When someone is teaching themselves to skate, what order should they learn things in? I can do forward skate, forward crossovers, backwards skate, and i'm working on backwards crossovers. What would you recommend trying next and after that? Thank you for the awesome videos x
simply_kenna two foot turns, maybe 3 turns, power pulls, and beginning two foot spins, backward one foot glides and backward edges, I learned a bunny hop around that time but it's really not necessary and it might be to scary for you
Right now I'm a little past that (i take lessons) and after that we learned lunges, Mohawks, and 3 turn. Then we learned our edges ( it's kinda like doing half circles on a line and some other stuff. I can't really remember
these are really helpful. I can't afford skating lessons but have been learning stuff via your videos and when I next go skating, I practise. I learnt forwards crossovers from your vid and hope to learn to skate backwards. your videos explain things really clearly
Thankyou so much for giving us the chance to learn these moves, my skating has been much better since watching your videos. Please could you do a video about "brackets, rockers & counters please? Much love xxxx
Hello, I just wanted to say this video helped me a lot. I’ve been struggling with backward crossovers for a while now and even when my instructor explains and demonstrates what’s going on it wasn’t clear to me what she was exactly saying or showing. This video really cleared up a lot about what I could do to improve. They aren’t perfect, but I just went to the rink to do some practice and there was a major improvement compared to before. So, thank you. This video helped a lot. :)
Hey I love your channel so much, the technique is so clean which really helps me, I was wondering if you could do a switch foot sit spin and switch foot camel spin tutorial?
This is a great vid! Do you have any tips on how to get more rotation while doing jumps? I struggle with under rotation sometimes, especially with lutz and flips. Do you have tips on fixing that? Thanks!!
So when I do my crossovers I always end up doing really tight circles, I can keep doing them for a couple of minutes just never in a large circle like you have done here.
Please make more videos! Your videos are so helpful. I absolutely love them. It would be better if the videos are numbered so I know which ones to learn first. Thanks! :)
I would think it could be used for roller skating. It's the same technique I suppose. I mean I learned how to do forward crossovers by doing them in roller blades
Francisca this should be okay. But spinning, jumping, and a couple other things are VERY DIFFERENT. it's a lot different then people think tbh. Good luck girl!💖
I was quite good at backward crossovers with hockey skates, as well as doing both forward 3 turns etc. Now I've switched to figure skates and I am scraping the ice badly with the lowest toe pick. Could you give any directions how to avoid that, on stature, on which part of the blade should leave the ice (is it under ball of the foot?) etc. It is also quite strange to keep balance, as the blade is curved. But I'm happy with spins, they go much more fluently, than with hockey skates :-D Thank you.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! Very helpful but I have a problem for example when my right leg cross my left leg, my left leg 's toe pick kinda gets on to ice and I can't move further unless i cross over again.
Your videos are very helpful but anyway to do them in slow motion? I am having trouble in the second half of the crossover and dont know quite what to do with the second foot and keep tripping up. :-( thanks.
Hello from Finland.Thank you for the great video. I still have a problem: I can't glide backwards properly in my new skates (mark iv blade). Awful scraching sound and can't get speed. Am I skating too much front of the blade or what? Thanks for the tips, if you have time to answer :)
hi! I'm starting to Learn how to figure skate and I love your vids, I really want to become really good. Im starting to go 4 times per week to my rink to practice, but My goal is to make an axel or double axel and beilmann (or however you write that) but I'm not even flexible and I'm 12 and all of the great skater began at 4😭 Can you help me?? How coul I learn to do an axel!?? I can barely do a waltz jump
Question - At first, you taught that the arm extended back...to put your thumb up in the air to make sure your shoulder is rotated the right way. Then at 1:09, you start talking about something else and your thumb is pointed down. Are we supposed to only keep the thumb up while we're learning how our shoulder should be? Then we should eventually rotate our hand down?
hello! i'm currently working on these. i can do backward, i'm working on the gap between the feet and positioning. my coach pointed out i also drag my toepicks. do you have any tips to help me avoid this? i might be leaning too far forward, but i'm not really sure.
i love your videos so much! i used to take classes for 6 years actually, but i havent skated in a while and when i was back at the rink, i could only remember how to skate and glide foraward and forward crossovers :( these videos are reaaaally helpful and i absolutely love this channel, youre a great teacher
Does anyone have any tips on skating forward with one leg? I started roller skating a few weeks, I'm self taught, and I can't skate on one leg. I can't find the balance. I was wondering if there's any exercises to improve that? Like without the skates on or something :/
Hi Francisca. Some more time skating regularly and you will find your center of gravity. Try to swing in every stride and don't keep a wide instance all the time. When you keep a wide instance your weight is in the middle while your objective is actually to change the weight from one foot to another. First position is narrow, second position is wide and you must switch between both of them. When you start strides are short and that is how everyone learns, as you get more confidence you will swing better and strides will be longer. That will allow you to stay on one leg. I suggest you check Asha Kirkby videos, she has roller skating and roller blading tutorials.

The anime channel X I feel like chasses are sort of unnecessary if your not going into synchronized skating... could be wrong though
HI KENNA I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS AND THAT WAS ALL I WANTED TO SAY ALSO I LOVE YOU
simply_kenna What the hell are YOU doing here?????

Please make more videos! Your videos are so helpful. I absolutely love them. It would be better if the videos are numbered so I know which ones to learn first. Thanks! :)
Can this videos be used to roller skating as well? There's almost no videos on youtube with roller skating tutorials, and this ones are so helpful😥
I would think it could be used for roller skating. It's the same technique I suppose. I mean I learned how to do forward crossovers by doing them in roller blades
roller and ice skating are very similar so I think so just try to change the movement for 4 wheels instead of one blade.

Omg Thank you soo much, i was soo confused i didint understand how to do it and now i can do it THANK YOU!!
This guy makes it look easy, I tried it and its really hard.

Thank you, I have just learnt to do backwards crossovers, this will help me fine tune them, it's made me think, "how do I have my thumb ?" Lol

Ooo tkanks verry muuuch

Please😨 tell me the difference betwen Crossover and Progressive. I'm non English! I'm confusion!
I’m still doing the “beginner” crossovers and every time I lift my leg to cross, I stop gliding backwards T^T
Which level is this on :)
Which ice rink is this??
+Sonia Jones it's Whitley bay UK
hi from Taiwan
Ngl, I can do these, I was just really interested as to what they looked like from a different perspective.
wow. no one in your area can do one of these? where i live there is usually a person who is capable of doing them.
@@matthew3v2 Well I mean, Ice Skating where I live isnt popular. Most people can't skate forward confidently.
@@ameliasoldierpng Wow. What country do you reside in?
@@matthew3v2 England, Im not sure what it's like elsewhere in the country though
Thanks from russia
What ice skates?
I want to learn how to do this soo bad but I can’t get over my fear of face planting while going backwards :(
Some couches say that you should lift the right foot and then cross it over but in this video the couch doesn’t lift his foot he just pushes it
It depends on what level you are, for beginners i always teach to lift the foot but as they advance it is better to leave it on the ice.
I ALWAYS STOP ON MY TOE PICKS AND ITS SO ANNOYING
it okay if im not extend my arm, because it looks gay for me, want to look cool u know, but in figure skate is beautiful
jirayu chulacharit
Extending your arms enhances your balance, (at least for me, anyway)
I always forget which leg I'm supposed to be pushing with 😂
Im gonna enroll do better watch dis vid
I tried
My legs are to thic
