Thank you for doing the review on a 3039 r I have the same tractor 2018 model. Yes I'm going to agree with complaints you have (some of). But overall I love the tractor and would buy it again. I did rent some other brands and they did not even come close to this tractor. I like some of these attachments or add-ons you put on. I'd like to have grab handles for the back cab Post. Yeah and I guess at 5:11 grill guard work pretty good cuz I need to do something too when I'm running my gravel ? Jeanette the function running all the way to the front for the gravel also runs my belly dick so it's a little aggravating trying to get everything switched around plugged up the way it has to be to switch to the belly deck from a grapple. You're right they needed to put some more ScV hookups on the back. Well I'll go for now keep up the good work and reviews for the Tractor.
Great honest review. I recently bought a new 3039r open station. I wanted the heavier axles and increased lift capacity on the loader over the 3038e. Now that I have some hours on it I can honestly say that it has way more power than my 3025e but if I could have a do over, I would go with the 3038e. I don’t need all frills like cruise control and auto throttle… the loader control gets in the way if I get on or off the right side, I hate the delay in motion when I hit the pedals. I love that it’s a much better built machine but don’t think it was worth the extra $8k over the 3038e.
There are definitely some huge gaps in feature execution on the 3039R. On paper…it’s super advanced…and has been for many years. But the practical and actual use of the machine does seem to fall short of the JD reputation imo.
Hello and Good Day! I watched your video with much interest. I have a 3032E a 4044M and a 3039R Cab. If I had to chose one to keep it would be the Cab. The 2R/3E tractor with the 2 speed transmission is very smooth and quite honestly I have never looked for a lower gear with that tractor. The 4M is very stabile and smooth to run really enjoy using that tractor on bigger jobs. Why would I keep the cab? Hot summers and cold winters cutting firewood and plowing snow. Need a place to cool down and be warm when needed is awesome. Quirks of the cable operation well I have grown to get used to it and figured out the nuance and make it work. Very capable tractor really like my 3039R and I did agree with many of your talking points. But ease of operation goes to the open station tractor where on and off constantly does play into many things. My dealer has been very good and work with them quite well and that really was the reason I have Green. The other dealers Orange, Red-Orange, Red-Gray, and Blue. In my area well if they were nicer and had better reputations might have had a few sales. Thank You for your review!
I love green. But, in this size I would prefer a Kubota. Deere just nickel and dime a bit too much for my liking on this series. At this price point I think it’s reasonable to expect a decent three point and operator controls with no slop.
I agree. I think the 3 series is actually one of the poorest values in the JD line-up. The biggest hot buttons for me were in the video. I think about trading it almost every time I use it.
I had a 5min blurb about it in the first draft of this video and I removed it. The initial stages of the purchase experience sucked. Then I got a good salesman and it was much better. The after sale support from sales has been a joke. Service has always been B- or higher. Which is acceptable to me.
Yeah it’s sad bc I really like my tractor, but support has sucked. The turnover rate has been crazy at least @ my UAT. My next will probably be massy or kubota.
@Tools-Tested I don’t know if I can not have a John Deere lol. I think I may be a tractor snob! If I wasn’t….I think I’d have purchased the New Holland or the Kioti.
I see you have turf tires on it. My dealer doesn't order them with turf tires, so I'd have to buy another set. They don't listen to what the customer wants.

Belly Deck
Can you do a review of all the switches/adjustments on the 3039 Seat? I can’t find a button description anywhere!!
I’ll be doing an update on this video pretty soon. The two year review will have more of those details.

Thank you for your thoughts! I still like my 3039R. Although…if they ever come out with this cab on a 2038R…that’s what I’m buying!
I think the non-cab model has hydraulic controls rather than cables???
They they couldn't do backhoe with a cab. Did you run an adaptor plate?
It has a factory 375A backhoe option with a full subframe. Not sure about your question. I did buy mine with a backhoe and it’s seen in the video.
Love my 3039r
If you had to pick one thing you loved most about it…what would that be?
@@DemoDad101 comfort and ease of all functions with plenty of power for its size. I can maneuver it in tight situations even with cab
I also noticed how insanely maneuverable this was. It was similar to my 1025R but so much more capable!
You're absolutely correct about the loader joystick. Horrible, horrible design. There is no way to "finesse" anything.

Real question is, how has it been dealing with UAT… my experience hasn’t been good.

That’s crazy. I really like these tires. They’re excellent in the snow.
Overpriced junk ! How many pesos ?
Not sure. I’m in the USA so everything is in dollars for me. You can visit John Deere’s website for current pricing.
