I have a project that i'm trying to decide about oil or water poly's but I saw that you have some pin-stripping on your cabinets and I haven't seen a good way to do the pin. Did you just free-hand it or did you put down painters tape first. Mine are a little less wider than yours, but would like some advice on what worked for you.
I am not sure what you mean about the pinstripes. The cabinet that I made have some Purple Heart wood glued in there to make the small line of color on the maple.
It would be nice if they would color the water-based finishes so it can warm the wood like the oil-based ones do. Have you ever tested the Minwax wipe-on poly to see how well each successive coat does in protecting wood from moisture penetration/staining? I'm making a bed frame using construction lumber and trying to come up with a finishing plan for it. Thinking of doing 3 coats of oil-based wipe on poly. Don't have a lot of experience so I'm curious on your thoughts.
I have used wipe-on poly (Oil base) for my night stands which have had their share of water spills over the years. I applied three coats and they are holding up well. I don't have any long term use of the water base Wipe-on Poly. You could use natural Danish oil first to warm up the color of the wood before applying the water base.
Always a challenge finding the perfect poly, Appreciate the work you do!
I finally have the two I like. Thanks for Watching.
Thank you for this very informative video!
You are so welcome and thanks for watching.
Thanks once again because mine is water😢 base n i feel more comfortable using it. Wish me luck 🤞
Think about spraying it, that worked the best for me.
