That was a great advertisement! Made me check their page, even though I live in Europe :D By the way, have you ever tried cooking after shattering the stars?! Enjoy some cool, old school storytelling with the #starshatter books :)
A friend of mine has built up a pretty good small business selling fried pies at a local farmers' market. I was astounded at how popular the fried pies are... so many of our customers tell us the fried pies bring back memories of their Mama's or their Grandma's cooking.
I'm going to say this, I love your recipes. But I absolutely love your thanks to those that currently serve, and even bigger thanks to recognize our veterans. I learned a few things. But that recognition and tip of the hat brings me back every time.
I was not going to comment anymore but at the end I just couldn't help it. 😆 Years ago I used to win blue ribbons for my apple pies. Everyone wanted my secret for my pie crust. Honestly it was just made with love! Now that I'm 54 and single, I can't seem to get my pies to turn out like I used to! I'm not sure why!??? I know that love was the most important ingredient and now theresnot much of that left, except for Jesus Christ! That should be absolutely plenty of love! It's been a while since I've tried my pies and now you have given me a beautiful reason to try them again! Thank you so much! God bless you!🙏🥧❤💕
I live extremely close to a huge Mennonite community right on the edge of the border between Southern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee, and there’s a bakery that will keep you coming back for more every time. They actually sell their fried pies in the local convenience stores!
Hopefully it is not the last video we see from you until Christmas but if so, I would like to wish a happy holidays to everybody. Be good to yourself, you deserve it.
Did great on the apple peel reel! I remember my Aunt making fried pies back in the 70s. Big Pies stuffed with Sweet potatoes with pecans. It was February and I'd just returned from overseas. I made a total pig of myself that day. But I'll never forget watching her cooking both the pies and herself in that small hot kitchen in north Texas while grinning to make the sun shine. Talking in the voice of the hard of hearing " I like that you're enjoying my cooking skinny kid!"
My Grandpa was a minister who had to call on his parishoners once in awhile. This one home asked if he would like a piece of pie. Never refusing pie, he had a lovely piece and complimented the lady of the kitchen on her beautiful edge. So different. How did you get an edge like that? She said, Easy. She took out her false teeth and crimped the edge with them!
I can't tell you how much your videos and recipes mean to me! I grew up on a farm and always made our own sausage, bacon, steaks, ribs and raised our chickens and eggs, grew our corn, watermelons, tomatoes, okra, potatoes, sweet potatoes, oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, apples, figs, grapes (muscadine and table grapes), blueberries, figs and more. When my precious Dad passed away so much was lost from everyone but me! I dream of having this again! And as I watch your beautiful videos I feel so close to my roots! Thank you so much! God bless you! Merry Christmas!❤🙏💕💝🎄❄🎁
I gave my son, TWO middle names. So if I used all four... He knew he was REALLY in trouble 😂 Also, he's the one who sent me this video, requesting these for Christmas.
Dang, those pies look awesome! The pie crust, the filling, and the caramel sauce all look outstanding in their own right. Who wasn't thinking of a nice apple pie ice cream sundae? With caramel sauce of course 👍 Merry Christmas to all! 🎄
2:45 I always keep a cube of butter in the freezer. Then I have it on hand when I want to make scones. Same trick, using the coarse grater. Now I can do it with fried pies too! Thanks!
Oh! I love when your videos show up!!! I can't even watch until I say hello! God bless you sweet friend! Merry Christmas to you and your family!❤🙏💕💝🎄❄🎁
All I can say is Cowboy Kent Rollins is someone I would love to meet. He supports veterans like me, cooks up a storm, and has a great sense of humor!! 🇺🇸
Those pies look really good. My grandmother made fried pies. My favorite was dried apricot pies. Her apple pies were good too. I sure wish I could have some of her fried pies.
This video is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds! The cinematography is on point, and I appreciate the effort you put into making the cooking process so enjoyable to watch. From Bangladesh.
Old Fashioned Fried Apple Pie that brings back memories of when I was a kid here in Oklahoma especially during the holidays have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Thank You very much Kent.🇺🇲🤠🍏🥧🤠🇺🇲
I've used the butter in the freezer / grater method for DECADES! Always worked great! I came up with it on my own, WAY before the advent of the internet!
Same here, but Gram told me to do it along with keep you hands out of the dough, and don't over work it, her's would be so flaky and she used lard.@@carolsaylor6151
I havent had a fried pie in years. My Mom would make them for us. They were a special treat. I am going to be making these. Lol Got my taste buds to jumping. Like your happy dance. Haha
When mom had had enough of my foolishness she used to yell 'SHANNON ANN!' My middle name is Larissa😂 I never had the guts to question her. I still don't know why lol I agree, the crust makes or breaks the pie❤
Well, this made me miss my grandmother, Granny ver, and her delicious fried pies. She never added apple cider vinegar, but I'm going to give it a whirl. Merry Christmas Kent to you & yours.❤🎄❤
Thank you, I'm a Vietnam veteran, 73 years old now ,we are living here in Florida. I thank you for your fried apple pie recipe, I will be using the recipe to make some. God bless
Those look delicious Kent. I did your sourdough crust and blueberry creamcheese turnovers a few years ago. Excellent! Have a great week my friend and God Bless! Cheers!
Thank you Kent and Shannon for another great recipe and for your support of our military and veterans. As a retired member of the Army, I really appreciate your kind words. Your fried pie looks absolutely delicious. Another way to make pies is to use a pie iron over a campfire (or coals), but fried is probably the best!!! Thank you again.
Looks good enough to eat. Recently I have made two big batches of apple pie filling. Several pint jars were canned for later and another batch went into the freezer. I used 5 verities of apples and the flavor is outstanding with fresh picked apples.
You're right there with Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers with me. Wholesome, genuine, American. You're a North star in these times Cowboy Kent. I'll be making this recipe for the family on Christmas, thank you and God bless you and yours sir.
Nice. Fried Apple Pies oh yes, LOL reminds me when I was a young Air Force Staff Sergeant in the early 90's my Mom sent me on e of those sandwich press things for Christmas anyhow I was watching one of the infomercials on the same press the lady made apple pies with sandwich bread and canned apple pie filling, not fresh but being on a Air Force Base I could get those ingredients at the Commissary and so I added a little sugar and cinnamon to the filling and made my pies, my dorm neighbors smelled them and wanted one or three, I could make four little triangle pies at one time didn't take long to go through a loaf of bread. Wish I still had that press I kept it for years even after I retired makes for a quick and easy meal. FYI if you want to make the edges of the pie pretty look for a kitchen tool called a Pastry Crimper and Sealer it looks like a pizza cutter only the wheel is thicker and has a pattern embossed on the edge.
Dang Cowboy Kent, I had to stop the video to put on a bib to continue watching, cause I was drooling so bad. Bless You, Shannon and the ever reliable 4 legged "taste testers", throughout this holiday season. Merry Christmas in advance!
They use to have a fried pie place In Oklahoma City when I lived there years ago, right down the street from Putnam city high school, they were so delicious!!! These remind me of them so much!! Love ya Kent much love from broken bow
Kent, my Grandmama used to make something called “butter pies”. A thin crust and butter and sugar on the inside. You know the butter and sugar make delicious hard candy.
Yep I used to make sugar candy in a little foil pouch over the stove when I was a tot...wish I'da known about the butter too. Mom didn't know about my doins!

They were the best store bought fried pies I have ever had, they did not have that awful frosting on it like all others do. They were a family run company and used good Ingredients . A few years ago ( 2010 or so) I tried to find them online to order some pies ( I now live in Va. ) sadly they had gone out of business sometime back in late 80s early 90s. My husband and children and myself have been watching your videos for about two years now….best TH-cam channel!!!!! Clean and no need to be fearful of something inappropriate being said or done. May God Bless you and thank you! We laughed so hard at this one!!!!! Funny editing!!!!
My late father use to tell me just how great his mother's homemade fried pies were the joy in his eyes and you could see the pain on his face she passed away when he was 17 the day she died he joined the army and was sent to Vietnam.
Ha! Crimping edges w a fork 👍. As a kid my great-grandmother made fried “pies”. Usually the filling was homemade mincemeat made from pears that we fought the wasps for. From grinding the pears with a table mounted hand-powered (me) grinder to crimping the edges of the dough w a fork; that’s how I learned to cook.

My family used to do some of those ..my dad would be in the kitchen with a cast iron skillet and a can of biscuits rolling them out putting cocoa with sugar and butter in them and then frying pies up and then put sugar on them😊
I use a steel strainer to grate my cold butter. My grandmother showed me this when I was 7/8 .another tip is to freeze the strainer 😊😊😊 thanks for great videos Shanon and ken

Bacon powder.. place bacon bits in a sandwich bag and get to pounding(I mix with breadcrumbs when I make meatloaf)
