The first time the Tomorrowverse felt jarring to me was in Green Lantern: Beware My Power. Skipping the formation of the Justice League was so strange to me, let alone foregoing Hal Jordan's story to skip ahead to a very loose adaptation of Emerald Twilight. Then, in the Legion of Superheroes movie, when it was revealed that Superman and Flash's seemingly inconsequential fight with Braniac is actually a pretty significant plot point to the overarching story of the Tomorrowverse, I started feeling like the writers actually are trying to do something and not just making weird decisions on the fly again and again. And then, I learned that the whole Tomorrowverse is actually built right from the beginning with the intention of culminating into an adaptation of Crisis of Infinite Earths. That means that every time they crafted the plots of each movie, they most probably also considered how certain plot points will fit into the story they want to tell in the COIE trilogy. While I understand the negative reception of the COIE movies so far, and I do agree with the complaints to some degree, I can't help but still appreciate COIE for what it is. At the end of the day, it might bore the audience with how contrived everything is. But it takes a lot of effort to actually craft a non-linear story this complicated.
I also really liked the vibes of this movie. I am very emotionally invested in this universe, and it still tells good stories in it. Messy? Perhaps. But I enjoy them.
I'm very used to these more transitionary experiences, and it's always tough grippign people through your mid story climax set up, and I had a good time watching part 2, you could tell they were digging a lot deeper to tell a more subtle and gripping story, and I think it succeeded, if maybe paced a bit quickly
I think the film would have worked better if the super girl and psycho pirate backstory were implemented throughout the movie instead of the first 40 minutes. We get to see Supergirl's growing dissatisfaction as she is dealing with the crisis while also remembering all the shit the monitor has done. We see Psycho Pirate's backstory while also seeing him gaining more power. It also makes stuff like Kamandi's arc start much earlier instead of halfway through the movie. This makes the film less like the 2 disconnected plots made to happen one after the other and instead makes it so all of these elements build up to the climax of Psychopirate betrayal, and monitor death.
There’s been a ton of dull moments in the latter half of the tomorrowverse which is incredibly disappointing. Man, it’s rough being a DC fan 😒 im still trying to find ways to enjoy these movies tho but they could be a lot better
So I just went through all your videos thumbnails, and I have to point out how much I appreciate the gradual transition in thumbnail styles from one time to another, so I never even noticed all these years I've been subscribed.
I liked the Tomorrowverse, mostly. I know the creators were told they only had 10 films, but yeah these Crisis films keep having to fill in missing plots that should have been their own films. The entire 10 films should have been structured differently to work better.
I actually keep coming back for the cucumber, though I find myself in a bit of a pickle attempting to relate to comic stories that ultimately led me to walk away from comics. I would never reboot my life: I would miss the scars too much.
I’m enjoying this iteration. I mean there have been several remixes of DC Crisis. Each one does something a little differently and each has their charm. If one is willing to just accept it as presented. Personally, I like that I don’t have to slog through a ton of remixes of Batman stories that have been done to death. Same with Supes and all the rest.
I quite enjoyed it, though with so much going on, it often felt like there wasn't enough time with the characters. I would've loved an extra 30 minutes on part 1 at least. Absolutely cannot wait for part 3! "Sometimes you have to care, even if it costs you everything because a few moments of empathy is more meaningful than multiple lifetimes of indifference." how do you write things like that? I wish I was adept enough at writing to be able to convey such beauty though words, it immediately tugged on my heart, man! I'm so envious and amazed at people who are good at putting emotion into words.
Totally started this video not realizing it was about the newer DCAU stuff that just dropped.... Hot sandwich! I love the The Venture Bros.-esque new art style! Definitely watching the movie, now.
Implicitly agree. But i also watch alot of movies too, so this confuses my friends sometimes when they ask for reccommendations. I have to remind them i read comics so i digest alot of shit, on the weekly, i don’t know whats bad or good until 6 months later or after the 2nd reading/watching.
Hey I liked it enough. It was neat to see moments from across the series and remembering the context. Also I don't care if it was only 3 lines, I was just happy to see him.
I actually loved this movie. I watched it while at work cleaning dishes and it really helped pass the time. The fact I couldn’t really watch it kind of helped me enjoy it more I think
I loved the tomorrowverse Superman movie. It was one of the few animated movies from DC that I enjoyed in since Crisis on Two Earths and Young Justice Season. I am sad that they are doing the end of it so soon.
So, I haven’t been following the tomorrowverse since the Justice Society film. I’ve actually been really enjoying the Crisis films because to me they’re not “filling in gaps” so much as they are just…stories about Barry and Kara respectively. And in that regard I’ve been really enjoying them.
Part 1 was my favourite so far becayse they introduced Helena Wayne Huntress from Earth-2 AKA why I'm watching this series and because she's my favoruite DC character next to Batman and Catwoman (her parents) Part 2 just felt rushed... too rushed... kinda wondered where it was going. Not to mention 2 origin stories overlapping one another. It's weird. What bothered me mowt is Wonder Woman being Earth-2 only and not every Earth. I do plan on reading the original COIE but yeah.
Honestly, the trilogy so far is for those who are invested in the tomorrowverse already, which is ok. I wonder what they’ll do next after the tomorrowverse ends, or if it’s just gonna have animated DCU content besides random elseworld stuff.
Most people have never read Crisis and assume it’s like an action book when it is in fact barely a character piece and is just a mechanism to artificially clean up a time line. So if this movie made the smart choice to actually do character work exploring the themes of nihilism and empathy when facing overwhelming disaster by using continuity as a mechanic and is ultimately a clumsy story, then it is a perfect Crisis adaptation
I think the real problem here is that Crisis on Infinite Earth's really doesn't work outside comics in that particular moment in time. Any adaption is going to have to make major to come out with something general audiences (even just DC fans who don't read comics) can enjoy. It's already significantly worse solely by the fact it's not just well known IRL now but we have a crisis event so often these days. Heck, everything has been doing multiverse team IPs recently. The idea of all DC multiverses coming together lost a lot of appeal and shock value, and there's like none of the ground shaking consequences. Like how do you make people care that all multiverses got killed off? That Golden Age WW died and main universe Supergirl died? Crisis is more well known for what it did and what it meant at DC comics. How do you even adapt that properly?
@vullord666 I actually think they could've used the crisis to pay homage to their previous animated shows/movies. Bringing them together and letting them interact while trying to save the multiverse. Imagine Batman: Brave and the Bold intetacting with Batman from Btman TAS. Would've been fun and epic. Then ultimately leaving one universe standing, the DCU.
Sigh, here goes another -verse on account of people not understanding or disliking the films for the silliest of reasons and thus the films not selling I wish we had something going on for longer, to latch onto, but you just can't please comic book fanatics who think they're the only ones who know the right way to represent their favorite character or a story or whatever I like those movies, and the animation is beautiful And hell i hope Jensen Ackles scores more Batman roles He could pull a live action one too i bet
So I followed tommarowverse, and I kinda liked this one. I mean, I liked the Bat family hashing things out, though I didn't understand why they were there. The wonder woman part was just stupid to me. I thought Green Lantern getting upset about being called Green Lantern was the dumbest contrived scenario ever just for Constantine to remember his name. However, I enjoyed Kara's moments, the Monitor, Pirate guy whose name I forget ah yes, Rainbow Raider. Yeah, the tommarowverse felt rushed imperfect, but it did feel like a superhero story non the less. I'll still watch it because while it's by no means perfect, it captures the feeling of a superhero movie.
Perfect Title for this. I rented it yesterday and while the first part was only „kinda“ cool, for me this was downright incomprehensible. Defintitely gonna skip the third one.
"Boring, confusing, and has too many characters" seems to perfectly describe most big crossover event comics, in my experience; so I'd say this was a pretty faithful adaptation!
My hot take for a while now has been that Crisis on Infinite Earths is, if not the worst DC crisis, then at the very least one of the bad ones. It's 12 issues of characters you barely know, since quite a lot of them have been left behind in the 40 years since (who the fuck is Dawnstar), fighting the Anti-Monitor. A bunch of people die pretty much purely for shock value, and then the whole Multiverse is killed off because DC bought some new toys. You compare that to the insanity that is Metal and Death Metal, or the fucking MASTERPIECE that Final Crisis is, and you might get why I'm disappointed every time the say "Hey guys, we're doing Crisis on Infinite Earths again, this time we'll do it right" And yes, I do think Zero Hour and Convergence are better, because Zero Hour has Parallax Hal Jordan and Convergence has Parallax Hal Jordan
I really dislike the tomorrowverse. Nothing happens in these movies. New 52 had its problems but the charactefs felt like people. I shed a tear when superman was stabbed by doomsday even though I knew exactly how he will come back. Here worlds being vaporized and I couldnt care less.
Uh, now you've done it, you have angered the 5 tomorrowverse fans left, they will leave a lukewarm defense mentioning only the first Superman movie and deflecting by repeating incessantly how the new 52 was "edgy" without mentioning any specifics or why that is inherently bad.
Superman wasn't a character until doS, the last universe wasn't great, it was improvised, for example Aquaman movie cliffhanger of Legion of doom with a resolution of a random battle on Jl vs TT, Apokolips Wars killing character like Batgirl which had two scenes on screen but batwoman or batwing which had actual development off screen, Aquaman having 0 relevance since his movie, even worse with shazam. Post credits went nowhere like WW bloodlines or TT Judas Contract introducing Donna Troy to forget her. Movies feeling the same like mcu but dark and edgy.
I just feel sad for the TomorrowVerse They’re trying, there’s so much they want to do, but they don’t have the runtime to develop these stories and characters, and practically no one know they exist
Well, the title for this video is apt because it was my reaction to finding out the Tomorrowverse even existed, much less that they briefly brought back Terry. Huh.
I like this movie but I am still of the opinion that it doesn’t fit the traditional role that the second film in a trilogy usually does. I think a lot of people expected that and that’s why they don’t like it. I’ve seen people call it the worst DC animated film and I think that is extremely exaggerated. I think it’s a good film.
Not the best one, but I can see the drop of gold in this movie. John ,fucking, Constantine. That couple minutes that he’s in is amazing, fabulous gorgeous remind me of the DCEU
I followed this movie just fine and if you didn't you're a FAKE FAN! No, but It's got Kamandi, The Quetion, Psycho Pirate, Constantine's story from the last universe, and a Bat Family from multiple worlds with a deadbeat dad. It's fun. These movies should be allowed to be weirder. And I'm not a big fan of the idea that you need 10 years just to get to the weird stuff anymore.
Play genuinely think this movie is too high level of messages for the common audience the comic was high level on itself. Whenever the main characters are the monitor and flash and high-level beings outside of the multiverse do you really have to start thinking a little higher level
There was A LOT in this movie of character using words they didn't know the meaning of and people thinking irrationally. Psycho Pirate is the perfect excuse for poor writing and making characters make bad decisions.
I was really on the fence on watching this and I don't think I will, no offense 😅 (love your vids, tho 🥰) I barely survived War World and Part 1, no way can I take this AND a Part 3!!! 🤣 DCAU absolutely CRUSHED IT will their older stuff. I STILL watch Wonder Woman vs the Furies scene from Batman/Superman Apokolips and admire the choreography to this day!!! We're supposed to get better not worse!!!
Contrary to popular belief, the Tomorrowverse was always planned to be this short. They knew Crisis would be the finale, which is why it ties into the previous movies so much. The DC showcase shorts that aired during the Tomorrowverse are also canon and tie into Crisis, like how Psycho Pirate was disguised in the Blue Beetle showcase. Gunn’s takeover of DC has nothing to do with the end of this universe because they’ve been working on these for years. Personally I think the tomorrowverse is better than the DCAMU.
Your telling me it’s convoluted and focus on too many characters that only most people with a real love for this universe and it’s history will like it… sounds like the book like I don’t know anyone who liked the book other then people who are really in to DC as a whole (like me) I have seen both parts and enjoyed them for what they are
I really like how this universe started with the Superman and Batman movies, but it felt rushed when Flash's movie already kicked off the multiverse in three-ish movies (Batman's was a two parter) and to go into the crisis storyline is like how the Snyderverse went from Superman to Justice League in a couple movies.
the difference was the tomorrowverse: 1. didn't trash the characters (except GL lore and characters). 2. It had an actual limit of movies (they requested 20 and Wb gave them 10) and time (animation can't lenght 2 hours bc hollywood thinks kids get bore, co director of kungfu panda 4 said Across the spiderverse was a miracle) 3. it build an actual storyline and the ending exists
Some people will think that James Gunn is responsible for the tomorrow verse ending. But this franchise is a complete failure people were saying bad things about the movies. How it was written changing things from the comics and hating the animation. Given that they are already doing crisis storyline already before others dc characters gets their own movie like wonder woman and Aquaman. Means this franchise is a complete failure and they decided to end it with crisis. And no surprise the crisis movies are just as bad as the other tomorrow verse movies. Batman the long halloween movies was the only one that people liked.
Seems like they want to wrap thid up for whatever James Gunn wants. But we all know he won't be at DC long enough to actually develop films that are connected to each other. He'll probably be gone before 2030.
The thing with Tomorrow verse is that it had potential, but it all fell apart with Green Lantern. Then comes Crisis which seems it'll be something good, but both movies are just 70% of boring filler and 30 % of actual plot, and yet the actual plot sucks. I wanted to like both movies but all I felt was apathy. Hope part 3 at least can be good
My reaction to hearing that 'Crisis on infinite earths' was going to be adapted into a movie trilogy was the same as when I heard that they were going to adapt Avatar the last airbender into a live action series. "Kinda seems like this story was already presented to us in the best medium suited for it." I guess it's an interesting experiment in how one would go about trying to recreate it in a new medium that has different expectations, limits and assets attached to it. I'm not above going back to change some stuff, cutting things out, or smoothing over some messy parts of the original work, and I've been wrong before. The whole world said that the lord of the rings could never be made into a successful film series before Peter Jackson. But making a story like 'Crisis on infinite worlds' anything other than comics just doesn't feel right to me.
i think she was more shocked that she hurt him... one cause she was obviously under psycho pirates buffed influence, and two it went thru monitors impenetrable shield..
I think people are being too hard on it. I read the comics it was based on when they were originally released. In my preteen years, it got me into buying and reading comics, so i was big fan. That said, i think the movies did a far better job with the material. They did a day better job explaining and justifying the plot
I havent seen the second crisis yet, i was waiting to see it on Max at no extra cost. I was really surprised to hear such a negative reaction to this movie, but I want to go in with an open mind. Especially because I actually really enjoyed the first crisis movie and I feel like most people didn't, so maybe ill like this one.

Many superheroes fans got lost with series like Legion TV series first episode, so I expected them to be confused by crisis 1

I enjoyed it. I bought it. It’s a hell of a lot better than, say, that New 52 JL Atlantis movie.
I watched one and two back to back the other day . I throughly enjoyed both I thought maybe it was because I knew more about the character involved.
I care about the tomorrowverse too man. Glad I'm not alone but sad to hear what's become of it since I last watched the legion movie
So I just went through all your videos thumbnails, and I have to point out how much I appreciate the gradual transition in thumbnail styles from one time to another, so I never even noticed all these years I've been subscribed.
I enjoyed the subtle storytelling of these films. Its not half fisted... lets you think about what's being presented and make your own decisions
Moving away from justice league dooms animation style has killed the DCEU animated movies.
I really hope Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3 is good, because that'll be Kevin Conroy's final performance as Batman :(
Honestly makes me excited to see the 3rd part
Implicitly agree. But i also watch alot of movies too, so this confuses my friends sometimes when they ask for reccommendations. I have to remind them i read comics so i digest alot of shit, on the weekly, i don’t know whats bad or good until 6 months later or after the 2nd reading/watching.
Hey I liked it enough. It was neat to see moments from across the series and remembering the context.
Also I don't care if it was only 3 lines, I was just happy to see him.
I actually enjoyed that movie, can't wait for the next one.
I actually loved this movie. I watched it while at work cleaning dishes and it really helped pass the time. The fact I couldn’t really watch it kind of helped me enjoy it more I think
‘Let’s take the most iconic DC storyline and totally change it up in a 3 part event that kinda just meanders around’
How d
I loved the tomorrowverse Superman movie. It was one of the few animated movies from DC that I enjoyed in since Crisis on Two Earths and Young Justice Season. I am sad that they are doing the end of it so soon.
So, I haven’t been following the tomorrowverse since the Justice Society film. I’ve actually been really enjoying the Crisis films because to me they’re not “filling in gaps” so much as they are just…stories about Barry and Kara respectively. And in that regard I’ve been really enjoying them.
NEVER BEEN THIS EARLY TO AN IMPLICITLY PRETENTIOUS VID!!! LETS GOOO. I AM
Part 1 was my favourite so far becayse they introduced Helena Wayne Huntress from Earth-2 AKA why I'm watching this series and because she's my favoruite DC character next to Batman and Catwoman (her parents)
Part 2 just felt rushed... too rushed... kinda wondered where it was going.
I liked Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths more
I think the real problem here is that Crisis on Infinite Earth's really doesn't work outside comics in that particular moment in time.
People who talk about things they know nothing about really are up their own asses...
Ignore those MCU fanboys
I wish batman beyond got more scene time
I think gonna get more screen time in part three
Sigh, here goes another -verse on account of people not understanding or disliking the films for the silliest of reasons and thus the films not selling
I wish we had something going on for longer, to latch onto, but you just can't please comic book fanatics who think they're the only ones who know the right way to represent their favorite character or a story or whatever
I like those movies, and the animation is beautiful
And hell i hope Jensen Ackles scores more Batman roles
He could pull a live action one too i bet
at least this one is a complete saga intead of another cancelled franchise (dceu lol)
I haven't watched this movie yet. Probably will when all three parts are out but thanks for covering it 😁
Not even a second in and I am HOLLERING oh my GOD
Perfect Title for this. I rented it yesterday and while the first part was only „kinda“ cool, for me this was downright incomprehensible. Defintitely gonna skip the third one.
"Boring, confusing, and has too many characters" seems to perfectly describe most big crossover event comics, in my experience; so I'd say this was a pretty faithful adaptation!
Good video as always. Gives me something to think about before my bed time
My hot take for a while now has been that Crisis on Infinite Earths is, if not the worst DC crisis, then at the very least one of the bad ones. You compare that to the insanity that is Metal and Death Metal, or the fucking MASTERPIECE that Final Crisis is, and you might get why I'm disappointed every time the say "Hey guys, we're doing Crisis on Infinite Earths again, this time we'll do it right"
And yes, I do think Zero Hour and Convergence are better, because Zero Hour has Parallax Hal Jordan and Convergence has Parallax Hal Jordan
I really dislike the tomorrowverse. Nothing happens in these movies. New 52 had its problems but the charactefs felt like people. I shed a tear when superman was stabbed by doomsday even though I knew exactly how he will come back. Here worlds being vaporized and I couldnt care less.
True but at least this felt like a bigger universe than just the old one
I just feel sad for the TomorrowVerse
They’re trying, there’s so much they want to do, but they don’t have the runtime to develop these stories and characters, and practically no one know they exist
It was a fun experiment with some really funky looking art (in a good way)
i enjoyed that movie too. I think we are at least 2 love that movie now.
Not fan of the movie, but it makes me angry people complaining about the tone or pacing instead instead of the real problems (the filler plots)
I'd love to see your take on Vandal Savage in the Justice League episode "Hereafter" Part 2.
Well, the title for this video is apt because it was my reaction to finding out the Tomorrowverse even existed, much less that they briefly brought back Terry. Huh.
Can't wait for the Final Crisis adaptation.
Batman Beyond/Terry better have bigger role in part 3; seriously enough Damian Wayne garbage in DC projects
They're making a part 3...Jesus Christ🤦♂️
I love something that was changing your mind and have you to thank for it. Also great video and Nice to se that you liked it.
I did not even know the part 2 was already here
I'll just assume David Zaslav is to blame for anything Warner Bros's animation problems lol.
I havnt even been followimg the tommaroverse and i liked it
Not the best one, but I can see the drop of gold in this movie.
Me too
Play genuinely think this movie is too high level of messages for the common audience the comic was high level on itself. Whenever the main characters are the monitor and flash and high-level beings outside of the multiverse do you really have to start thinking a little higher level
Especially part one
I enjoyed the first film. This one was a lot harder to get through. I’m hoping they wrap this up neatly though.
I liked it. But I like talk-no-jutsu, and the film was like, 90% that.
I am glad you enjoyed this movie more then I did.
02:08 totally agree
There was A LOT in this movie of character using words they didn't know the meaning of and people thinking irrationally.
Psycho Pirate is the perfect excuse for poor writing and making characters make bad decisions.
I was really on the fence on watching this and I don't think I will, no offense 😅 (love your vids, tho 🥰)
I barely survived War World and Part 1, no way can I take this AND a Part 3!!! 🤣
DCAU absolutely CRUSHED IT will their older stuff.
I love this man, our DC MAN
Your telling me it’s convoluted and focus on too many characters that only most people with a real love for this universe and it’s history will like it… sounds like the book like I don’t know anyone who liked the book other then people who are really in to DC as a whole (like me)
I have seen both parts and enjoyed them for what they are
I really like how this universe started with the Superman and Batman movies, but it felt rushed when Flash's movie already kicked off the multiverse in three-ish movies (Batman's was a two parter) and to go into the crisis storyline is like how the Snyderverse went from Superman to Justice League in a couple movies.
the difference was the tomorrowverse:
1. didn't trash the characters (except GL lore and characters).
2. It had an actual limit of movies (they requested 20 and Wb gave them 10) and time (animation can't lenght 2 hours bc hollywood thinks kids get bore, co director of kungfu panda 4 said Across the spiderverse was a miracle)
3. it build an actual storyline and the ending exists
Some trailers I saw makes it looks like it has nothing to do with CoIE whatsoever. I don’t remember Crisis having shadow monsters.
Lore of what? Momentum 100
They should have made an animated series out of it
I like the movies.
These are very different.
This would be epic if there was a build up to it
The thing with Tomorrow verse is that it had potential, but it all fell apart with Green Lantern. Then comes Crisis which seems it'll be something good, but both movies are just 70% of boring filler and 30 % of actual plot, and yet the actual plot sucks. I wanted to like both movies but all I felt was apathy. Hope part 3 at least can be good
I also enjoy this approach to these movies
My reaction to hearing that 'Crisis on infinite earths' was going to be adapted into a movie trilogy was the same as when I heard that they were going to adapt Avatar the last airbender into a live action series.
"Kinda seems like this story was already presented to us in the best medium suited for it."
I guess it's an interesting experiment in how one would go about trying to recreate it in a new medium that has different expectations, limits and assets attached to it. I'm not above going back to change some stuff, cutting things out, or smoothing over some messy parts of the original work,
and I've been wrong before. The whole world said that the lord of the rings could never be made into a successful film series before Peter Jackson.
But making a story like 'Crisis on infinite worlds' anything other than comics just doesn't feel right to me.
You’re not the only one who cares 😭😞 we are the few
Supergirl being shocked that her heat vision indeed did heat up what was in her vision was a funny note to end the film on.
i think she was more shocked that she hurt him... one cause she was obviously under psycho pirates buffed influence, and two it went thru monitors impenetrable shield..
The monitor is extraordinarily power. She didn’t think she would hurt him with one blast.
I think people are being too hard on it.
I read the comics it was based on when they were originally released. In my preteen years, it got me into buying and reading comics, so i was big fan.
That said, i think the movies did a far better job with the material. They did a day better job explaining and justifying the plot
I think what they did with Flash felt like a more fulfilling ending.
