(18:30) Yes, smoke can appear to "follow" a person around a campfire because when a person stands near the fire, their body acts as a barrier, blocking fresh air from reaching the flames, which creates a low-pressure zone that pulls the rising smoke towards them; essentially, the smoke is drawn into the space where the person is blocking the air flow.
Love a Steve video. Side note, as someone who has been recently working on building a survival bag/kit for our vehicles, videos like this actually help a lot because it's truthfully showing that you can survive and survive fairly well with even just stuff you can get at most stores and don't have to just get stuff that is marketed as survival gear, etc... It also shows that with a little ingenuity you could really build a basic survival kit with some of the oddest things fairly easily especially when a lot of this stuff can be picked up relatively cheap at discount stores.
@@illegalwidget267 oh absolutely, wife and I are big knife people as it is so I got plenty of those knocking around here haha. Also, for those of us in the states that have em Harbor Freight makes a good spot to get some cheap but decent for the cost tools/stuff for a survival kit as well.

never in my younger years would i have thought that my future 40 year old self would on a Saturday eve be enjoying watching some man in the woods camping with a load of plastic house bits, , , enjoy all this man's videos. .
When my sister and I were kids, we would take rubbish bags and cut them so they were just a big single sheet. We would then tape them together to make various huge multi-roomed structures that we would inflate with a deskfan and play inside. Your tent reminded me of that.
I don’t know how it’s possible but it seems every time I need relief in life you upload a video. I lost a close family member today and here I am watching with tears in my eyes yet with a smile on my face. Thank you, Steve.

Good news is it is normal now just takes time to heal and then more time n use to regain the strength. Camp was great! I myself probably would have put almost all the paper towel in the sleeping pad. My older bones prefer the cushion much more than when I was young. Lol. You look awesome to me and it was wonderful to see you! See ya again soon!! ❤❤

I live in a “trail town” here in the smokies. I see lots of $300 jackets, and there’s many outdoor stores selling all kinds of boujie wares and gourmet trail food. The Appalachian Trail got its roots by the likes of Grandma Gatewood. She took off with a shower curtain for her poncho/tent and keds and a denim bag slung over her shoulder. No maps of the trail (she completed it in 1955, the first time of 3, not much of a trail .) or gps/phone. 😊 🏕️ quite the story if you’ve not read about her. Anyway, that’s what I thought of when you were talking about what camping should be. It’s so true. 🤗🥰

They're a great relaxing way to leave things behind and go camping with a friend! Also, every time I think there isn't much left to surprise me...... you deliver! Love the videos my friend! Cheers!
I‘m a simple creature. I see a camping with Steve video, I can’t help myself but click. Greetings from Germany!
Same here! Greetings from Indiana
Also from Indiana lol@@AlvisinChains
So true from North California
Same here. Greetings from Canada!🙂
Same here 👍🏻hi from uk 🇬🇧 x
Steve, you are my favourite camper! Thank you for always being so great at cheering me up, I can't imagine life without you sleeping around!❤😊😊
I last saw your videos 4 years ago. A lot has happened these past 4 years Steve, for us both. Find ourselves in places where we sit and think and reflect, good, bad, controllable and uncontrollable. I hope you are keeping a blaze, it’s all we can do.
Just feeling a cold coming. Heard your voice, saw the pure joy in your eyes + had to laugh so hard when you lit the candle + said: „Ah, nature!“ Feeling better instantly. Thanks + take care, Steve.
Got a new job recently that im honestly really anxious about. Excited, but anxious. Not used to working in general if im honest. Been kind of a loser for a long time. Seeing this helps get rid of the anxiety for a little bit. Thank you brother
I wish you luck..may the force be with you
I’m in the exact same boat as you man, we got this
Just keep up the good work it’ll get better in time
Any update on the job?
@@Wiscoguy262 difficult but doable. Not even hard really actually, just demanding and a lot to learn. I’m getting there tho :)
Love the vids Steve!! A couple little camping tricks I use are; 1) combine while dry one pack of instant gravy and one pack of instant mashed potatoes then just add boiling water and mix to the consistency you want. 2) I use those relighting trick bday cake candles as a fire starter they work great when its windy, cold or damp out. Keep camping Steve!!!
Another great video Steve. I love how you just get out there with whatever you have and get it done. You are a glamping companies worst nightmare. Keep it up
I always smile when you make a comment about fresh baked bread or buns. It happens every few videos or so. I appreciate your appreciation for the little things in life. Happy to see you back on the saddle.... Hunker down!
Only a Canadian would go camping in the snow with a garbage bag - love ya Steve!
Steve is the gem of TH-cam that just keeps on giving ❤
never in my younger years would i have thought that my future 40 year old self would on a Saturday eve be enjoying watching some man in the woods camping with a load of plastic house bits, , , enjoy all this man's videos. .
festering soup and flyswatter hotdogs yum! 🤤
Although, flyswatter as "cleaning supply" is a stretch.
@@badpapa8252 cleans the flies out...
Why festering? It was as cold or colder than a refrigerator all night.
@@_HippieThugg_ So does OFF or RAID - pest control more than cleaning supply!
@@_HippieThugg_😂😂
I got a good chuckle when you said "we need to be kind to nature" and then proceeded to sail that rock towards the creek😂😂 glad you're back Steve!
😂😂😂
4:40 for the low low price of your dignity " , love it Steve
I definitely lold
Steve, can't say how much your videos mean to me. They are an oasis in a desert that is life. Nothing but love to you.
The cutaways to the hammock had me rolling! Glad to see you back and posting a video Steve. It’s always such a joy to watch you do your thing
😂😂😂
When my sister and I were kids, we would take rubbish bags and cut them so they were just a big single sheet. We would then tape them together to make various huge multi-roomed structures that we would inflate with a deskfan and play inside. Your tent reminded me of that.
STEVE THE MYTH!!! THE MAN!!! THE LEGEND!!!
I don’t know how it’s possible but it seems every time I need relief in life you upload a video. I lost a close family member today and here I am watching with tears in my eyes yet with a smile on my face. Thank you, Steve.
Ur in my thoughts and prayers 🙏🏻 I'm so sorry for your loss
So sorry for your loss!💔
Thank you for the kind words.
Hey Steve.
It's that time of the year again, and I just wanted to say that we're all here for you. You're a wonderful, genuine, sweet guy and you're not alone.
Take care of yourself, and recharge your batteries. You don't have to stick to a schedule, or follow any arbitrary rules. Just do you and be yourself. We'll all be here when you're ready.
Grief doesn't have a timetable, and it's okay to feel pain; it's just a reminder that you're alive.
There are Step Twos and good times available for you here in NorCal if you ever visit.
Take care, and thank you for sharing your joy and honesty with the world.
I live in Northern Michigan and we've been getting bombarded with snow. I'm so tired of shoveling and snowblowing! Thank you for this little vacation from the neverending snow!
I look forward to these videos. They make life seem simpler, if only for 30 minutes.
Glad your shoulder is better, you're feeling good, and you're not locked down location-wise. Take care and I can't wait to see the next one!
Best camping youtuber without a doubt
What a result. A camping with Steve video at the end of a long day.
Me and my family have watched you since the Commie suriv started. You saved my life a couple of times Steve. My Mom died right before the lockdowns. I live in KSA and the measures were extreme. All of this back to back from 2016, losing a fortune in investments and being broke... I plan to leave here very soon and hope to carry your work with me and let it inspire my kids to make a good life no matter what. You helped me overcome the grief that was bothing me for years from losing my mom. The S that came with the kouf, and so much more Steve,, THANK YOU!
"Commie" 😂😂😂
You are the master of dry deadpan humor! Love your meals and your cheap camping philosophy. Happy to have you back.
You ALWAYS make my day no matter where your camping or what your camping with.
Somehow watching you soothes my soul. Thank you Steve for simply being you.
God Bless you Steve. Love your videos! You've been through a ton and you're impossible to stop. Your videos bring so much joy to so many people!
So glad you have things in Nova Scotia buttoned up for a few months. Can’t wait to see what you have cooking for us. Also happy to hear your shoulder is getting better. It’s a long heal. I damaged my rotator cuff once many years ago and the first year after the injury was rough to say the least. ❤❤
I very much appreciate your videos as of late especially. Thank you for making them. I know all too well the struggles life brings us and for you to continue sharing your channel with us is a sure blessing. The words thank you will never be enough.
Nothing better than a hot bowl of festering soup on a cold night.
Thanks for another fun and ‘informative’ camping video, Steve. Keep making the videos and we’ll keep watching ‘em. The world’s a little brighter with you in it.
Your video's are great because you are so authentic and relatable. Who hasn't spent the night in a garbage bag, either actually or metaphysically? Not me
I started watching you several years ago back when you were doing trade school for gas fitting. Since then you've gone through a lot of ups and downs and through it all you've maintained a consistent message of hope and positivity. Stay healthy and keep up the good work brother!
I think the one thing Steve can't do is be boring! His videos are so entertaining and often times funny!
UPS peak season has been really kicking my butt this year and this video brought the laughter into my weekend I needed. Bless you, Steve.
I get really excited when I see Steve uploaded. He’s one of my favorites
would love to see all of the failed camping trips in a video! keep up the great work
Steve. First of all... Love your channel. Just wanted you to know, I lost my wife, I lost my girlfriend, my 2 best friends and 2 of my 3 children... I get it. I absolutely love the way you simply got on with it. Keep going. That's what they would want.
My Thursday just got a whole lot better❤❤❤
Steve needs to realize we will watch this show just to have a visit with him regardless what he is doing in the video!
His personality… likability and humor has transcended any content!
Altho the content is great!
Raising my Step Two to Steve !
Cheers!
It's so good to see you back, Steve! It's so easy to get caught up in the gear, thinking we need the latest greatest lightest equipment. We loose sight of the reason we head back into nature. Thanks for the reminder.
You look good, you sound good.Steve is back, baby!
Very resourceful camping. Thanks, Steve.
If only those 'pink slime' hot dogs were as resourceful as the camp site! lol
@@Johnny_Guitar Hey probably not as bad as the chems in that low flow run-off "creek". You can boil out the amoebas but not the chemicals so much. Also, camping in freezing weather with nothing but a garbage bag...pretty much trying to off himself on camera...
At this point, I don’t care what Steve posts, it always makes me smile and warms my heart!! Thanks Steve for being you!! Love this!!!
I watch a WIDE variety of content on TH-cam. But Steve has to be my favorite. My only complaint is that his food always looks SO good, and it makes me SO hungry!!
😂 me too and I always watch before bed.😂😂
Imagine people seeing walking with a mop in the woods . U are GOLD Steve. We love you
It's the new spinoff channel, Cleaning with Steve.
@ 😂😂 Steve is just pure Gold
Steve, you made my day. It's been a tough two and a half years for a lot of reasons. Thank you from our family.
I really appreciate you Steve. Your channel is still focused on the content and not being an advertisement for whoever sponsored you today. I hope you continue to do what you do and get paid well doing it. I hate my job.
Happy to see you again Steve
If I wore a $300 jacket camping, it would probably shred open on the first thorn I walked by :( or get holes from the fire.
I love snuggling into a blanket on a cold night and watching your crazy camping challenges
Good to see you back Steve. You were missed. Nobody can hunker down quite like you can! You're in my thoughts and prayers for continued health recovery.
Steve your so dang strong it shows. The world needs more of you bro. Keep up your good work. Thank you.
Today was an overwhelmingly busy day and seeing a new Steve upload makes the day worth it, cause now I can cozy up and enjoy this video before I go to sleep. Thank you Steve for the video!
Having grown up in the woods, there's a special warm feeling I get when your videos come out. Thank you
I have no idea where your ideas come from... a tent out of a clothes line and a mop!! Proves anything can be done with a little
ingenuity!
