    Never have I seen such a helpful video for backwards crossovers that I can not only follow easily, but shows it in a pronounced way that everyone can understand. Kseniya- you have such amazing form and seeing you makes me feel like I'm learning the right way just by seeing it done the best way possible! thanks!!

    This is exactly what I was looking for - a video where you also have a lot of time to just look at someone doing it and study it. It is soooo helpful. Watched many videos before this and none of them had it and it's an important aspect at least for me. Thank you so much!!

    When I do backward crossovers in the counterclockwise direction, I find it difficult to fully extend the right leg under the left leg.

    Hello Xenia and Oleg, thank you for your marvelous skating videos. I have tried to get my backward crossovers better, but bought new skates with new blades. Now i feel skating backwards like a bug in the tar with a soundfull scratch (huh, don't laugh). Shall I just learn to use my heels more or what?

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ariane, it's normal to feel off in new skates and blades, with enough practice you will be back to your old self! Meanwhile, if you want to find the range of your skates, do something simple like forward and backward Swizzles.

    just wondering about the last instant before the pushing foot leaves the ice as you release of the ball of the foot, should there not be any scratching sound at that point either? I can get pretty good power and acceleration on these, but can't seem to eliminate a scratch on the end.

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you should be able to do a full push without the scratching. You may need to start your push further back. Regardless of forwards or backwards, pushes start from the heel. If you start from the middle of the blade, you will catch the ice with your toe picks. If you are scratching on forward crossovers, it could be your hip. You have to turn out your foot from your hip, otherwise you may catch your toe picks as your foot pushes off, causing a scratch. Let us know if it helps!

    Hi, thank you so much for all the great videos! I wonder what is the name of the turn which is Kseniya making in this video at 1:45-1:47? I would like to learn it but I can't find any infos about it - because I don't know the name:)

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's just a step forward, but there's a way to doing it where you won't feel like you're gonna die. Unfortunately our partnership has ended, but I continue to make skating videos under my new channel: icedanceroleg I will make a video explaining how to do it in the coming month.

    Hi guys. Do you mind if I ask a question? My coach is working on backward crossovers with me and she's very particular that the free foot (the right foot in the video) must be placed on the ice on an outside edge. In the video, Kseniya is clearly placing her right foot down on an inside edge and switching to outside as she does the underpush. I was just wondering - is there a reason for that? Thanks :)

    • @kseniyaOleg
      @kseniyaOleg  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +jammycaketin Yep, while you can do backward crossovers by placing the inner foot on the outside edge, we do it with and outside to and inside as that way you get a greater stride and a stronger push.

      +Kseniya and Oleg Official Channel Oh, ok. Thanks for your explanation :)

      Yep! Keep in mind that crossover technique evolves with your skill level.
