Awesome video Oisin. You are honest regardless of what the watch community thinks. Omega is a current darling in the community. So the apologists come out in droves. If you had come out and said a new Rolex had serious issues the mob would come out and say how right you are and how much Rolex sucks. Same with Seiko QC. The group think mentality is so close minded. I can't want to see one of the new speedies in person and show how the edges are like and how it compares to the discontinued version. Lobe the dirty rotten scoundrels references. I think we should refer to the most obstinate in the watch community as Ruprecht from now on lol
Just purchased the new 2021 Speedy, it’s super comfy to wear and I honestly don’t notice any sharp edges. I’ve not worn any of the previous versions, so perhaps sharpe edges is just a personal thing! Great channel by the way😁
As an Omega dealer, I have to agree the edges feel awful. We sent our models back and requested more of the old hesalite models instead. Its a shame because the movement is so much better. We have heard that they will be better in the coming productions
horological authenticiy: just reporting on your direct experience and basic common sense, cost vs quality. I appreciate the brute honesty, calling it like it is
Oisin, brilliant as always. I checked in Sydney and 100% agree, the attendant agreed with me too. The edges are abrasively sharp on the Moon watch, but not on the Snoopy. Thanks for the heads up👍
The fact the music choice is more important than the money sums up the authenticity and integrity of the channel. Keep it up Oisin...great stuff as always.
As a neutral I find this topic interesting. Havent owned an omega in 30 years. As for ads. I’ve paid for the premium option for a while now after getting it free for 4 months with a new phone. Background play is great too. Hard to go back.
Another EXCELLENT video! Haters will be haters. BTW, I've had TH-cam Red, which is now called Premium, for years. WORTH EVERY CENT!!! NOT A SINGLE COMMERCIAL!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Anyone can produce a video in their home, but with your watch content and the background make your videos so much more interesting. Keep up the great content and hope to bump into you next year on my first trip to Italy!
The truth is people dislike seeing ANY opinion they don’t agree with. Had you praised the watch, it would’ve been a different story. Keep up the great work - you’re by far my favorite youtuber!
I personally like when reviewers give an idea what to watch out for. Sometimes the lust we have to purchase blinds is to looking at aspects of what we are purchasing, and when we find out too late, that purchase quickly becomes regret. I’ve read about a number of QC issues, particularly in earlier models. Chrono pushers coming off, Chrono hands not aligned and centered, and of course the dreaded sharp edges. When I bought mine, I paid particular attention to these issues. Thankfully, none appeared, and I believe these issues seem to have been addressed. Plus, they added the internal comfort extension on the newer ones. I enjoy your content and the work you put into it. Keep up the great work!
Mad respektos for sticking to what you said. Not taking down a video after some backlash and then making a video about the backlash is awesome. Good on you. Keep up the good work!!!!
Rolex salesperson talking to Omega salesperson -"i'm sick of people coming into the store asking for stainless pieces like daytonas".Omega salesperson "that's nothing compared to the customers I get looking at the new speedmaster...."
Oisin your experiences , opinions & views are yours & yours alone . I'm glad that you share them on your unbiased channel with no hidden agenda & those who disagree thats fine just shut up about it. Your channel , your style & your way ! ! !
Man. I am so sorry that you had to deal with all that! Welcome to the sorted world of luxury watch owners! I remember once on Instagram i made a comment on a very very expensive watch, basically saying that I thought it was really ugly and I didnt get all the hype. It wasnt a comment on anyone's page or watch, it was on a forum magazine. Oh man, people got sooo upset. Aggressive even. I was stunned. What this shows is the motivation that people may have for buying the watch in the first place. If you buy the watch for you, you aren't really going to care what people say about it. If you like it, you like it. If someone else doesnt, well then they dont have to buy it. And it doesnt matter if its a Tudor or a Casio. Now if they buy it to please everyone else, or to impress everyone else, then if someone doesnt like it for whatever reason, suddenly its a problem. I personally really enjoy your honesty and the ability to enjoy watches that are inexpensive as well as expensive. Hang in there. We're with you.

I just came across this video and I really don't recall seeing nether you or your channel before, but what I loved about it is the fact that you're being truthful about what you experienced with the watch and for that alone you just won another subscriber
People need to understand that fanboys of a brand need to be more harsh in their score because they love the brand. They want the brand to succeed and telling them their short comings is a great way to improved the brand. It’s called tough love. It’s hard to hear someone say negative things on the stuff you love but it’s important to see the truth.
It’s like arguing with your child’s mother… There comes a point when no matter what you say they’ve stopped listening long ago and all you can do is say I’m sorry, and move on.
I got to handle the watch at the local AD. it's a sharp angle to be sure and it will no doubt be addressed by Omega, but not to the place that I wouldn't wear it. All of this makes for good interaction (679 comments and counting... well done!)
So i was bout to run out and get it and then saw your video. It made me realize that even if it was a certain percentage of watches that had bad edges, that would be enough for me to rethink it. It shows omegas overall quality IMO. They must fix the issue. I don’t want to own a bmw that half the owners have problems with and maybe I’m the lucky one. Fit and finish is EVERYTHING. Thank you sir please stay unbiased
Great video. You said it at the start, your experience is your experience and in your experience, you reasoned that the edges were sharp and “cheap” maybe it’s an early batch issue, maybe it’s best that if your spending £6k to try it before you buy! I’m fortunate enough to afford one and I’m a fan of the Moonwatch but I’m not spending that kind of money without trying the bloody thing first! I’m not spending that money on any watch without trying it on! Buyer beware! Loved the Top Secret clip at the start!!!! Nick Rivers! Lol 😆 Val Kilmer’s 1st major role I think!
“My dog ate my Rolex” ... yeah I would click on that... and wait to see how you cleaned off the poo and if there were any lasting smells. As someone who was looking into a new Speedmaster I thought it was something good to know. It doesn’t make me want one less. It just makes me think, I need to be happy and try on the one I get. I love the videos and content, keep up the good work.
I recently found your channel and subscribed, can I just say I have watched many of your videos and they are by far the best on TH-cam, honest and concise. Thank you for all your efforts. Superb 👍
Screw the detractors, Oisín. I agree with every word you said, you had the balls to call it, nobody else did. Thanks, man. Stay safe and watch out for the “forkers”, that don’t have the level of probity you possess. I am grateful for this and stay safe. ☘️👍🏻
I absolutely died laughing when you clipped in Steve Martin and the fork scene, its perfect, lol. I too am guilty of perhaps validating my own purchase by looking at what others have said about it too. Watches are art that we collectively experience and as social creatures I think that desire to see what the body of experiences are out there that may be part of your own is human and natural. Now if one's whole world is about validating one's decisions externally, they're bound for disappointment because, shocker, there will be detractors and some of them will have well reasoned arguments that may trigger cognitive dissonance, and if one doesn't value one's own reasons and experience over it, or even acknowledge it as someone else's experience that doesn't need to be defeated in some way, they may suddenly want to lash out at those detractors - that's an immature reaction one should guard against. Unfortunately TH-cam comments and social media in general is full of this. Great response video, I quite enjoyed it. Bravo for standing your ground on what is essentially you having to defend your own experience! Its nuts. Yes, I am an Omega fanboy, but that doesn't mean Omega gets a blanket pass on everything either. There are some hills one should not die on and at $7k, hotspots or linear sharpness that creates discomfort isn't one of them.

Every time we process negative comments about things we are emotionally attached to offers an opportunity for growth and personal insight. People who fight it are missing a chance to mature by a hair every time. Anyway, you keep doing your thing!
Like my good buddy says. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. You’re an excellent collector and passionate lover of Rolex, been following you for quite some time. Keep up the good work and teaching others. Let the haters hate. This is from your fellow musician friend who’s dying to go back on tour lol
I’m afraid you can’t win with a lot of the omega fan boys. They don’t want to hear your honesty so let them get on with it. Once they start getting a rash from the sharp edges they will wish they had listened. Keep up the good work. Baz
In fairness, nobody anywhere has complained of rashes or cuts from the new speedy case that I am aware of. I don’t own the new one but one thought I had from the first video (after feeling the sharo edges in another watch I own) is that it feels sharp when you look for it but doesn’t ever feel sharp when I wear it.
Oisin - love you - love you are principled and do your thing - love your and the quality you deliver. And because of it I'd encourage those who haven't yet to support you (and Fragments) on Patreon to do so! And I'd add that everything you said in this video is spot on. I did tell you that I bought one after hearing your thoughts and just didn't see what you saw as I considered it. I appreciated the insight, but it wasn't what I experienced, and I went ahead bought one with that insight. I've wondered if your experience with the 4 in your shop was maybe different than others - I have no idea how quality may vary watch to watch or run to run or whatever. Who knows? Only mildly care. Guarantee that you're right about why some others were disagreeing with you - for all the reasons you state. That being said, I couldn't care less at this point. I LOVE what you do, but in my truly humble opinion, I'd just love you to say your thing and go on to your next thing. I can't imagine what my human nature would make me want to do in response to comments on my TH-cam channel, but I'd love to see you just reply to some comments directly and then just move on. I look for your new videos almost every day. When one pops up, I can't wait for new content. I really don't want to rehash debates, even if you are right. TH-cam is filled with debates, and it's tiring. I'd rather you let those who disagree just disagree, maybe comment on their comments (really appreciated, actually), but let your video stand on its own and move forward with your next thing which people can love or hate. All that being said, you are correct in your general perspective that we should all do what we think and feel, when it comes to buying watches or making TH-cam videos, so you should definitely do your thing. From my own selfish standpoint, I'd just rather not waste time debating those who want to debate for their own reasons and just get on to more of your own uniquely special thoughts and content. Whatever - will always love and support you - just some thoughts that are no more relevant than anyone else's. And love your Chopin thoughts up front and mutual annoyances with TH-cam commercials! Keep doing your thing, brother!
Of course, I can't even write a basic note without typo errors, so I don't know how much credence you should put into my crap as some sort of thoughtful critic!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion...however, everyone should operate from the same facts! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is one of the best movies of all time...just fantastic!
Really glad you made the video, and this one! Unfortunately the comments section on TH-cam gives the clueless or gutless masses the chance to talk absolute crap anonymously! I’m sure that 99.9% of these people don’t have the balls to say the things they type in person. Twitter is the same. I’m a research scientist, but a plumber from Runcorn can educate me on something I spent 5 years working on as a post doctoral fellow! 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for your clear and open words, Oisin! I appreciate your TTWC and enjoy it almost every day, and many of your vids are real little gems with an artistic quality.
Great video Oisin. Keep giving your advice and opinions, you are really good at it. Buying any watch is a personal experience. You feel what you feel as you said. Your original video I recall showed the cheapest hesalite version? I tried the same hesalite version, didnt like the magnifying effect of the plastic and so bought the 3861 Sapphire sandwich on a leather bracelet. I tried it on in the shop and loved it. You are right the case edges are sharp. I just ran my finger across them again now to check while watching this video. They don't dig into my skin, mark or cut me but you can feel the edge for sure. I'm ok with it. Whether or not its a manufacturing fault or deliberate design tolerance I don't know or care. It didn't influence my decision to buy and your video made me look closer in the store to check I was comfortable with it and that is good. I bought the watch for the timeless design and new movement advantages. Its beautiful. I've ordered the metal bracelet separately so it will be interesting to see if that is uncomfortably sharp or not. I wonder if your concerns forecast impact sales volume to the extent that Omega modifies the production process....I'm off to buy a Mark 40 as everybody hates those too. Being contrarian in life is living.
Very much appreciate the clarification about the ads in the Tudor video. You had me worried for a moment you were about to go down the white outlines and silly faces route... I shouldn't have doubted you!
Keep doing what you're doing. Keep feeding us videos that ask "Have YOU ever ridden a torpedo?" Fu**ing classic man! Best, most honest watch channel we have 👍🏻
Haters are going to hate. Love your content and appreciate you providing a heads up about an issue you experienced so we can be mindful and check before purchasing. Please keep up the great work, I always appreciate your videos.
I got a whole other level of appreciation for this channel.... Good on you for calling out the jewellers' bullshit and good on you for not succumbing to the eco chamber's demands.
Speedy Lover and owner here. Not interested in the new model but...grabs popcorn and sips tea in anticipation of your no doubt competent and epic response.
My AD in the US agrees with you. I was in my AD (who sells Omega, Rolex, and several other Swiss luxury brands) and asked about the problem on the bracelet you discussed. He said he had also noticed it--almost cut him. He thinks Omega will have to do a recall, but who knows.
Hey Oisín! Love your videos. I know you probably won't read this but I bought my Omega Speedmaster Professional (Sapphire-Sandwich) in December, 2022 and noticed the sharp edges (having not seen your video). I've got a 2020 RolexvSubmariner Date and 2021 Rolex Explorer 36mm and don't have this problem. And for a laugh, I was using a stapler the other day and the stapler slipped on the table and hit my suit cuff, pushing the Speedmaster a little up my arm and yes, I broke skin! It hurt! Haha On a side note, I've accidentally dropped on hard tile each of my Submariner and Explorer (about 4-feet) flat on their crystals because they slipped out of my hands due to them being so smooth (they are fine obviously and tough as nails, just a few scratches). So if you're a klutz like me, rest assured, your Speedy's not going to slip out of your hands!
Firefox gives you a free ad block for TH-cam. It's about 99% effective. Stop apologizing for it. You had mentioned that before when the Interstellar debacle happened. Always grateful for your advice, it gives us collectors a heads up. And helps us look for pitfalls. I whent to the dealer and tried one. I didn't find the issue but I'm glad I looked out for it. Maybe the dealer refinished himself. Or Omega heard and corrected the problem. Or maybe QC is spotty.
Oisin, it is my subjective opinion that you are a well educated and intelligent gentleman with refined aesthetic sensibilities. It is precisely the artistic and subjective manner in which you interpret and share your observations that draws me in. Thank you! As to those with less refined sensibilities, get forked! ;)
Jesus. It was a fair comment by you. Message was try it on before you buy it. I was pretty pleased for the warning and will be on the look out for the issue. That's why I watch these videos. I know way more about all kinds of watches than I did before. Knowledge is power. Simples.
I think it's important to look at peoples opinions in a different way. It's not as much as people just wanting to defend their watch. It's more in a direction where people have a different level of tolerance towards something. Maybe it isn't that sharp as you say it is, maybe it is. Maybe it was just a bit sharper than other watches, but not sharp enough to really be a problem. You know? I personally don't own the speedy, and I am pretty sure I won't buy it. But I am in the boat where at least the one I tried in the store didn't feel that sharp, I honestly didn't notice it. Sure it is probably sharper than a submariner, but I don't get why this is such a big deal, why is it supposed to be super smooth? Why can't it be like it already is? I think that is where the problem lies, some like it just the way it is, and some want it to be more smooth. Those that want it more smooth make it an issue and they feel like a watch at that price shouldn't have the sharpness it has. But who set that "standard"? They did it themselves. And it is fine to like whatever you like, but I think it's a bit rash to say "don't buy it!" just because you feel it's an issue. Sure there are some issues out there that calls for a negative opinion about a watch and causes one to say "don't buy it", but generally that would be about things that are more important than personal preference. I would seriously not call this an issue. It's fine, it's just personal preference, and people will have to make up their own mind in a store. But thanks for at least sharing some negatives about the watch. I just think one has to expect the pushback one gets for something like personal preferences, and then one goes out and says "don't buy it because my personal preference says so". And adding to the end here, I am not a big watch buyer, I only have 2 watches and will always have max 3. I am not a seller, I don't work with any brands. Just a regular worker who happens to be interested in watches.
I just went to my omega boutique here in Houston and the speedie they showed me had quite the aggressive edge on the case. I definitely understand what you were talking about now.
Always good to get honest feedback and appreciate an opinion that is genuine..anthill else is just nonsense...opinions are subjective and experiences are what they are....keep up the good content and let the haters rejoice...lol. Good job on the public service and glad to see your cool with the silliness....
“When you are able to maintain your own highest standards of integrity - regardless of what others may do - you are destined for greatness.” Napoleon Hill
Ive never heard of a speedmaster b4.. im new too watches really, was with a friend on Friday looking for watches he was looking at this watch we both tried it.. first thing i said to the dealer was.. jesus thats sharp!
I appreciate the honesty and integrity here. I think the point about 'confirmation bias' is well made. We all do it and it's very understandable. But it doesn't justify rude or disrespectful comments. 'Before you buy it. Try it.' No-one could disagree with that.
I have an image of Omega workers lined up frantically sanding down the edges. Which actually is exactly what they'll do lol Magically they won't be sharp anymore thanks to you.
Those are the best videos. Open minded, authentic, *factual* and fun at the same time. The mark of an interesting human being. That's why I enjoy this channel. Don't get rattled by human nature. Truth and happiness are a furious contradiction my friend. I found that a moment of thruth almost always come at the cost of happiness (a high one most of the time). The question is, are you ready to pay that cost? Thank you, not only for the excellent content, but for your shared reflection.
First, that Seiko is sweet! Second, your music knowledge is smashing. Third, reaction to the Speedy video reminds me of a quote; "Life is tough. It’s tougher if you’re stupid." Thanks for the quality/objective/trustworthy content, man. We love it!👍🏼

It boils down to, people are too insecure to hear any negative criticism about something they purchase or even just like!
As an old teacher of mine once memorably said “Gentlemen, we are dealing with idiots”
"Why is there cork on the Speedmaster?"
"It's a long story..."
Don’t sweat it Oisin, the truth still hurts ignorant people, keep up the honesty 🙏🏻👍
You're a righteous dude for bringing the sharp edges to our attention.
Always love your perspective on these "controversial" topics. Great stuff Oisin!
I m guilty of buying a watch and then watching TH-cam videos of it. Lol. That's why I love your channel 😎
Nothing wrong with that! It's a human thing to do lol
Same. lol
Guilty
Guilty but I don't like admitting it
Yep I did that yesterday with the Tudor Black Bay 58 I've just bought!
Normally I’d say ignore the haters but this was actually hilarious!
Top Secret! 2:40 The movie is hilarious, wacky, clever and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Nick Rivers ‘s references are rare which make them gems

You have my vote. I could not be happier that this video does not involve any capitulation. Bravo!
Damn right, truth will out
Keep it up, love your channel.

Your initial video was mature and well said. This follow-up is spot-on as well. For the trifecta, I'd love to hear Lenny's thoughts on all this.
Sharp edges that threaten to slit my wrist.... Blood spurting in a maelstrom of misery and death. All hope is lost.

Screw the detractors, Oisín. I agree with every word you said, you had the balls to call it, nobody else did. Thanks, man.
Stay safe and watch out for the “forkers”, that don’t have the level of probity you possess. I am grateful for this and stay safe. ☘️👍🏻
Glad to see that there’s a watch enthusiast on TH-cam who differentiates between luxury goods and Veblen goods.

Fab stuff, I’ve not tried one. Always great to hear your opinion. Keep well 👍👏
Every time we process negative comments about things we are emotionally attached to offers an opportunity for growth and personal insight. People who fight it are missing a chance to mature by a hair every time. Anyway, you keep doing your thing!
Thats why I have you tube premium
Watched both vids on this subject. Subbed.
Best RANT ever. Worth every moment, and like others have said before haters gonna hate. Keep up the great work👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
A year on, any updates on this, has it been tweaked etc?
I liked this one along with all the others, don't let the buggers get to you! Keep up the good work we love it.
Love your channel from France, continue to share your experience!!
Cant wait to see this when I get home. Instalike
Great video Oisin! Gotta love the ending with Ruprict going to the bathroom first...thanks for another masterpiece!
This fellow Irishman appreciates your honesty and videos. Keep em coming.
Very much appreciate the clarification about the ads in the Tudor video. You had me worried for a moment you were about to go down the white outlines and silly faces route... I shouldn't have doubted you!
Missed opportunity to have Lenny come on and tell all the pushbackers to "get F-d and stay F-d" lol. Love the content, keep it up boss.
😂 yeah I bet that was hard keeping Lenny out in a Tourette’s sort of way
Keep doing what you're doing.
Love your channel and videos! Keep doing what you doing and keep up the great content 👍 also where is your face mask from I really like it!
Easy solution here. No sharp edges on a Grand Seiko, tongue in cheek. (Mind you a GS chronos are large and expensive).
Speedy Lover and owner here. Not interested in the new model but...grabs popcorn and sips tea in anticipation of your no doubt competent and epic response.
I bought a brand new 2022 omega speedmaster 3861 sapphire. There is no issue with sharp edges on mine
Thats great. Yes I have one myself now from 2022 without the issue.
@ glad to hear! Did you hear omega is coming out with a quickadjust clasp for our speedies? Would make the watch perfect
@ So it's fixed? Would you recommend the Oem bracelet?
It hurt! Haha
On a side note, I've accidentally dropped on hard tile each of my Submariner and Explorer (about 4-feet) flat on their crystals because they slipped out of my hands due to them being so smooth (they are fine obviously and tough as nails, just a few scratches). So if you're a klutz like me, rest assured, your Speedy's not going to slip out of your hands!
Great video, love the channel and totally 💯 agree.
That´s why I loves this channel. Perfect return, Oisin. Best regards Edgar

Totally agree, the speedy bracelet pulls on arm hair. Shave your arm hair and it’s a comfy watch or swap it for a nato strap.
Let’s hope they do something.
Keep speaking the truth. Thats why I am watching your channel!
Great channel, great content, dont read the comments.... lol
The Zero West video was my fav I think. Keep doin what youre doin! I love it. 🍻👍✌
First, that Seiko is sweet!
Second, your music knowledge is smashing.
Third, reaction to the Speedy video reminds me of a quote; "Life is tough. It’s tougher if you’re stupid."
Thanks for the quality/objective/trustworthy content, man. We love it!👍🏼
