There is one important aspect missing.... you can not grow in wrong environment.... in my career in the past I tried to show proactivity by taking managerial responsibility but I was requested to not try to do anything beyond my designation... it takes a good leader to recognize and promote another leader...

I was told that only child which cries gets milk. But I didn't know howto cry or did not like crying. I thought my boss shouldknow or assess me what are my capabilities, what is my output, what is my performance, what is personality and what is my weakness. If he can do his job impartially, I should get what I deserve. Am I wrong thinking this way?

Though this is a old video but i can say one thing based on my experience that if you really want grow to become VP SVP or CxO role (i am not talking about xyz manager role here which i dont think is an actual growth) you have to be a good seller that means get into sales role. All things ends here. Sales, Marketing and revenue generation. Don't expect any movement in your career by completing 100's of technical, domain, functional certifications. You may keep changing jobs but never be a VP or SVP in a top MNCs. This is applicable for service based companies as i dont have experience for product companies!

Let me tell u one secret to grow in mnc's. Be a part of a lobby or if u naturally belong to that lobby it's a huge plus. Like in Delhi NCR here MNCs are ruled by Punjabi people like Bajaj, Chopra's, Kapoor etc. Most of these Punjabi people are actually from Lahore Pakistan and moved to india during partition and they normally live in Tilak nagar, Rajouri garden but over the period of time these people have captured whole NCR MNCs and they are in top positions and there team generally buildup of same set of lahoris Punjabi people or Indian Punjabi . So if ur Punjabi or Lahori Punjabi it's a huge plus for you otherwise act like Punjabi and join there group. This logic might look stupid but people in Delhi NCR know this thing. And once u become part of this group there is no stopping.

When you are working great doing good in current role no escalation its ok. No promotion no ratings its ok next time will see. Actually we have to fight for everything but too it's ok. Let's move on. If you're satisfied then only go further otherwise be a good skilled workforce where no one can beat you for some years, because as time change

Work life balance stays intact, one gets to learn something of their choice (stock market in my case) and slowly and steadily one can plan their financial independence and move away from the job that they don't like. I am a minimalist so it also helps in saving major chunk of my salary.

    I fully disagree.
Actually trying to do something extra is often counter productive because your own role has enough demands and besides nobody likes you getting into their area.
If you are doing well in your current role you will grow.

Without correct remuneration leadership role has no value. It only add burden to his life. According to me adding additional responsibilities adds no value without proper remuneration even he is capable to do that leadership role. We all working for money. Company management only see their benefit not benefit of the employees. Do startup and put same the same effort in your startup company or in your own business you can grow financially.and personally your staus will increase.

Sir, what all u r saying is text book garbage. In reality we see chamchagiri works in most cases. I have seen pretty girls - who are dumbos are given good hikes. This I hv seen in my project happening. So, most of the times, the things you told are pure trash. 😁😁. It all depends on who is ur boss, who are ur colleagues, what are the environment etc...etc...

I don't believe. This all is good in text book...real life i far different. Its again depending on company environment and your boss.

How about offline? Are you expected to see or receive messages after work hours? Once in a while for some critical scenario is fine but otherwise it should be offline, isn't it?

In most of the IT service companies, promotion doesn't happen based on skills and experience. They use that as a reason not to give it. Its mostly based on personnel rapo and other factor's. Example: On last working day, company tells, Can you stay back we will give you promotion. "Overnight promotion". its joke.
