank you so much for making this! I'm getting really interested in becoming a pre-med student, and eventually go to medical school. Your videos are extremely helpful. Can you make a video talking about how you payed for med school/how most students pay for it? I'm guessing LOTS of loans, but what about paying it all of? Is it very stressful?
Hey Andrea! I am about to be a senior in high school this fall and I am freaking out! I just decided to become an obstetrician and I'm trying to find as much in formation as I can. You're videos are really helping! Thank you!
this is really helpful, i was not doing good in my bio class in shopmore year in high school i though the colleges will not expete me becuse of that. But this helps thank so much, keep it up !!!
thank you so much this video! I am currently a junior in high school and have been going back and forth to major pre-med in college and go to medical school, and you just provided with great advice and reassurance on my decision! thank you so much, now I'm going to watch the rest of your videos bc i love them lol
Thank you for posting this it really helped me out, I'm in my sophomore year of high school and medical school has been on my mind for awhile and the class recommendations you made were really helpful. Thanks again your videos are really great.
Your videos are awesome! I'm a high school student that has hopes of attending medical school in the future, and your videos are very helpful. Thank you!
Hi, Andrea! First, I just wanted to say that you are such an awesome role model! Thanks for being so encouraging all the time! Secondly, I wanted to ask if you could make a video about how to become a good medical school candidate, what you did in college, advice for college freshman, stuff like that! Thanks again!!
Thanks so much for sharing your videos! I'm aspiring to go to medical school; I used to go to a magnet high school and was in the allied health program, but now that I made a big move 5 states south I don't have the program at my new school. I still hope to become an anesthesiologist because I LOVE science and it's going to be a challenge because nobody in my family is in the medical field. Keep making vids xx
Thank you sooo much for posting this video it really helped me think about medical school and my life u are my inspiration to achieve my goals. Thank you
Hey thank you very much your videos are changing a life of a student who has been called a stupid and won't do anything in life hope that i'll have the chance to see you in person one day
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Can you do a video about your experience with the MCAT? How you prepared yourself and some techniques for studying. Thank you so much!
My god your videos are so nice! I'm 16 and really thinking about doing medicine. It's really nice to hear your advices, they're so helpful. I will work hard to succeed 😊
Found your channel through my own video on the topic of med school. Although I chose a different path (for now) out of happiness, I can respect your enthusiasm, passion, and dedication. I've seen and met quite a number of med students (and even more med to be's). Many of them look pretty depressed, or dead lol. But some are pretty enthusiastic and normal. You're probably on the higher echelons of the attractive side from the students I have seen so good for you! Who said you cant be smart AND good looking?
Great video 👍 I love how you hit the spots I wanted to hear many don’t. Can you please make a video or give us more info on how medical school is. What classes you take, what you do in med school each year. This would help me a lot 😘 thanks so much for this, this video helped me immensely 🙂
Could you make a video talking about the hours you work as a resident vs a attending and if there's a difference between how many hours a resident works vs a surgical resident? I love ur videos btw! =)
hey Andrea i'm a freshman in high school and want to be a sports medicine physician! I don't consider my self as the smartest kid but I am pretty smart and love science especially biology! I love your videos and really getting a lot from them and what to look forward to in collage!
Some people want to know info on community college to med school. First piece of advice...don't take core subjects at community college such as chemistry(in all areas e.g. general chemistry ,organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry), biology, or physics, and not to forget genetics! I'm not sure about taking upper level math class such as calc I and calc II at a community college. I wouldn't recommend it. You should take electives psyc, sociology, history, anthropology, literature, languages classes, etc. I would also recommended transferring out of community college after 2 semesters so you can get into your main courses, so you can have enough knowledge for the MCAT. This is my experience.
+Gizelle Blanc why do you think this?? wouldn't it be okay to take the general classes like biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics at a community college and get you associates. then transfer to a bigger state university and finish out your harder higher level major classes like for me biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, physiology?
***** This applies to people who go to university and take their sciences at a CC. Med school will think of it as an easy way out of "university level courses or upper level courses". As far as getting you Associates...I don't see a problem. I went on a forum from student doctor.com and a guy said him taking courses at CC was brought up in his interview.
Andrea you are so amazing. Love each and every one of your videos. PS) I am a senior and have begun using your note taking method.... guess what? They are doing me good!
OMG ANDREA! Im from Brazil, and i have this dream, of going to med school in Us, I was so lost at this, and your video was so clarifying, thanks so much for it! i hope u'll became an amazing doctor, and thanks so much for the video! i subscribed (for sure) cause your videos are saving my life! love you, and thanks again for everything ❤️
Andrea- You are a great inspiration to me! I do have a question for you. During undergrad and med school, did you work? Also, I think you should make a video about a day in the life of you! It would be great to see how you manage your day to day routine!
***** Hi! I was a tour-guide in college, but that didn't make a lot of money. I also taught an MCAT class for Kaplan, but other than that I didn't work. I didn't work in medical school at all.
Hi Andrea! I'm a high school senior who will be attending college this fall and I was wondering: 1. When would be the best time to begin studying for the MCAT ? 2. During college I would like to shadow a physician, but how should I ask them that I want to shadow them? 3. What advice would you give to those interviewing for med school or for internships related to medicine? I know you are incredibly busy and all, but any response would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance :D
Thank you so much for taking more time to inspire; I ALWAYS enjoy your videos! I have a few questions/video topic(s) that, for obvious background reasons, you won't have first hand experience with, but i'd love to hear your opinions on. I am a nursing student but I kind of have a goal to become a doctor. The reason that I am studying nursing is because, although I had a wonderful family growing up, there was pretty much "0" emphasis put on education and frankly, I had no clue if I could do it. Well, after I got married and I timidly expressed to my sweet husband that i'd like to get an education (he has his MBA), he's been nothing but supportive and has pushed me take this on. I feel like the world has opened up to me, and now that i've started nursing school I don't feel like i'll stop when I graduate with my RN. One area that I'd love to get your opinion on is the path that one could/should take after receiving their BSN. As far as I know, I can't go straight from a nursing degree to Medical School, but I know there are other options (DNP, PhD), i'm just not super familiar with them (and as I saw one commenter say, the "advisors" aren't always the best). Any advise would be appreciated:) I hope that made sense! Thanks again for sharing your experiences!
I love your videos! Congrats on everything you've accomplished so far. I'm a sophomore in college. Could you please do a video about the whole financial stuff. About how to pay for med school and any scholarships that you might have gotten while you were in med school? THANKS!
Hi Andrea! Your videos are really informative, so thank you for making them. Do you think you could make a video about your experience of the medical school application process, writing secondaries, and preparing for the medical school interviews? Thank you!
I'd really like to know about how payment works for medical school--like from where do you get loans and all that stuff. Maybe talk about credit and how that works for a medical school student. Also, what about expenses like living expenses while in medical school? From where comes that money? Thanks!
Hi andrea !! .. U r a great doc , Great explainer , Thx for everything u taught me about medical schools !!! ..I am ur fan and will watch all ur vids .. thx!! ♡♥
I'm not exactly sure if I want to be in the medical field(I'm thinking about engineering too) just yet so I'm going to be volunteering at the hospital soon so that I could feel it out and hopefully I'll make up my mind. It's funny u mention ap Chem. I'm a junior and I'm taking that right now and unfortunately I don't have a good teacher. He doesn't explain chemistry thoroughly enough at all so I have to learn from outside sources like khan academy & Bozeman science. Also my brother majored in bio so he really knows chemistry and he has really helped me out by tutoring me! I love chemistry ( the subject itself not the class) and I'm so determined on getting a 5 on my exam good luck to anyone else taking ap Chem!
i finished ap chem this past school year. i didnt do well but i liked the class and i like science. i was lucky enough to have a good teacher. im going into senior year in August. i want to go to med school but i plan on majoring in engineering(biomed). so if you would like to do that, you could get a bachelors in engineering and go to med school. just make sure you have the pre reqs with that major(if not you will have to take those classes as well. it might just be some extra science coarses) my choice of major being biomed already gives me the majority of my pre reqs for med school besides about 2 classes. but you could kind of have it both ways. the bachelors in engineering can be a fall back.
Can you make a comprehensive video on what you did to prepare for the Mcat immediately prior to taking the test and then during your undergrad? Also, what would you have done if Med school did not work out?
I love your videos! I was wondering if you could share some things that you specifically did in college such as community service, research, and different involvements that gave yourself an advantage when applying to medical school?
Hi Andrea, I just wanted to thank you for being so inspiring. I'm in grade 12 and hope to become a pediatrician and I live watching your videos. It makes med school not seem like only a dream but it can turn into a reality. Could you maybe post videos talking about the cost or if you worked part-time to pay for med school?
I wish I had known this when I started my undergrad... I came out of high school feeling like a superstar. I felt like I was on top of the world and I thought I could breeze through university like I did high school... but nope, the first 2 years of undergrad were horrible... I didn't know I wanted to be a doctor until my 3rd year.. so here I am staying for my 6th year of undergrad...everything is going fine; however, it's getting a bit depressing.. my friends have already graduated and I feel like I am losing energy....... but watching your videos gives me hope that maybe medicine is for me too :)
crimnsonfury I'm sorry you're going through that! Your determination will only make you a better and more knowledgable person- you will be an amazing doctor if you know how to persevere through extra years of school when you don't "have" to :-)
I really want to be a doctor but I'm insanely lazy when it comes to school...I never study or do homework mostly when it comes to math and English. I cannot stand the courses but I enjoy my science and I do very well in them :/ it's really hard to try your best in Something you absolutely cannot stand which concerns me for getting into a good university. I know I would do better in university because I will be learning stuff I am interested in!
There's always a class or two that we cannot stand. If you want to become a doctor, you're gonna have to swallow the pill and start working in all of them.
Please bring a surgeon on your channel for an interview. I would like to be a cardio thoracic surgeon and I would like to hear what it would take to become one. Or any surgeon in general! Thank you! I love your videos!
Hi Andrea. Thanks for the video. It is really helpful to know how is going to med school before you get in. I would like to know which specialties have short years of residency and which ones have the most. And how is the working schedule once you can start working. Some on us are not sure which speciality we like and this can be very helpful for your next video.
Andrea, thank you for these kinds of videos! I am a junior in high school that is interested in medicine and your videos really help put me on the right track. I am also taking AP bio this year and hopefully AP chem my senior year. Do you consider it normal to want a career in medicine even if you're not naturally great at math? I'm guessing if you study enough to succeed anyway it doesn't matter, but what is your opinion?
Hi Andrea, I am 15 and now a sophomore in high school! Since before I could remember I've dreamed of being a doctor because of my interest in science and I wanted to thank you for the amazing advise you've given me! You have made me believe in myself which was greatly needed especially now that I'm in high school! This past year was my first year of high school and the first time I doubted my ability to go to med school! I hopped right into honors courses and ended up with a HORRIBLE teacher and received a 3.6 GPA😭😭That was my first time getting below a 4.0 and sadly my sister told me that I could never get into the college I am striving for with a 3.6 grade point average. While watching your videos it encouraged me to give 110% in this upcoming school year and realized what I need to do differently in these upcoming school years. I have one question for you because I cannot get it off my mind!! I wanted to know if I should take AP European History this year? History is not my biggest interest but I have heard that it teaches amazing study habits and prepares you for upcoming college/ AP courses. I talked to the teacher and she seems very sweet but extremely strict!!! I know colleges look greatly at your GPA which is why I am taking this class so I can have a higher GPA! (I also know they look at the all around package: extra curricular, community involvement, SAT/ACT Ect..) I'm worried I'm over working myself because I'm also taking honors algebra 4/ calc prep, AVID, AP European History, chemistry, honors Spanish 4, and English. To restate my question I just wanted to know if taking APEC is a good choice or not for the path of medicine? I'm so sorry I wrote so much I just wanted to give you a pm idea of my background as a student!:) Thank you, Alexi
Alexi Trotter Hey, I know I am not Andrea, but I am applying to medical school and also am an AVID tutor and thought maybe I could help. Overall, I would say it really depends on how much you can handle. I had friends in HS that could take all honors (weighted) classes and did really well. I had other friends who took all honors classes, couldn't handle the rigor, and received some B's. Then there was me, I took on average about 2 honors classes, received all A's and had the same GPA as my friends who had all honors and received some B's. So there's that perspective to consider. About the content of your courses, medical schools really focus on your college classes. When applying they do not inquire about your high school classes, GPA, and don't ask for HS transcripts. Mostly, your high school experience is to get into the college you want. I wouldn't stress too much over your GPA now, you have time to get it up. :) Another thing I have learned is that you do so much better in honor classes when you're interested in the material. I think Andrea makes great points to volunteer in HS and to make sure you enjoy school. So to take the class is really your choice, I hope I helped a little, and good luck with everything. The path to medical school is long, but totally worth it- don't ever give up on your dreams!
+Vanessa Turner thank you so much for your great advice I know I had a lot of questions😂 I stress a lot about school and I'm glad to hear the advice you were able to give me!
You should make a video about the requirements to get into medical school regarding how much volunteering, clinical, shadowing, leadership, ect that will make you the most competitive applicant. Or just how much you did vs your friends in med school.
Hello Dr. Tooley, I've done a lot of volunteer work in hospitals and doctor offices in my junior and senior year of high school. I was just wondering whether I should include that in my application for medical school or should I just strictly add on the volunteer work I did in college. Thank you so much for your time! I have been watching your videos since I was in high school and you have certainly helped me along the way!
this video was so helpful. I'm a freshman in high school and i am so interested in becoming a doctor. i was wondering what is the MCAT? and also do you know the average age that kids can volunteer. because i would love to volunteer in a hospital but i don't know how old i have to be? such an awesome video. i subbed!
FashionAplenty I always try to be grateful! When I get tired of studying, I remember how lucky I am that I GET to study medicine- it's such a privilege! I get to go to school and learn without worrying about my safety, feeding my family, etc. It really helps!!
can you please please please make a video elaborating on the financial aspects of pursuing a medical career? I know the simple answer is "loans", but could you perhaps elaborate on the process?
SO GLAD I SAW THIS TODAY !! I'm registering for my high school senior year classes right now and this helped so much :) I couldn't decide whether I should take AP Bio or Ap Chem because they both won't fit onto my schedule, but i'm gonna go with Ap Bio because i've been told by many that the AP chem teacher at my school is terrible. I took honors chem this year, but if I don't take Ap Chem before college will It be a struggle, even with the basics I learned in Honors Chem? Your videos are a blessing !!! :D
nemo I didn't take AP chem and I'll be honest- gen chem in college was challenging for me. I think it will help you out in college a lot, but you don't absolutely need to take it.
I loved your video! Do u think you can go into depth with sports in highschool? Personally I know i will not have time to do sports in highschool, will that affect my chances getting into med school? I volunteer at a hospital, and im planning on doing that for the rest of my high school years.
Hi Andrea! I'm 16 and I want to go to Medical School. Next year is my final year of school and my mom just got diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to try my best next year and try and still be good at school, (im pretty decent) I just don't know how, when I'm going to be so stressed. Any advice? Thanks so much :) you remind me a little of me haha I love watching your videos x
Hi Andrea! I want to thank you very much for the time and the effort you invest in your videos. I feel lucky that I found your channel! I have watched some of your videos, and I plan to watch all of them. I am a pre-med; I currently study in a community college. I know that you double majored in English literature and chemistry. I wonder if double majoring has any advantage to getting into medical school. Why would someone consider a double major? Is it a plus?
Nabil Assal I think double majoring isn't a huge advantage, but it definitely adds to your resume. I think people consider a double major when they have multiple subjects that they really want to focus their studies on.
I always love all of yout videos. Its great that you take your time outside of work to help others be successful as where you are today. You're an awesome inspiration. what is the schedule of a doctor like? Do you think you'll have time for family? I know its possible but isnt it also hard?
Susan Kwon Schedules are super different depending on what type of medicine you practice. If you are a neurosurgeon, you will work longer hours and be on call and have to do surgery overnight sometimes. If you are a dermatologist, you will generally just work office hours and no weekends. It all depends! Even if you chose a demanding field, you can still make time for family! You can only work half-time, split call with partners in your group, etc. There are women with children in all fields of medicine- we can do it!
Hello! I'm really glad I found you!! I want to go to med school and soon I will be a freshman in college. Do you recommend any books I can read that will prepare me a bit more for med school?
Hi andrea, I'm really thinking of going to medical school but people say I'm really young to start studying and thinking of what colleges or universities would be best for me. I am 15 and am going to go to 10th grade this coming august and I'm thinking of taking medical classes to see if I'm really going to like to go to med school. Here are some questions that I have: 1.) What do you need to know before going to med school? 2.) Are tv shows like greys anatomy a good source of learning medicine or is it all propaganda? 3.) Do you have to go to college first or can you just jump ahead to university? 4.) What are really good classes to take in high school to help with learning anatomy? 5.) What are the educational steps to become a neurosurgeon? Thank you for all your videos and advice, Adrianne.p
Love your videos and advice! Any advice for "non-tradition" med school applicants? I majored in Communications and got a full time job right out of college. I'm only a couple years out of college, and have been really interested in medicine. Thinking about going for a post-bac. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :)
And with regards to AP classes, in May there are exams that if you pass (depending on your score) you can get college credit hours and you will not have to take that class again. So my freshman year I took the AP human geography exam and I got a 4 so now I have 3 credit hours and have one less elective to take at any transferable college or university.
Hi Andrea, I love all your videos they help me so much!! I was wondering what I could do as far as studying goes... I'm a junior in high school and I haven't found a really good way to study. I have also watched your video on active studying vs. passive. I am taking some hard classes such as anatomy/physiology. what is the bests way in your opinion I could study!?
Hi Andrea, thanks for your insights on med school and preparations towards it! I'm currently working towards a career in dietetics, but I've been thinking about attending med school lately. Do you have any tips for studying for the MCAT? And also, did you work part-time while in med school or not? With the cost of attending medical school it baffles me how medical students cover their daily expenses! Thanks for you time!
What I've been looking for, which I haven't really been able to find anywhere, regards what all is taught and done in medical school. For instance, what all do you learn? What all is expected/required of you in medical school? Also, medical school (and college too, of course) are both very expensive. I live in Mississippi and aspiring for a career in psychiatry isn't exactly the lightest career path monetarily speaking. Both of my parents are both middle class workers and there's no way that they could pay for my way through school. Currently I'm in my Junior year of High School and I'm aiming for a part-time job so I can go ahead and start saving for college, but I'm not sure what else that I should do in the way of money. I average around 3.4-3.7 with my GPA (Spanish I and Spanish II were like nuclear bombs to my GPA) and I play in the marching band, so scholarships shouldn't be too terribly hard to find. Not to mention, non-academic/sports scholarships are pretty common as well. I'm thinking that I could definitely get a full-ride through university, but as far as paying for medical school, what should I do? Obviously working while going to school is an option, but are there any grants or scholarships (possibly things similar to scholarships) that I could get to help alleviate some of that financial pressure? Because otherwise, I see myself having 7-10 years worth of debt to repay. Anyone's answer is welcome, I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks.
Hi Andrea! Your videos are so great and you are such an inspiration for me. I am a freshman in high school, and i am thinking about going into med school. I am a straight A student, but only because i study a lot. Does it take only a naturally smart person to be a doctor or are good grades and good study habits enough? I definitely have the self-motivation, but i don't know if I'm smart enough. Thanks in advance!
Andrea, regarding your method of study, i was wondering, do you write your notes on the whiteboard right after making them? also, do you make the questions write after making your notes and answer them or do you reserve this for when exams are coming up? Also if you wouldnt mind could you make a video about how you study throughout the year compared to how you study say about a month before exams? (sorry i know these questions have nothing to do with this video) Thank you in advance :)
Hi! Thanks for your comment! I could probably do another video about this! I do all kinds of different things. If I feel like a lecture is very memorization based (like long lists of diseases or the names of all the amino acids) I will make a question sheet right after lecture. If it's more of a conceptual lecture (like reactions in organic chemistry or the hemoglobin saturation curve) I will make a note sheet that very neatly details everything in an organized way so I can refer to it and immediately know what's important. Then, I will practice writing everything on the whiteboard. If I feel like the lectures not worth making a study sheet (or if I just don't feel like it) I will only study with the whiteboard. I will just take my notes from class and the powerpoint from class and re-write it on the board, step back, look at it, erase it, and try to write it again. Hope this helps!!
Andrea Tooley Thank you very much yes it is helpful! Just one more question, do you then just read when it comes closer to exams? also do you keep going over stuff you did, say the previous weeks so you dont forget? sorry for the million questions :) btw would really appreciate if you decided to do a video about it :)
hi andrea! im 15 and am a sophomore and since i could remember I've always wanted to go to medical school for anesthesiology. your videos and very very very helpful on answering all the questions I have. thank you!!!!
grace sullivan I
how’s it going now that you’re in college?
Did you go to medical school ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
that’s literally me
I love your closing remark... Medical school it's really fun... kinda... :) Seriously, it's awesome of you to take the time to share and encourage others!
Byron Anderson hahaha Thanks!!
how do you shadow? what happens when you shadow? do you literally just follow the Dr's around and stay with them even during consultation periods with patients?
I lived in Jamaica and for my high school in my class we did business and science. So I did physics, chemistry and biology. And i liked the experimental part I had fun learning what happens when you mix this and do this. But when I got to the math part like I prayed to God to help me lol. Hey Andrea! I absolutely love your channel. As a student in a 7 year BS/MD program, its pretty cool seeing someone "at the finish line." Anyway, as someone who loves science and humanitarian work, I have topics I hope you could talk about pertaining to:
-Aspects of research during undergrad/med school portion
-Degree of research importance and the participation in scientific advancement as a physician
-The force of technology and computer literacy in the medical field
-Attaining a PHD, or steps to find out if a PHD is right for you
-Importance of patient relationship as a doctor
-Importance of global and social health participation as a doctor
I think it would be awesome if you would pick one (or more) of these! Thanks!
“ medical school is fun.. kinda :)”
* starts to sweat uncontrollably *
I always love your advice. It's encouraging to hear "You can do it!" instead of "It's really hard and a lot of people don't even get in." Perhaps you could make a video about handling stress? Stress takes the joy out of leaning for me. For instance, next week is my US History midterm, and I completely understand the material, but just knowing that I have a big exam & paper coming up makes me feel unnecessarily stressed. I get so stressed about little things (even silly outlines & assignments) that I can't enjoy other things in my life. If I get this stressed from undergrad, there's no way I can deal with med school! I agree with all of this advice! So applicable, especially being the best student you can be in high school. This lays a solid foundation for the many years of schooling ahead. :)
Always look forward to watching your videos! Could you do an updated vlog on your residency so far?! I love hearing about your experiences in the hospital. 😊
***** Sure!!
Check out my 2 videos with the white coat investor! th-cam.com/video/dF_CdKDrfXE/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/EkxEDoGgc9o/w-d-xo.html
Thanks again your videos are really great.
bellanessiecullen610 did u ever go to med school?
Your videos are awesome! I'm a high school student that has hopes of attending medical school in the future, and your videos are very helpful. Thank you!
Hi, Andrea! First, I just wanted to say that you are such an awesome role model! Thanks for being so encouraging all the time! Secondly, I wanted to ask if you could make a video about how to become a good medical school candidate, what you did in college, advice for college freshman, stuff like that! Thanks again!!
Could you make a video of how you studied for MCAT?
Love your videos and your blog! You're such a great inspiration to study hard and be fit!
I love your videos and I always look forward to them! Please, never stop making them!
I wish you the best for everything. Hugs from Italy!
WillYouLaugh Thank you!
Thanks for your advice and i hope your advice helpe me in my future
IM A HOOSIER TOO! I can't believe you're from Indiana. I love all your videos, they're so inspiring😁😁
Gizelle Blanc My advisor told me the same thing.... except for the 2 semesters( I am finishing 2 years at my CC, then transfer to GMU)....
Hi Andrea!
I'm a high school senior who will be attending college this fall and I was wondering:
Dinah Nahid hey girly! Give us an update! I’m starting college in the fall and want some advice.
Update 😭😭
She looks like Perrie Edwards
I absolutely adore you! Could you make an in depth video of what you did in college? Or what you wish you had done that you would recommend...
I LOVE YOUR videos. So happy I found your channel!!!!!
Thanks a lot Andrea, you made life easier for me
I love your videos!
Thank you!
wow, I really loved this such a help. thank you
I'd really like to know about how payment works for medical school--like from where do you get loans and all that stuff. Maybe talk about credit and how that works for a medical school student. Also, what about expenses like living expenses while in medical school? From where comes that money? Thanks!
Byron Cox literally federal loans and all that stuff, everything about your life is financed and on loans
Also, what would you have done if Med school did not work out?
ok wow I really needed the last minute of this video
Hey! It’s been a couple of years, could you please talk on if you got into your college and how you are doing?
PA vs. MD
great explanation, thanks!
I'm so sorry I wrote so much I just wanted to give you a pm idea of my background as a student!:)
Thank you, Alexi
You're videos are very helpful!!
Hey Andrea, I was wondering what degree would be best for a career as an OB/Gyn before med school?
I love your videos!! You're awesome!!
You're Awesome Andrea!!!
Versatilechik So are you!!
I'm a freshman in high school and i am so interested in becoming a doctor. i was wondering what is the MCAT? and also do you know the average age that kids can volunteer. because i would love to volunteer in a hospital but i don't know how old i have to be? such an awesome video. i subbed!
Andrea, youre so awesome! I love your videos, I die waiting for them!!! anyways, thanks so much!!!!!!
Thank you this was really helpful!!
How did you maintain a good gpa ? And how did you prepare for the interviews ?
thank you so much. your a life saver
thanks for the video.
for all those who commented here I wish you well in you exams
How do you keep a happy, positive outlook especially when the going gets tough in med. school?
FashionAplenty I always try to be grateful! When I get tired of studying, I remember how lucky I am that I GET to study medicine- it's such a privilege! I get to go to school and learn without worrying about my safety, feeding my family, etc. It really helps!!
Andrea Tooley Thank you so much for answering! You are so right! I'm going to reread your words when the going gets tough :)
can you please please please make a video elaborating on the financial aspects of pursuing a medical career? I know the simple answer is "loans", but could you perhaps elaborate on the process?
Thanks so much! Very encouraging!
are you a doctor yet lol
I think you should do a video talking more about your dual degree, what it is, why you got it, and the pros and cons of it.
Andrea Tooley Thank you for responding !! :) I think AP Bio will be the better path for me, i'll maybe try to learn so AP chem online over the summer
I love your videos you are always so helpful.!!:-)
Thank you! I appreciate your reply :)
I might as well double major in Spanish and either chemistry or biology. :-)
Thank you so much andrea :)
Andrea, you are absolutely stunning!
Here are some questions that I have:
1.) What do you need to know before going to med school?
2.) Are tv shows like greys anatomy a good source of learning medicine or is it all propaganda?
3.) Do you have to go to college first or can you just jump ahead to university?
4.) What are really good classes to take in high school to help with learning anatomy?
5.) What are the educational steps to become a neurosurgeon?
Thank you for all your videos and advice,
Adrianne.p
Love your videos and advice! Any advice for "non-tradition" med school applicants? I majored in Communications and got a full time job right out of college. I'm only a couple years out of college, and have been really interested in medicine. Thinking about going for a post-bac. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :)
I love your glasses!!!
Thank you so much for the enlightenment ,you really helped me .
You are amazing!! this helped me so much! :)
Katelyn Haberkorn I think the best ways to study are the ones I mention in my "How to study" videos. Good luck!
I love your videos!!!
thanks very helpful video
Thanks.
Hi Andrea! Could you make a video about why you chose ophthalmology? Thanks :)
Payton Wills If you're getting straight A's in high school and college, you can definitely smart enough! Even if you have to study a lot :-)
How do you go about shadowing?
Andrea, regarding your method of study, i was wondering, do you write your notes on the whiteboard right after making them? also, do you make the questions write after making your notes and answer them or do you reserve this for when exams are coming up? Also if you wouldnt mind could you make a video about how you study throughout the year compared to how you study say about a month before exams? (sorry i know these questions have nothing to do with this video)
Thank you in advance :)
How about community college to med school?
