Just got my puppy two days ago and I was feeling overwhelmed with the amount of info I’ve been consuming to make sure I do all the right things. This video just told me take a deep breath and don’t overthink it. So thank you for this!
I really needed this right now. It's been a rough day. I've had my puppy for 1 week. The potty training was going so well but today was such a low in the potty training department. She had so many pee accidents inside. She also just started transitioning from milk to solid food and she's had an upset tummy and diarrhoea. I've been giving her medication for it but she absolutely dislikes the meds. I'm so stressed and my heart is breaking knowing that she's not feeling well. I haven't had much luck curbing her nipping. She's only 6.5 weeks old so I know the nipping is because she's still teething. This is exactly the encouragement I needed. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this. Just 2 minutes into the video and I feel like I can do this again. We just got our 2nd puppy a few days ago, he is about 5 months old (our other pup is 1.5 yrs). I've been overwhelmed. He likely was mistreated in his previous home because we've had some unexpected things to work through. He just started relaxing more and chewing on toys which is a huge step for him. it's sad he barely is interested in toys and came to us with absolutely nothing. He doesn't even get excited over toys. To sum it up its been more than I expected and I appreciate the encouragement. Everyday seems to be getting better.
I had to pause this and make a comment before finishing this video. Thank you!!!! We adopted a puppy a month ago, and I am just so overwhelmed. My husband and I have two teenagers (who are both a huge help with him, thank goodness) and honestly, this feels just like when my kids were toddlers. He snoops in the cupboards, wakes me up in the night to pee, chews on everything, is super busy and I have to constantly find things to keep him busy so he doesn't bug my cats or chew on my house, he pees everywhere. Oh but I love him to pieces and I just feel so torn between "what have I done to myself!!" and "this is the most loving, gentle dog I have ever been a dog mom to in 21 years."
I love your videos Rachel! I really needed to watch this right now. We’ve had our Mini Aussie for only 2 weeks but it feels so much longer with all the potty training/accidents, jumping, biting, nipping and barking, as well as getting my senior cat adjusted to having another animal in the home. You’ve hit every feeling I’ve been experiencing. There’s been anxiety, tears, and frustration as it’s all so overwhelming at times. I really needed to calm myself and take those deep breaths. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and showing us how to navigate this “small window” 😳 of time. Praying has helped tremendously too. 🙂
Im getting a puppy soon shes a belgian shepherd husky mix and your videos has helped guide me in being more prepared then ever! Not that im already prepared but your videos has helped me be so much more prepared ❤
Your videos are so helpful! I just got a new puppy last week, the first puppy I've had in 17 years. I forgot what it's like to have a puppy in the home. I love him so much but it's a lot of work! Lol. I've been binging these videos for tips to make the adjustment easier.
Hi Rachel… I recently (last week) got a 12 week old Malshi puppy. Any tips to prevent him from eating his Poo 💩?? 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮. I took him to vet and they gave us some supplements to give to him with his meals twice per day. We’ve only been on them a week but he’s still seeming to eat it. When I’m home I try to watch him but there’s times when I smell Poo 💩 don’t see Poo but he’s chewing and I’ve not fed him. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Awesome video, Rachel! I have an adult dog and am getting a puppy soon, but I had to write you to say that EVERYTHING you said about socialization is SO TRUE! My partner and I are now having to work much harder to desensitize our older dog simply because we didn't do it enough in the beginning! Thanks for spreading your message of positivity every day. I thank you on behalf of every pet parent who you've empowered! 💖🙏
These are the best videos ever; I have made a bucket list for before I have my puppy at home. I made a budget for buying everything and make sure that when she gets home, I'm as prepared as possible. Thank you, Rachel, you are an angel.
OMG I literally just told my son this after dinner!!! People make puppies look like it's all fun and games but it is like having new babies in the house and STRESSFUL 😫😫😫😭😭😭...I have dogs, but I just became a guardian for a new standard poodle and he's giving us a run for our money! We started his training today and I found you today!... Thank you 🥰🐩🐾

I just needed this. I just got an 8 week old boxer mix from the rescue and it is wooow too much work. He cries a lot, but he's a baby. He is doing very well potty training. I try to take him out as much as I can to pee and poo and he is getting the hang of it. Thanks!

Wow right on time I just got my puppy yesterday! I would love if you made a detailed video for starting puppy on raw diet I don’t even know where to start
I am getting a mini Aussiedoodle on the 2-16-2022. I am nervous. I have been binge watching your videos to get myself prepared. I think I am overwhelmed.
What are your tips on raising a puppy when living alone? Would love a video on that! I have an 8 week old golden retriever and I brought him home at 7 weeks. One week in and haven’t seen really any progress with crate training and potty training. I appreciate any help :)
the first month was brutal I was sleeping about 4 hours up at 5am and asleep at 3 am. The major problem I had was that my puppy was urinating sooo much I adopted her from a shelter... i took her to see a vet and requested a UA even though they said its most likely because she is a puppy well she was diagnosed with vaginitus and said she had blood and inflammation in her urinary tract... now 5 months later she is doing sooo much better after antibiotics and starting her on supplements. Now im dealing with her. PATIENCE IS THE BIGGEST THING WITH PUPPIES!!!
Hey!! I have been watching your vids for the past couple of months to help me feel prepared and now it’s just 2 days until my little nugget comes home!!
The constant nipping/biting on everything my puppy can reach is making me crazy. She’s almost 10 weeks and I prepared for a month before she got here. 2 weeks later and she’s so intense at biting. I did find out she needed a lot of naps when she was terrible, but even after waking she starts it up again😫😫I’m trying to find a video you must have on this!!!! I love your style
Good tips, especially the isolation of the dog and toys. I'll be getting a puppy next month so I'll incorporate your suggestions in my training. Next spring, the goal is to have him tested to be a therapy dog
We are overwhelmed with our new mini poodle of 8 weeks. She’s chasing our 10 yr old shih tzu all over the house. My question is should we put the new puppy in the crate to stop this? And should the crate be put in another room or in the closed off area where we let her play? Help! We are in need of help!!
what is the crate for? is it used until a certain age? or is it forever? Even as an adult, when the dog is left home alone, should it stay inside the crate?
Hi Rachel, I absolutely love your videos! I have a Goldendoodle Jax who looks identical to Fin! I was just wondering what is the brand of the slow feeding bowl that you are using? I make a homemade organic raw food which I freeze in a kong and takes Jax double the time to eat. I do mental stimulation every which Jax absolutely loves! I think you are so awesome, that I have been watching your videos for over 4 years! Are you going to do bark remark again?
Awh! Say hi to Jax for me :) My favorite slow feeder bowls are here: www.rachelfusaro.com/shop/#60f89c37f94f7d19ee12732d And i TOTALLY forgot about bark remark!!! maybe i should?!
thank you so much I have been watching your videos and buying your reccomendations the last 4 weeks.. My mini golden doodle is doing amazing thanks to your tips !! I just go the diggs crate to :)
We are taking our 9 week old puppy out on a schedule with his bladder & after he eats. Every hour. But, he diverts on the way outside to do his business on the carpet. (Never on the puppy potty pads) 🤔 So, I've been carrying him outside. Is he ever going to learn not to go inside?
I have a couple questions how do you fix separation anxiety? As well as how do you stop them from peeing in certain rooms. My puppy has done really good with Potty training but the minute I remove the gate to allow him in my room he pees in my room
Just got a new puppy 10 weeks old. He is the sweetest little guy, however, he is not even trying to learn potty training. Any suggestions to help with this process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help.
Getting an new english bulldog puppy on Wednesday. I have purchased a play pen big enough to put a small kennel and a Pet Loo in it. When we are how I plan on taking the puppy out frequently, but thought I could use the Pet Loo while I'm at work. I plan on coming on at noon each day so puppy will be in the playpen area approximately 4 hrs am and 4 hrs pm after I go back to work. I would like to hear what you think of this.
This comes at good time for me. I recently got a 9 week old aussie shepherd. One of the biggest issue for me right now is crate training. Ive seen your videos on it but I am still struggling. My pup cries when i leave him in the crate but i have been putting him in his crate even when I am at the house and around. He just doesnt like being in there but I cant let him just roam around with out supervision. Also my pup seems really interested in my cat. My cat is not having it. Hes to energetic for my cat. He is not used to the pup quite yet. I feel bad cause my cat hides in his room :/
@@RachelFusaro Thank you for the response! Should I let him sleep in the crate in the room with me and my older dog? I was thinking some nights he can sleep with us and others in the living room so he comes to realize its not so bad. For now hes been in the living room crated.
@@saramations Yes you are right, my cat has warmed up to my new pup. They even chase the cat lure together its funny and cute. Sometimes I have to crate my dogs because they will try to all play with the lure and it overwhelms my cat.
I’m getting my puppies on a Friday but I have to work Monday morning what should I do about pee pee time? I am a widow and have nobody else to help with training. I will be coming home for lunch to spend time with her. Help??
I have been binge watching your videos love your videos. I'm getting a cocker spaniel puppy the second week of march. Super excited 😄 Definitely going to do your trainings.
Hi! Absolutely love your videos. They are really getting me and my 9 year old prepared for our first dog. We're receiving our Maltipoo pup on February 7th. I'm excited and nervous 😆. What type of crate would you recommend other than Diggs brand, something that's more affordable?
Love that you are preparing together, so important! I have used and love this brand: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QFT1RC/ref=as_li_tl?camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000QFT1RC&ie=UTF8&linkCode=as2&linkId=1fed5ad405068be592244dc90171f0dc&tag=rachelfusar0e-20
I just found your channel the other day and I'm really in love with all your videos! I've been watching all your videos when I have time. I'm supposed to be looking at a Brittany puppy sometime this weekend and have always been fascinated with training dogs and behavior. Thank you for making these amazing videos ❤
Hi. I just adopted a 5 month old dachshund/ rat terrier. He has become a velcro dog to me. How do I give him alone time if he yelps and howls when he's away from me?
Hi! I have a question. I'm getting a toy poodle soon and wanted to ask when we are trying to get the puppy adjusted to being alone in the playpen and the crate, do we give them activities like a Kong or mental stimulation toy with treats? I'm just worried about what do I do if the puppy starts crying right away, and should I be in that area where the playpen is when I first get her? Thank you!
Your content seriously saved my sanity. We got a goldendoodle puppy a few weeks ago. We are practicing alone time but she screams nonstop. Any suggestions?
Hi, I have a question, so my pup has been pooping and peeing on puppy training pads, I was wondering if that will affect him in the future I have a busy family, but I go to school at 6:30 am, and my mom goes to work at 10 am, when I come back home at 2 pm, we are worried that he might poop or pee while we are gone on the floor, which is why we put pads in a closed off space.
I've been watching all of your videos daily and love your content. Do you recommend anything I should do differently having 2 puppies at the same time? 😬 I've adopted 2 siblings and will have them in about two weeks. Kind of freaking out because it's been a while since I've had a puppy and now I'll have 2. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Thank you, I needed to hear this. I've had my puppy for less than a week and things are actually going pretty we've made a lot of progress with crate and a few obedience skills. There's one odd behavior that's got me stumped. For some reason he's terrified to go outside. He's totally find as soon as we're out there but I don't want to have to pick him up and feel like i'm forcing him because its making potty training confusing. I can't even lure him outside with food because he's that anxious and it's the only time he starts pulling, and I certainly don't want to drag him. I started carrying him outside in the morning in his crate but he's really trembling so I don't know about this either because it seems traumatizing for him first thing in the morning. Anyone have ideas on this one??
Hi Rachel we are bringing our new cavapoo 12 weeks old puppy on March 13h. I have learned a lot from your videos. I ordered some Icelandic cod treats and they are very hard and prickly. Will these treats be safe for a 12 week old puppy?
So I happen to live with two roommates who have dogs that aren’t well trained and pee in the house almost daily. Would this be a bad influence on a new puppy? I want to get a puppy soon and have done a lot of research but I don’t want her training to be stunted because of the other dogs!
Can you train a puppy to go potty on a puppy pad and go outside? I want to be able to take my puppy outside when I'm home, but when I'm not home I want them to pee on the puppy pads. I will be closing off an area for the puppy when I'm not home. I know later in life I could probably let them go outside by themselves but as a puppy I don't want them to wander around
Help!!! We have 2 puppy American Eskimo. Maggie and Opie. Maggie is doing great with potty training, but Opie is having trouble. We got them December 13th. We have tried everything. It’s like he isn’t able to hold it or doesn’t want to.
I knew an Irish setter that lived over 19 years. He lived on a ranch and was never fed factory food. Pretty sure when they slaughtered an animal he would get the internal organs and stuff.
My puppy doesn’t want to go outside all the time to go to the bathroom. I start to pull them with a leash and then he just sits down and lays down. What can you do about that? How do I get him to like his kennel? Better to stay in longer I feed him in it but then he said what out of it when he is done whining I don’t think I should allow him to whine too much or he would hate it. ?
I keep on leash my puppy at all times in the house if I can’t watch him on the leg of the chair The loop on chair leg It’s either that or in his kennel if I can’t watch every minute
Love your videos ! Is there any videos on adding a second dog to your home ? We have had our min. Pin iggy mix for A month and a half and would like to eventually adopt again but I.m not sure if it’s better to do it now or later down line
Hello Rachel, your videos are very helpful and thank you for al of your tips. I just got a puppy (it’s a Yorkie ) and I’m doing my best in training him haha. I’m worried because I don’t know when is the best time to leave my puppy at home. I don’t know what to do to be honest cause I don’t want him to have anxiety. What I’m doing is taking him with me and when ever he can’t come with us I leave him in the car. Please help
Hey so I got a new puppy recently and it’s snowing tons outside. It’s not safe for her out there because she’s not vaccinated yet and there’s salt on the ground. She has boots but won’t wear them. So I don’t know how to train her to go outside during these cold times. I was wondering if you have any tips or ideas?
My puppy can use the bathroom in the backyard but how do I get her to use her pad? She destroys it every time I lay it out for her. And will just pee every where else instead while I’m at work🙃
My puppy is about five months old. Nothing I do stops the lunging and biting at me, but he listens to my boyfriend. I think he's remotely mind control programmed to do this. He thinks my arms are a tug of war toy. Tried everything.
Thank you for this. Just 2 minutes into the video and I feel like I can do this again. We just got our 2nd puppy a few days ago, he is about 5 months old (our other pup is 1.5 yrs).
Stick with the basics on crate training - and when home, practice in and around the crate 3-5x a day (shor sessions) and keep it light! You got this
@@RachelFusaro Thank you for the response! Should I let him sleep in the crate in the room with me and my older dog? I was thinking some nights he can sleep with us and others in the living room so he comes to realize its not so bad. For now hes been in the living room crated.
Make sure you're playing with your cat and making him feel loved. Cats will adjust on their own pace but he still needs your undivided attention. 🐱
Where do I find the list of holistic Vets you recommend?
@@RachelFusaro Awesome!!!!! Thank you so much for responding!!!! Absolutely love your channel.
I wish I could have a dog 😭😭my parents won't agree as I live in an apartment..I tried convincing 😭
Thank you!
what type of dog is Wallace? So cute? A poodle mix?
Your content seriously saved my sanity. We got a goldendoodle puppy a few weeks ago. We are practicing alone time but she screams nonstop. Any suggestions?
I’m currently going through the same situation. How did you correct this problem?
Hi, I have a question, so my pup has been pooping and peeing on puppy training pads, I was wondering if that will affect him in the future I have a busy family, but I go to school at 6:30 am, and my mom goes to work at 10 am, when I come back home at 2 pm, we are worried that he might poop or pee while we are gone on the floor, which is why we put pads in a closed off space.
Great video, lot of good stuff.
Have you ever worked with a Bernedoodle? I want either a tiny or mini. I am 73 yrs. old. Good health, but I will be alone. Are they hyper?
Wonderful tips and tricks!
My toy poodle is 4 months old. She hates when I brush her hair. Any advice?
I've been watching all of your videos daily and love your content. Do you recommend anything I should do differently having 2 puppies at the same time? 😬 I've adopted 2 siblings and will have them in about two weeks. Kind of freaking out because it's been a while since I've had a puppy and now I'll have 2. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
How is it going with with pups??
Hello again! Which size crate would you recommend for a pug? Thanks for your time
👍❤️How much food should you feed a puppy at one meal? Is it 1 ounce of water per pound of the dogs weight?
It is possible! Here is how I did it: th-cam.com/video/Xt9VH-Asc1k/w-d-xo.html
How do you handle the puppy pumping on the leg
When my puppy falls asleep and I bring her to her crate should I keep the door open or closed?

How can I do that in winter . Our winters are very cold like -20 to -40 .
The training isn't a problem but outside is hard.
My puppy lays down when I try to pull him on the leash to go outside?

I keep on leash my puppy at all times in the house if I can’t watch him on the leg of the chair
The loop on chair leg
It’s either that or in his kennel if I can’t watch every minute
Love your videos ! Is there any videos on adding a second dog to your home ? We have had our min. Pin iggy mix for A month and a half and would like to eventually adopt again but I.m not sure if it’s better to do it now or later down line
What can be put under the playpen
Where do you get your feeder dish?
My puppy can use the bathroom in the backyard but how do I get her to use her pad? She destroys it every time I lay it out for her. And will just pee every where else instead while I’m at work🙃
You say back to the basics, but what exactly is the most basic?
Is your white dog a poodle? Im trying to figure out what my rescue puppy is..
Rachel, do you have any advice on potty training 2 same age siblings at 5 months?
The nipping doesn’t really bother me, is that going to be an issue?
My puppy is about five months old. Nothing I do stops the lunging and biting at me, but he listens to my boyfriend. I think he's remotely mind control programmed to do this. He thinks my arms are a tug of war toy. Tried everything.
I was walking over to take my dog outside last night and as I was walking over (she was right by the door) she peed on the floor.
Am I the only person subbed to her but I don’t got a dog 🐶
Uhhhhh.
You’re preparing to foster!
