I don’t have the load bars on my site yet I’ll have them in a few days. These are expedition grade made in South Africa load bars from big country 4x4 they are much stronger than Thule or Yakima bars

Love it, seems like plenty of power with just the 2.4 l and auto transmission. Love the front ARB bumper. Is the roof top tent good for cold weather camping? Do you have a shoo that can work on these LJ78 and do modifications like the intercooler?
It’s the same bumper for the narrow nose hd 70 series you have to cut it on the ends alittle and drill different mounting holes but it’s not bad at all
I'm surprised it doesn't have rear floating axles, must be hilux diff in the rear. Does it use 80 series front radius arms in the rear suspension? like the 3.0 KZ engine import we get in AUS. All our aus spec 78s have leaf springs still but floating axles
I went from a 1991 fj80 to a 1993 kzj78 ! I love mine over the 80. especially the diesel mpg of the 1kzte. I am guessing yours has the 2lte engine. are you On the mud forums? I just put those same rims on mine as well. I went for a smaller 235 85 16 size. Also I am guessing you had to modify the arb bumper to work?
I am on mud at ozarkcruiser as a supporting vendor. The 235/85 16 is a wonderful size. Mine did have the 2lte in it. I kept the arb bumper off of it when I sold it I have it for sale if you are interested. I just purchased a Hzj75 troopy so the 78 and the 80 got sold. I miss the 78 more than the 80 but I think the troopy will fill all my wants

Its a pretty cool vehicle. They were a little out of my price range when I was looking to replace my 80. I May end up trading or selling my 78 for a fj40 or one of the 70 series trucks at some point. The fj40 was always the dream vehicle for me. But for now I am loving the 78 and you cant beat the mpg for a land cruiser.
Congrats on the 78, I just recently got a 1996 KZJ78 RHD Turbo Diesel. I daily drive it around town and have done a few trips with it out west, loving it so far! What did you spec for the snorkel when ordering? I didn't know safari had a part number for the prado?
The narrow nose 70 series bumper is what you need to use. You have to cut the side ings on the inside to clear the front fenders on the prado and also redrill holes in front bumper for mounts. It’s not a hard mod

Thanks yes the roof top tents do great in cold weather as well. We can do intercooler install at our shop ozark overland outfitters

The lj 78 has hilux axles and coil springs and radius arms front and rear
