I guess none of you guys listened to Bumrah interview after MOM. He said that the pitch had become much easier after 1st half of play, so Pakistan got better pitch to bat on. Which makes India's bowling efforts seem that much more heartening.

What a comeback! All praise to Bumrah. Pakistan had over a 98% chance of winning through 12 overs, needing just 48 runs from 48 balls. And yet, they lost. Hardik's confidence has returned, and he's back in form. Pant's wicket-keeping was spot on. Siraj and Arshdeep's antics while batting at the end made all the difference 😂

I am surprised no expert has pointed out how light and mellow the celebrations were from India, especially from someone like Virat who is usually very aggressive when fielding in crunch games. I think they have learnt from the 2023 world cup that the more hyped up they get, eventually when the loss comes, the higher is the fall off the cliff. It’s better to build gently and be in the present. It’s a bit like the difference between how Manchester City and Arsenal competed in the Premier League. Arsenal were very emotional and celebrated each win like a trophy, whereas City just went about doing their job professionally, no hassle and no running around after every victory.

Im surprised Zak, DK, and Harsha didn’t talk about how the Indian bowlers and Rohit used the wind to their advantage. The slower bowlers bowled the wind. That meant batsmen had to risk lofted shots into the wind. The wind was bowling from the north west towards south east.

I was at this match. Bumrah’s 2nd spell was the difference. I think what you are all ignoring is that NY grounds are very soft early in the summer, especially when it rains as the surface under the drop in pitch is clay. We play on these clay wickets with jute mats on top and the batting is always easier when the sun is out. Pakistan literally got to play with say like a 40 run handicap advantage by not batting under overcast conditions and they still could not manage it because Bumrah and Siraj were out of Pakistan’s league.

Pakistan needed 47 runs of 47 balls with 8 wickets in hand, they scored only 40 runs for 5 wickets in those 47 balls!
Pakistan score : 73-2 @ 12.1 overs to 113-7 in 20 overs!
Pant got very lucky playing aggressively, Credit to Indian bowlers and Pakistan left everyone speechless with a game that should have been impossible to lose!
Pakistan on verge of getting knocked out, England can very much get knocked out, NZ playing a knockout game on 13th against an in form West Indies. Taking no credit from these centuries, but what matters is on a world stage when team needs , even a standout 60 to 70 under pressure is what makes a team champion. This obsession of bilateral wins and personal milestones will be a never ending story in india. Gambhirs 75 in t20 final and 97 in 2011 finals are much much much better than sky's bilateral 100s.
Unfortunately sky in world stage except for the 66 odd against SA in Perth has nothing to boast about. He has skills but that attitude of playing on a big stage under pressure to get the crown like an average aussie is never there.

Great victory. Unbelievable execution from bowlers. Batters need to re consider the approach. It's a good thing to be attacking in T20, but there is a fine line to being stupid. Rohit, Virat, Pant, Sky, Axar all got out hitting when it was not needed. Rohit himself said 140 was a very good score but it looked like we were going for 180-190. I do believe we have the right team, right combination to do very well apart from dube.

Regarding zaheer khan sir's 70 plus innings batting at number 11. He was the unbeaten batsman in India's epic 2nd innings in the Kolkata test 2001 vs Australia and also in Team India's 2002 natwest final victory. How can these big innings by tail enders be repeated or why the 70 plus innings at no.11 couldn't be repeated? Do tail enders get enough practice in the nets? Request insights from the same panel. Situation for Pakistan is very similar to the last world cup, they lost to Netherlands initially and also to India and then they made a comeback afterwards only to look at Netherlands to beat South Africa, which they did, and went all the way to the final and almost winning it . Had stokes not been there and Shaheen being fit , story must have been different.

Wouldnt hurt India to try Sanju at 4, replacing Dube and push axar down in the order in the next 2 matches. It would ensure the team isn't disturbed too much too. Dube got into the team as an all rounder. He isnt considered as an extra bowling option with axar in the team. Also he has failed against spin in the middle overs, one thing he was supposed to be good at.
Great win for India, credit to our bowlers. However, why aren't we discussing areas for improvement for India ? I have some questions below:
Why did we send Axar up when we have a strong batting lineup? It's commonly discussed that the best batters should face the most number of balls.
Are we fully utilizing Virat Kohli's abilities on these kinds of pitches?
Can we get clarity on Dube's role? He hasn't performed well in any match since being selected for the T20 World Cup.

For me, Axar bowling 16th over for only 2 runs was winning moment... As i knew after that, there was no way India is lossing..
The fall of wickets post 10th over led to that mind games. I am reminded of the great Sharjah miracle by Kapil's team defending a meager 120- and skittling the Paks to 80 or something. Well ... That didn't happen BUT surely a lot of nerves were held by the Indian team. As always, I stayed away from TV and my friends stopped updating me beyond a point ;) for the fear of losing more runs. Superstitions you see 😉
Irrespective of the win Am pretty livid with the way we throw the wickets while batting. Batters were very irresponsible and no excuse for battting only 19 overs when everyone knew before the game 140 is all what we required on board. Kudos to bowlers for bailing the team out.

India's performance: Kohli's shot was inexplicable. He had just hit a 4, and chased a wide ball, hitting it down point's throat. Rohit also skied into the deep. If he knew 140 was enough on the wicket why play the shot since the scoring rate was ok? Pant batted well though he was lucky and could have been caught at slip,and missed some big heaves,although his dismissal was also untimely and his shot unnecessary with wickets falling. Sivam looked like deer caught in the headlights. Surya and Jadeja were unable to adjust to the pitch and gave the fielding catching practice. Bumrah can score runs and also promptly holed out. There were no demons in the pitch and losing 4 wickets in 4 balls was because the pitch got into the batsmen's minds. Arshadeep sprayed the ball and leaked runs. Axar also took some stick. Hardik cleverly bowled 2 short balls seeing the batsmen advancing but otherwise looked innocuous. Siraj bowled steadily and economically without looking threatening. Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers but bowling short of a length,good length all the time is too predictable. He did not bowl the occasional fast yorker and short ball. He got into the batsmen's heads and 3 wickets.Jadeja and Axar looked unthreatening. Neither spun the ball much but neither gave away a big over and the Axar-Imad matchup at a crucial stage was to the former's advantage and maybe a turning point. India's bowling saved the day for them, particularly in the last 7 overs. India's fielding dropped a catch with sloppy fielding, and missed a couple of run out opportunities as well. Overall India played well enough to make it to the super 8 and India should make it to the semi finals as well if their form continues.India has a good chance of winning the world cup.
